Zeiss today officially announced their new Milvus 1.4/25 Distagon lens. Developed for full-frame Canon and Nikon cameras, this 25mm lens is suitable primarily for landscape and architecture photography and journalistic applications. “Even at full aperture, there are hardly any colour fringes,” says Christophe Casenave, Product Manager at Zeiss. “The finest details can be reproduced in high definition and contrast all the way into the corners.” The large, 172-degree focus rotation angle enables precise manual focusing, whilst the metal housing offers protective seals against dust and dirt, making the Zeiss Milvus 1.4/25 a real all-weather lens. Thanks to the de-click function in the the Nikon-mount version, the aperture can be adjusted continuously, which is great news for videographers. The Zeiss Milvus 1.4/25 retails for £1,999 including VAT (RRP) and will be available from December 2017.
Zeiss have launched a new lens for full-frame DSLR cameras from Canon and Nikon - the Zeiss Milvus 1.4/35. With aspherical lens elements, special glass materials and advanced correction, Zeiss have given the lens a completely new optical design. “This means the photos are practically free from chromatic aberrations," says Christophe Casenave, Product Manager at Zeiss. Thanks to their excellent edge-to-edge imagery the Zeiss Milvus lenses are designed for high-performance digital cameras. "The resolutions of camera sensors are constantly becoming higher, and this also increases the demands made on the lenses. For Zeiss Milvus lenses this is no problem. They are a solid investment in the future." The new Zeiss Milvus 1.4/35 will be available from specialist dealers and in the Zeiss Online Shop from July 2017. The recommended retail price is €1,999.
At BVE 2017, Zeiss will be showcasing a wide variety of cinematography and photography lenses, paired with a number of market leading cameras such as the RED Epic-W 8K, Sony FS7 and ARRI Amira. These will include the new Lightweight Zoom LWZ.3, the company's range of Cinema Zoom CZ.2 lenses and Compact Prime CP.2 lenses, as well as the Otus, Milvus, Batis, Loxia and Touit family of lenses designed for Canon, Nikon, Sony E and Fuji X-mount camera systems. In addition to displaying their products, Zeiss will be giving visitors to the stand the chance to enter a competition to win a brand new ExoLens Pro Wide-Angle lens for their smartphones.
