Photosimile 5000 is the world’s first office photography machine, allowing anyone to create professional, shadow-free pictures. Launched by Ortery Technologies, the Photosimile 5000 is a combination of 28 x 28 x 28” light box, Canon digital camera and powerful workflow software. Photosimile 5000 also creates 360-degree product shots and spherical 3D flash animations. Photosimile 5000 is compatible with Windows ME/2000/XP and will be available March 2008, price to beconfirmed.

Pretec has announced a 48GB CompactFlash card, enough capacity to save 40,000 photos in regular size. Pretec’s new world-beater is not only big, but fast too, with its 233x speed rating capable of reading data at up to 35MB per second. The Pretec 48GB CompactFlash card also uses a metal housing and ruggedized construction, so all in all it sounds ideal for the professional photographer. Pretec are also introducing new CompactFlash cards in sizes from 2GB-24GB which are even faster (333x, 50MB/sec). Price and availability of all the cards is still to be confirmed, but that 48GB version won’t be cheap…

LaCie announced today increased capacity to 320GB for its Rugged All-Terrain Hard Disk and the 2.5-inch Little Disk external hard drives. “People have a tendency nowadays to travel more and need extra space to store and share their data. Just a few years ago, maximum capacity for a standard 2.5-inch mobile hard drive was just 80GB,” said Nolwenn Rozen, LaCie Mobile Product Manager.  “Today LaCie is capable of reaching capacity four times greater than what was once available.” The 320GB Rugged and 2.5-inch Little Disk can store up to 400 movies, 72,000 Songs, or 288,000 photos. Available in late January, both the Rugged All-Terrain Hard Disk and the 2.5-inch Little Disk will cost $199.

The new Toshiba 2.5-inch 320GB USB 2.0 Portable External Hard Drive can store up to 91,000 digital photos. The new model features a stylish design in a sleek finish, along with a splash of color available in Carbon Grey, Hot Rod Red and Gecko Green, plus it offers a 20% smaller footprint than the previous line. The Toshiba 320GB drive is bundled with the award-winning NTI Shadow backup software and is available this month for $199. In addition, Toshiba are introducing a new USB 2.0 Mobile External Hard Drive based on the 1.8-inch platform. 60GB, 80GB and 120GB models will be available this spring, prices to be announced.

The Samsung Spinpoint A1 is a Compact Flash card-sized hard disk drive for use in mobile consumer devices. Initially available in 30GB and 40GB models, the Samsung Spinpoint A1 offers higher storage capacity, higher shock resistance, and lower power consumption than conventional memory cards. “Samsung is leading the blockbuster demand for portable consumer devices that offer greater capacities for storing information, music, videos and games,” said Andy Higginbotham, director of hard drive sales and marketing, Samsung Semiconductor. “This new drive will fit within the dimensions of the already widely adopted Compact Flash type II card form factor.” The Samsung Spinpoint A1 is currently shipping for $199.

MediaStreet is adding 6 new eMotion digital photo frames to its line-up. The 15” eMotion Digital Photo / Art frame “Thomas F. McKnight Edition” is bundled with the artist’s latest book “Arcadia.” Also debuting are two new 10.4” eMotion multimedia digital picture frames, one with illuminating ambient blue and a second with interchangeable wood surrounds. Kodak has announced a suite of new products that aim to make photography easy and enjoyable. “For 120 years, Kodak has helped consumers capture life-long memories and now, in this digital age, it all comes to life in high definition on HD displays, wireless picture frames and big bright prints - easily, affordably and without compromise.” said Pierre Schaeffer, Chief Marketing Officer, Kodak’s Consumer Digital Imaging Group. New products include the V1273, M1033 and Z1085 cameras, plus the ESP 3 All-in-One Printer.

The new Pocket Album OLED photo viewers from Digital Foci feature cutting edge OLED technology which provides excellent display of images from almost any viewing angle. The Pocket Album Deluxe OLED 2.8 has a 2.8-inch screen and can store more than 3,000 photos. The Pocket Album OLED 1.5 is a digital keychain with a 1.5-inch screen holding 120 photos. The world’s largest digital picture frame, the 32 inch Smartparts SP3200, has been unveiled at the CES show in Las Vegas. The SP3200 is a 16:9 widescreen LCD panel with a resolution of 1366x768 pixels. Also announced is the SP8PRT, the world’s first and only digital picture frame with a built-in photo printer. “The impressive SP3200 and highly-versatile SP8PRT are indicative of our dedication to provide consumers with innovative and cutting-edge digital frames,” said Stefan Guelpen, president and co-founder of Smartparts.

Lexar has announced its new line of Crucial solid state drives (SSDs), which are more durable, require less power, and offer better performance than traditional hard disk drives. The Crucial SSDs will be available in 32GB and 64GB capacities in a 2.5-inch drive enclosure with a SATA 3.0Gb/s interface. Crucial SSDs are the ideal choice for photographers who require a reliable, durable, versatile, and convenient option for storing their work. In addition, Lexar is also announcing the Crucial SK01 External Drive Storage Kit, which delivers the benefits of SSD technology to a user’s desktop. The kit will allow users to enjoy SSD technology installed in their desktop or as a portable storage device via a USB port.

The SanDisk Cruzer Titanium Plus is a new USB flash drive that offers automatic online backup for every file copied to the drive. Data is always available when Cruzer Titanium Plus is plugged into any computer. Users also get quick access to their backed-up files through any computer connected to the Internet, should they forget to bring the drive with them, or if the drive is lost or stolen. “This is true ‘set it and forget it’ data protection. Digital Foci is launching three new digital photo frames at CES 2008 (held January 7th-10th). The Image Moments 15 frame (pictured) has a large 15-inch screen and 16.2 million colors. Image Moments 8 offers an 8-inch screen with leading technology LED Backlight. Image Moments 6 comes with a 5.7-inch screen and the highest pixel density display available on the market. Image Moments 15 (IMT-153) is priced at $399, Image Moments 8 (IMT-083) is priced at $199, and Image Moments 6 (IMT-063) is priced at $149, all available from March 2008.

The Samsung SPF-83V is a new 8 inch digital photo frame based on Microsoft technology. Photos can be viewed wirelessly from sharing sites such as Windows Live Spaces or from your PC. The Samsung SPF-83V frame also communicates with Windows Media Player and open standards such as RSS. “Our latest digital photo frames, based on cutting-edge technology from the Microsoft Research labs, are easy to use and are one of the few offerings in the marketplace that offer a ‘network’ approach to digital photo sharing.” said Christopher Franey, vice president of Commercial Sales and Marketing at Samsung Electronics America.
