Apple Photos Review

Conclusion

There’s an important caveat to consider when thinking about a verdict on the new Photos app. This is just Version 1.0 and as such, it’s not yet perfect.

Lots of people, both Apple fans and otherwise, have been lamenting the loss of Aperture, and at first glance, it’s easy to see why.

For now, it’s worth keeping hold of your copy of Aperture while Apple figures out once and for all what to do with the Photos app, and it’s pretty fair to say that if you’re a serious photographer who wants to do lots of powerful edits, Photos is not really the app for you.

However, if you’re a complete Apple user, i.e., one that uses a Mac, an iPhone and an iPad, the way that iCloud syncs and organises your photos is very useful indeed, and it’s nice to see a streamlining of this process across all your devices.

It will be interesting to see how Photos adapts and changes over the coming months, but for a free piece of software, it’s pretty good.
