A new website called LightingDiagram.com provides a web-based software tool to allow customers to create photographic lighting diagrams and upload photographs to display alongside thier lighting diagram. Developed by ChimpWorks, the LightingDiagram app may be of interest to any photographer who would like to show off what lighting setup they used to create a particular photograph. As with any other web-based service, it is recommended that you read the terms and conditions before using the app.

Rivolu has released TideTrac 1.0.1 for iPad, and the app is currently available for free. A useful tool for landscape photographers, TideTrac allows you to quickly find high tide and low tide events anywhere near coastal United States. Incorporating an interactive tide graph and a Map view to visualise the locations of tide stations, the app presents all of its data on a single screen making it easy to use. TideTrac is available on iTunes.

Plum Amazing Software has released iWatermark 1.1, which adds iPhoto and Aperture integration. iWatermark lets you add your personal or business watermark to any photo or graphic. Cypress Innovations has launched piRAWnha for iPhone to complement the existing piRAWnha app for iPad. The new app enables iPhone users to edit the raw data and once the settings have been optimised, a high?quality JPEG image file can be exported to the Photo Library. Currently, piRAWnha works with all raw files supported by Apple and supports raw image files transferred to the iPhone via iTunes. The iPhone app is available on iTunes for $4.99.

The new Silver Shadows 2 black-and-white toolkit is now available for Adobe Photoshop Lightroom. Compatible with Lightroom 1, 2 and 3 for PC and Mac, the plug-in has been re-mastered and expanded to include over 100 refined black-and-white presets. “It’s been four years since Silver Shadows 1 was introduced,” says developer and photographer Gavin Seim. “Version 1 was powerful, but it’s nothing compared to the delicate hand-chiseled granite that makes up Silver Shadows 2.” The plug-in is available now for immediate download at the introductory price of $45. Tiffen has updated its Dfx filter suite to add compatibility with Avid Media Composer v6, Symphony v6, and NewsCutter v10, as well as support for a number of new (and older) Sony digital cameras. Topaz Labs have released a major update to their Topaz Adjust Photoshop plug-in. Version 5 includes an intuitive selective adjustment brush, over 100 new presets for a faster workflow, effect stacking, transparency control, a new finishing touches tab and a number of other user-requested features.“For Adjust 5, our challenge was to make it better without taking anything away from the success of the previous version. We were able to take our recent technological advances in user interface customization and program architecture, introduced in our recent B&W Effects and Lens Effects programs, and blend them with the existing Adjust infrastructure,” said Jawad Malik, developer for Topaz Labs. Nikon’s iP-PJ Transfer App enables users of the Nikon Coolpix S1200pj digital compact camera to project content stored on an iPhone or iPod touch using the camera’s built-in projector. Until now, content that could be projected using an iOS device and the Coolpix S1200pj was limited to slideshows and the streaming of YouTube videos but the iP-PJ also enables projection of individual photos and thumbnails. Available now, the app is a free download from the iTunes App Store.

Nikon has updated its ‘my Picturetown Pad’ App for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch to include iOS 5 support. The app gives users of the company’s my Picturetown image sharing and storage service a convenient way to access their photos and movies from any supported iOS device. Moreover, the ‘my Picturetown Pad’ app also allows Motion Snapshots generated with the Nikon 1 V1 and J1 cameras to be played back on the user’s iPad, iPhone or iPod touch. The app is available as a free download from the iTunes App Store.

Zoner Software has released a new version of its flagship software Zoner Photo Studio. Among the most important new features are new editing functions - such as Tone Mapping and ‘Fill with Surroundings’, CUDA/OpenCL support, and direct integration with the Zonerama web photo sharing service. DxO Labs has released DxO Film Pack 3.1, the latest version of its film simulation software. Compatible with Mac and Windows, DxO FilmPack 3.1 comes in 2 editions — Essential and Expert —, which differ in terms of number of film renditions and features. The two editions of DxO FilmPack 3.1 are available as standalone applications and as plugins for DxO Optics Pro, Photoshop, Lightroom and Aperture. Panorama Concepts have released Classique Camera, an iOS app that enables users to create retro-looking photos and film clips. The app features Classic, Rosa, Hippie, Gothic, Blues, Sunset and Disco filters that can be applied “on the fly” to photos and videos being captured, and can also be used to re-process existing movies. Classique Camera is available on iTunes for $0.99.

Adobe has posted Release Candidates (RCs) for Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) 6.6 and Photoshop Lightroom 3.6, adding support for new cameras including the Nikon 1 V1 and J1, the Canon Powershot S100, the Panasonic GX1 and the Samsung NX5 (pictured). Additionally, the new release candidates contain bug fixes and new profiles for 4 Canon, 6 Nikon, 1 Sony, 5 Sigma and 15 Phase One / Mamiya / Schneider-Kreuznach lenses. A “Rrelease Candidate” label indicates that this update is well tested but would benefit from additional community testing before it is distributed automatically to all Adobe customers.
