Sharpness at 105mm

The sharpness tests for this review were carried out using a real-world subject rather than a test chart. The Nikon Z MC 105mm f/2.8 VR S lens was attached to a Nikon Z6 II camera body, which in turn was mounted on a sturdy tripod. Self-timer mode was activated. Slight tonal changes are due to slight changes in natural light during the session.

Centre sharpness is outstanding even when shooting wide-open at f/2.8, through to f/16, with f/22 and particularly f/32 being adversely affected by diffraction.

The edge performance is almost as good as the centre, with f/2.8-f/16 again producing the sharpest results.
