Gallery Member Spotlight - fdinaro

In the latest installment of this regular series, we cast the spotlight on members of the PhotographyBLOG Gallery and ask them about their photography. The 10th member to sit in the interview chair is fdinaro.

What do you enjoy most about the Gallery?

The Gallery is the great place for the simple fact that it allows the photographer to experience work from around the world. Posting in the Gallery allows the photographer to share and compare work with others and receive input. I love input, whether good or bad it helps make a better photographer.

Do you think being a Gallery member has helped improve your photography?

It has helped a great deal. Constructive feedback helps. I would like to thank everyone in the Gallery for taking the time to critique my work.

Nature is obviously your favourite topic - what is it that interests you so much?

Photographing nature is my passion. I get to travel to unique locations in upstate New York, hike, climb, and interact with wildlife. I also enjoy visiting wildlife sanctuaries throughout New York State.

What kind of equipment do use now, and what did you start with?

My father gave me a Kodak Brownie when I was a kid, and that was all it took. I worked two jobs cutting grass for neighbors and saved up for my first 35mm SLR camera a Nikon Nikkormat with a 50mm 1.4 nikkor lens. I am now using a Nikon D2x and D200 DSLR body's with the following lenses Nikon 80-400vr, Nikon 17-55 2.8, Nikon 70-200 2.8. I also have a Canon 20d with a 100-400is. I could not choose between Nikon or Canon so I bought them both.lol

Have you sold any of your Gallery photographs?

I have not sold any Gallery work, I do it for my own enjoyment.

What is the one piece of advice that you would give to other budding photographers?

Many photographers look at a photo in the gallery and think "I wish I could take shots like that". So how do you get that good? Practice. It sounds simple but true ; practice will make you a better photographer. Practice helps with technical details and improves composition. Get out there and shoot. The great shot you are waiting for, will not come unless you venture out to get it.
