Art House Co-op Gallery has announced the project, ‘Your Life in 24 Frames - A Million Little Pictures’. In the course of the summer, one thousand artists from around the world will document their lives in 24 frames using a simple disposable camera with a flash. While maths-savvy readers will easily calculate that this won’t exactly amount to a million pictures, the resulting 24,000 photographs will still make up a huge collection, which is going to be exhibited at Art House Gallery in Atlanta, opening on 25 September 2009. In addition to that, the exhibition will also go to the US city that has the most participants. If you want to be one of those who give people 24 glimpses into their lives, sign up by 1 July 2009 via the link below.

A Million Little Pictures: Documentary

An Art House Co-op Project

During the summer of 2009, one thousand artists from around the world will document their lives in 24 frames using a simple disposable camera with a flash.

On September 25th, 2009, an exhibition housing over 24,000 photographs will be constructed to take you on an adventure through the lives of these thousand artists.
In an effort to bring the exhibition to the masses, we’ve decided that in addition to its opening in September at Art House Gallery in Atlanta, we’re going to bring the exhibition to the U.S. city that has the most participants.

We want to come to your city! To get us to come to your city, please tell all of your friends about the project! Remember, the goal is to create a collective of people with different nationalities, cultures, and geographic locations to interpret the same thing, meaning they don’t have to consider themselves a photographer or an artist to participate.

How it works:

After you sign up to participate in the project, we’ll send you a package in the mail containing a disposable camera (with a flash) and an instructional sheet.

You can use your camera, along with your endless imagination, to document your life in 24 frames. We want to give people a glimpse into your life. You can choose how much or how little to document and at how broad a scope. Get creative with it and use the term “document” as a guideline, not a restriction. After you finish shooting, simply develop the film and send the prints back to us to be included in the exhibition!

Important dates:

  * The deadline to sign up to receive your camera is July 1st, 2009.
  * All photos must be POSTMARKED back to us by September 1st, 2009.
  * The exhibition at Art House Gallery will be held on September 25th,
2009.
  * The second exhibition, which will be held at the city with the most participants, will be determined after sign ups end.

However, we do know that it will be scheduled for sometime between January and March, 2010.
