PMA 2007 Report

Welcome to the Final version of my PMA 2007 Report. The Photo Marketing Association (PMA) Annual Convention and Trade Show took place this year in Las Vegas, USA and ran from 8th - 11th March 2007. PMA is the world's largest annual photo imaging trade show, where all the major photography manufacturers unveiled their new product line-ups for 2007 and beyond. Just like last year, PhotographyBLOG covered PMA live from the show floor. There were a lot of announcements both in the weeks leading up to PMA and during the 4 days of the show itself, all of which are included in our PMA 2007 Report. I've been walking round the show looking for the most interesting products, taking exclusive photos of the real thing and finding out as much information as possible about them. Here are my live show reports, in no particular order.

Hot Products

I've selected my Hot Products from all the PMA 2007 announcements that have been made, as the industry big-hitters reveal their 2007 line-ups...

Canon EOS-1D Mark III - DSLR camera offering 10.1 megapixels and 10fps shooting for up to 110 JPEG or 30 RAW images, two DIGIC III processors, 14-bit image processing, 3.0 inch LCD with Live View mode, ISO 6400, 19 point auto-focusing and the EOS Integrated Cleaning System.	Nikon D40x - 10.2 megapixel DSLR, producing 3,872 x 2,592-pixel images, 3D Colour Matrix Metering II system and 2.5 inch LCD screen, all in the most compact Nikon DSLR body ever.	Olympus P-1 - The Olympus P-1 professional DSLR is on it's way - that's the message from Olympus ahead of this year's PMA, as official photos and a tentative "later this year" target have been released.
Olympus E-510 - 10 megapixel Live MOS sensor, Live Preview on the 2.5 inch LCD screen and a Supersonic Wave Filter for dust protection. Replaces the E-500 and also features a built-in image stabiliser in the camera body and a new image processing engine.	Sigma DP1 - The DP1 will feature a 14 megapixel FOVEON X3, APS-C size image sensor (2652 × 1768 × 3 layers) as used in the new Sigma SD14 digital SLR. The size of the image sensor used in the Sigma DP1 camera is 10 times larger than in a normal compact digital camera. The DP1 has a 16.6mm f/4 Sigma lens, equivalent to 28mm on a 35mm film camera.	Sony H9 - 8 megapixel camera, 3-inch, flip-up LCD screen, 15x optical stabilized zoom lens, ISO 3200, face-detection, NightShot technology and HDTV output.
Tamron 28-300mm Lens with Vibration Compensation - The Tamron AF 28-300mm F/3.5-6.3 XR Di VC LD Aspherical (IF) MACRO zoom lens is the first ever lens from Tamron to feature built-in image stabilisation, dubbed Vibration Compensation.	Olympus SP-550 UZ - First digital camera to offer an 18x optical zoom lens, equivalent to 28-504mm, Dual Image Stabilization system, 6.4cm LCD sceen, Super Macro mode (Icm focusing), PASM exposure modes and 23 scene modes.	Leica 14-150mm Four Thirds Lens - The new LEICA D VARIO-ELMAR 14-150mm/ F3.5-5.6 ASPH./ MEGA O.I.S., lens offers a focal range of 28-300mm in 35mm terms and complies with the Four Thirds System and is the first to incorporate Extra Silent Motor (XSM) technology, which assures quick, quiet, accurate auto focusing control.
Canon TX1 - 7.1 megapixel camera, 10x optical zoom lens (39mm-390mm) with Optical Image Stabilization, 115,000-pixel Vari-Angle LCD screen, 30 fps High Definition (HD) 720p widescreen (16:9) movie mode and recording CD quality Stereo Sound in 44 KHz.	Nikon Coolpix P5000 - 10 megapixel camera with a 3.5x zoom lens (36-126mm), Vibration Reduction to combat camera shake, ISO 3200 capability and a 2.5 inch LCD screen.	Sony W200 - 12 megapixel camera, 3x optical zoom lenses, metal bodies, 2.5-inch LCD screens and an eye-level viewfinder.
Kodak 5500, 5300 and 5100 All-in-One Printers - New printers promise to save customers up to 50% on everything they print. Kodak have spent $500 million and 3.5 years of development time to enter the inkjet market.	Lexar Professional UDMA 300x Memory Cards - Speed-rated at 300x, or capable of a minimum sustained write speed of 45MB per second. The cards have to be used with a UDMA-enabled device, such as Lexar’s new Professional FireWire 800 Reader, to achieve this speed.	Panasonic DMC-TZ3 - 7.2 megapixel camera, 10x optical zoom (28-280mm), Optical Image Stabiliser, 3 inch LCD screen.
