Flip Video has announced an update to its FlipShare software, and launched a suite of FlipShare Mobile apps for Android, iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. The FlipShare software, which comes with every Flip video camera, now has enhanced video sharing capabilities - including FlipShare Groups, a new and social way for consumers to share video more securely. The mobile apps allow users to share up to five mobile videos and/or photos at once to Facebook, YouTube or Twitter, post a comment with the click of a button, and include a set of built-in filters let users quickly navigate and organise their video library.

Snappix has been updated to Version 1.1. This iPhone app allows you to take four shots with the camera in quick succession, combine them into a single frame, and e-mail them to friends or send them to Facebook, Twitter or img.ly directly without leaving the app. The update brings about faster image capture, location tagging of images for display on a map, a different display and selection of thumbnails, and more. Snappix is available through the iTunes App Store for $0.99.

Iridient Digital has released a major update to Iridient Raw Developer. Version 1.9.1 includes support for several new camera models including the Fujifilm Finepix X100 (read review), F550EXR and HS20EXR (HS22EXR). It also brings about faster scrolling through thumbnails of Pentax PEF files, and adds several new keyboard shortcuts for zooming and navigating around the image preview.

Macphun has updated FX Photo Studio to version 3.2, offering six new filters, faster image processing and the ability to capture edit images taken directly from the Apple iPad 2. The new filters form the basis of a new category called Sketches. FX Photo Studio 3.2 is only $0.99 for iPhone and $1.99 for iPad and available worldwide exclusively through the iTunes App Store.

Sort Shots is an iPad app that enables users to quickly and and easily locate and assign tags to one or more photographs. The application imports the keywords assigned to photographs via iTunes Folders or FTP using popular photographic software including Adobe Lightroom, Bridge, Elements, Apple Aperture and iPhoto, Nik Software Capture NX and Microsoft Expression Media and Photo Gallery. The latest version, v2.4, incorporates a variety of new features, including wireless printing, metadata display in full-screen view, enhanced gesture support, and more. Bibble 5.2.2 provides broader raw file support, improved stability, and resolves minor issues found in previous releases of Bibble 5. Aptogo has announced Version 2.0 of Showtime Lite, a free photo presentation app for iOS devices. With Showtime Lite, a user can enjoy their iPhone and iPod touch photos on the big screen without the need for syncing or cables. Photos can be displayed on any browser-based device on the local WiFi network including a Mac/PC, internet TV or games console. The user can drive the presentation using the iPhone as a remote control. Showtime Lite offers most of the features of Showtime Pro, except for the ability to download and upload full-resolution videos and photos with EXIF. The new inFocus (Essentials) app is a generic camera guide that explains the main features and functions of a modern DSLR. Published by In Focus, a photographic training centre based in the Peak District National Park, England, this app covers all the basics, from metering and histograms to exposure variables and focus modes. A set of full-colour pictures and diagrams complement the written material. inFocus (Essentials) costs £1.79 and is available from the iTunes App Store.

DxO Labs have released a new version of DxO Optics Pro, adding support for the Canon EOS 600D and 1100D, as well as the Olympus E-PL1. Version 6.5.6 is a free upgrade to everyone who purchased DxO Optics Pro since 1 July 2009. The company also announced the addition of 50 new DxO Optics Modules, covering numerous Canon, Nikon and Fuji cameras.

Apple has issued an update for Apple Aperture 3. Version 3.1.2improves overall stability and performance, and fixes a few bugs related to importing iPhoto 9 libraries.

Nikon has updated its View NX 2 software to version 2.1.2. The update applies to Windows users only. The new version fixes a bug with Nikon’s My Picturetown.

AKVIS has just released a new program called HDRFactory. The software creates HDR-images from a series of photographs taken at different exposures, or from a single photograph. HDRFactory also includes an efficient deghosting tool for removing ghost artifacts that sometimes appear when combining photos with moving objects. AKVIS HDRFactory can also be used for photo correction. You can adjust color saturation and brightness, and bring out the detail in dark and bright areas. The software is available in two versions - as an independent program (standalone) and as a plugin to a photo editor. The price of a Home Licence is $69.

Blurb today unveiled Version 3.0 of its bookmaking software, Blurb BookSmart. The program now includes the two most-requested features from Blurb customers: a two-page photo spread and a way to change the size of an existing photo book. Moreover, it is also possible to convert the pocket sized text book format to the larger trade size. BookSmart 3.0 is available for download from Blurb’s website.

Boinx Software has updated its You Gotta See This! app to Version 2.0. Designed originally for iPhone 4 technology, You Gotta See This! gives users the ability to choose between the two built-in cameras, hit record, point, and capture their surroundings in an arbitrary, 3D fashion for eye-catching results. Version 2.0 adds support for the iPad 2, plus a brand new transparent theme for the easy integration of images into creative workflows, Flickr and Facebook sharing, and high-resolution/full size preview viewing.

Adobe Photoshop Express 2.0 for iOS introduces a new Adobe Camera Pack for in-app purchase. The Camera Pack for Adobe Photoshop Express 2.0 includes a Reduce Noise feature, Self Timer and Auto Review for easy playback. The Adobe Camera Pack is available for in-app purchase for £2.39.

VueScan, the world’s most widely used scanning software, now supports Mac OS X 10.7 Lion. VueScan supports more than 1600 scanners, and is available for Mac OS X, Windows and Linux. VueScan is available in two editions, Standard Edition ($39.95 USD) and Professional Edition ($79.95). The Professional Edition adds unlimited free upgrades, advanced IT8 color calibration and support for raw scan files.

Zaplife is a new photo blogging website and iPhone application. Zaplife aims to offer a new simple easy to use format that combines features from photo sharing services and social network applications, creating a unique and versatile photographic experience.
