Great review. I’ve used the latest this latest Pentax for my
wedding photography in Brighton and it’s fulfilled all my expectations.

As an owner of the original Q I have to say they are fun cameras! They just feel nice to use and take a good picture.
There is a lot of stigma attached to the Q series, I have met far too many idiots that compare it to their NEX, or other mirrorless, the Q7 is a bloody compact camera! you have to compare it to a Canon G15 or Olympus XZ-2 not something with a sensor that’s 4X larger! Of cause it cant compete!
Treat it like an advanced compact with the magic ability to change lenses and you wont be disappointed.

Dan, even G15 and the like are compared with other CSC’s due to their prices. Thanks to CSC pricing, all advanced compacts are questioned whether they are worth or not.

Isn’t the bottom part of a camera?

Where are the RAWs?

Nice, fair review.
One thing I’m surprised doesn’t get a mention is that the standard zoom starts at a 23mm equivalent!
Try to buy a comparable zoom for a competitor CSC and you will see that the lens alone costs more than the Q7 in the set with both zooms.

A system is made or broken by its lenses. And Pentax really needs to step up their game. Out of the 7 lenses only 3 are useful on the Q7 as all the toy lenses have their sensor cropped!

We’ve just added some RAW sample images.

Hay Mark, you guys reviewed the MX-1 as well, how would you compare the image quality between the two of them? Nice to hear from somebody who has used both. Thanks.

@Mark G:

Thank you for the raws, is it possible to post an ISO 1600 raw, one with shadows to stress the sensor?

In other words there are no high ISO raws, but there are high ISO jpegs.

An almost identical review to the one by Paul Nuttall on 16 Sep 2013. Plagiarize much?
