Gallery Member Spotlight - doyoulikeit

In a brand new series, we cast the spotlight on members of the PhotographyBLOG Gallery and ask them about their photography. The second member to sit in the interview chair is doyoulikeit.

What do you enjoy most about the Gallery?

I enjoy looking at the way people are using photography to express their view of our world.

Do you think being a Gallery member has helped improve your photography?

Yes, I think being a gallery member pushes me to try and improve my skills as a photographer. When I know that there are very talented photographers viewing my shots I want to try and keep them interested in my work.

Street scenes are obviously your favourite topic - what is it that interests you so much?

I'm always amazed at what I see in the streets and I like to try and capture those moments whenever possible. I find myself going out hunting for interesting people and the strange things that they do on the streets. Usually, when I see things on the street I am the only person around with a camera and I know it will be a unique shot. I always try and get as close as possible to my subjects, I feel it brings the intense feeling of the moment to life. It's not easy capturing people while trying not to be noticed but I think that is part of the thrill for me. Street photography is like a game to me, the winner gets a great image but the loser can get into a lot of trouble.

Have you sold any of your Gallery photographs? If so, what has been your biggest sale?

I actually haven't sold or even tried to sell a photograph that I have taken. People have asked to buy prints from me but I don't feel comfortable selling them. I have given a couple prints to friends and have allowed a few websites to use my photographs. I do plan on selling my pics soon.

What kind of equipment do you use now?

I shoot with a Nikon D70 and I started out using a Canon PowerShot 2.1 megapixel camera. I'm currently looking to upgrade but I'm not sure what to buy.

What is the one piece of advice that you would give to other budding photographers?

I would have to say take as many pictures as you can and continue learning as much as possible.
