This product is the fourth model in the Unique-Lens series and features an angle of view equivalent to 53.0mm in 35mm terms when mounted on the new Pentax Q7 body (or 63.5mm on the older Pentax Q or Q10 models). Measuring a mere 6.9mm in length, the lens is thin and compact, allowing users to take it anywhere. The Pentax-07 Mount Shield Lens will be available from September for $79.95. Schneider Kreuznach has reconfirmed its plans to launch several full-frame lenses for video shooting with DSLR cameras, called “FF-Primes." Aimed at satisfying the growing demand from ambitious and professional cinematographers and photographers, the new Schneider Kreuznach Xenon FF-Primes will be available for Canon and Nikon digital SLR cameras. The new Schneider Xenon FF-Prime lenses will be available in the second half of 2013.

Samsung has announced a 10mm fisheye lens for its NX system. Billed as the smallest AF fisheye lens on the market, the Samsung 10mm f/3.5 weighs in at only 72 grams, and has a diagonal angle of view of 180 degrees. The optical formula comprises 7 elements in 5 groups including one aspherical element, and an iris diaphragm with 7 rounded blades. Canon has announced an optically stabilised ultra-wide-angle zoom lens for the Canon EOS M compact system camera. Roughly equivalent to a classic 18-35mm optic in 35mm terms, the Canon EF-M 11-22mm f/4-5.6 IS STM features a retractable lens design locked in place by a switch, which allows users to retract the lens back into the barrel when not in use. As Canon's first-ever incterchangeable ultra-wide-angle lens boasting an optical image stabiliser, the Canon EF-M 11-22mm f/4-5.6 IS STM is also optimised for movie shooting, courtesy of an advanced Dynamic IS mode that helps users capture steady video footage. The near-silent STM technology also ensures focus noise is suppressed during movie capture. The Canon EF-M 11-22mm f/4-5.6 IS STM will be available from July, priced at £380 / €450.

Carl Zeiss has announced availability and pricing details for its Touit 2.8/12 and Touit 1.8/32 compact system camera lenses. Available now, the Carl Zeiss Touit 2.8/12 ultra-wide angle lens (pictured) carries a recommended retail price of €920 / $1,250, whilst the Carl Zeiss Touit 1.8/32 "standard prime" can be yours for €670 / $900. Both lenses come in Fuji X and Sony E mount versions.

Via its Facebook fan page, Samyang Asia has announced the upcoming launch of a 24mm equivalent rectilinear lens for dSLRs and CSCs with APS-C sized sensors. The new Samyang 16mm f/2.0 ED AS UMC CS is a manual-focus lens featuring 13 elements arranged in 11 groups and a 77mm filter thread. Weighing in at 571g, the Samyang 16mm f/2 ED AS UMC CS will be available in Canon EF, Canon EF-M, Four Thirds, Micro Four Thirds, Fuji X, Nikon F, Pentax, Samsung NX, Sony A and Sony E mounts. Note that on Canon and - especially - Four Thirds and Micro Four Thirds bodies, the lens will have a tighter field of view (~26mm equivalent on Canon and 32mm on [M]FT). Pricing has yet to be communicated.

Canon today announced the achievement of a new lens manufacturing milestone - the company’s 90-millionth EF-series interchangeable lens. The manufacture of Canon’s EF lenses first began in March 1987 alongside the introduction of Canon’s first EOS SLR camera system at the company’s Utsunomiya plant. The range now comprises 80 different models including the new EF 200-400mm f/4L IS USM Extender 1.4x (pictured). In addition to a range of EF and EF-S lenses designed for DSLRs, the line-up now includes an expanding selection of 4K-resolution EF Cinema Lenses. In July 2012, Canon also announced a new line of EF-M lenses developed specifically for the company’s EOS M compact system camera.

Canon today officially announced its EF 200-400mm f/4L IS USM Extender 1.4x lens. For a new product, the Canon EF 200-400mm f/4L IS USM Extender 1.4x already has quite a bit of history. Canon first issued a development notice in February 2011. A "hand-built" (prototype) version was used at the 2012 Summer Olympics by sports photographer Jeff Cable, and we firrst delivered a set of hands-on photos in March 2013, during the Focus on Imaging show held in Birmingham, UK. Key features include a built-in 1.4x teleconverter to extend the reach to 560mm with very little loss of quality (easily activated by a switch on the lens barrel), a built-in filter holder, 2 customisable function buttons, and an innovative stepped focusing ring designed especially for video. The Canon EF 200-400mm f/4 L IS USM Extender 1.4x lens will go on sale in June, priced at £11,999.99 / €13,999.99.
