Gallery Member Spotlight - bailbr
In the latest installment of this regular series, we cast the spotlight on members of the PhotographyBLOG Gallery and ask them about their photography. The 11th member to sit in the interview chair is bailbr.
What
do you enjoy most about the Gallery?
I enjoy being able to submit images and have a very broad base of tastes view and comment on them, also I am able to see scores of other photographer�s work and that is extremely valuable.
Do you think being a Gallery member has helped improve your photography?
Absolutely. Being critiqued as well as being able to see and communicate with so many talented photographers has helped me as well as my photography improve.
Landscapes
are obviously your favourite topic - what is it that interests
you so much?
I enjoy landscapes because they are ever changing. The seasons bring complete personality changes, while weekly or even daily bring more subtle ones, they're never the same. I also like to hike and mountain climb to achieve images that are unique.
What
kind of equipment do use now, and what did you start with?
I currently shoot with a Canon EOS 20D. My lenses are 50mm 1.8, 24-85mm, and a 75-300mm. Filters I use are primarily ND Grads 2-3 stops. I use a Sekonic light/spot meter, Manfrotto tripod and it all fits together in my Lowepro expedition backpack. My first film SLR was a Canon AE 1, this is a totally manual camera and I still use it today.

What
is the one piece of advice that you would give to other budding
photographers?
Have your camera with you always, and take many pictures. Read some books by Ansel Adams and Galen Rowell about photography. Join a forum and submit your images for critiques, be thick skinned, and look at all the different styles of other photographers. Ooops that was three things, but they all really helped me.
