Landscape and architectural photographer Tom Mackie is running a new landscape and architectural workshop in Andalucia, Spain. You will get the opportunity to learn from Tom in a very small team whilst shooting amazing images of Andalucia’s famous whitewashed villages. Tom will share the secrets to his success and show you how to keep your creative-eye looking for those unique shots that he achieves time after time. This event takes place on 19th - 26th May 2009.

The Nature Conservancy’s website, nature.org, has launched a new bi-monthly audio slideshow from their director of photography, Mark Godfrey. Mark walks you through some of The Nature Conservancy’s most captivating nature photography images and explains the story behind the shot. Blurb are running a free webinar tutorial that will take your bookmaking skills to the next level. Taking place at 6pm PDT on Wednesday 18th March, this intermediate webinar explores several design ideas you can use in your books, providing you with some great tips straight from Blurb’s designers. There will also be time for questions at the end of the webinar.

“The Language of One Light: Roundtable with Will Crockett” is a free instructional webinar. The Asian Wedding is a new seminar from Annabel Williams’ Contemporary Photographic Training. The seminar is hosted by guest speaker Tushar Shah, who has established one of the most successful Asian Wedding Studios in the UK. The first seminar is on 30th April 2009, priced at £250+VAT, with further dates planned for later in the year.

Colour Confidence have launched an interactive training video for the X-Rite ColorMunki Photo. The flash-based tool will educate users in the basics of colour management and all aspects of the ColorMunki Photo. “The release of this series of videos is another excellent tool from X-Rite, which will help users achieve accurate colour and make managing their colour an easier task.” commented Geoffrey Clements, Managing Director, Colour Confidence.

Yosemite’s Horsetail Falls is the subject of The Ansel Adams Gallery’s first One Day Workshop. Michael Frye, author of the Photographer’s Guide to Yosemite, will lead up to ten participants to photograph Horsetail Fall’s waterfall, which appears to glow orange-red, as if on fire. The workshop takes place on February 20th and 22nd and costs $225.

Olympus has launched new photography classes for beginner and intermediate DSLR camera users. Each class will be taught using one of Olympus’ popular consumer DSLRs, like the E-420, E-520 and E-30, and consumers will learn about vital elements of photography, including aperture, shutter speed, exposure and metering. Starting in in February, the half-day courses will be held at six locations throughout North America.

The Royal Photographic Society has unveiled its workshop programme for 2009. New for this year are the ‘Fashion Photography’, ‘Product Photography’ and two business focused workshops. All workshops are open to members and non-members of The Society, and are held at the RPS headquarters in Bath.

Better Photography - Portraits in Natural Light is a new DVD from former Sunday Times photographer Philip Dunn. This 60 minute DVD is aimed at photographers of all levels wanting to improve their portraits using natural light. Dunn explains “I demonstrate that with a little understanding of light, lenses and poses, you can create really powerful and interesting portraits without the expense and trouble of using photography studio lights.” The Better Photography - Portraits in Natural Light DVD costs £14.95 including postage in the UK.

Photoshop author Derrick Story is giving a webcast focusing on the important features in Photoshop CS4 for photographers. Taking place on Tuesday, December 16 at 10:30 a.m. PST, Story will demonstrate how to use Adobe Photoshop effectively for post production and also host an online Q&A forum. Those who attend the Webcast will receive 45 days complimentary access to The Photoshop CS4 Companion for Photographers on Safari Books Online and the first 10 registrants to attend will receive an autographed copy of the printed book.

The Nikon Solutions Expo professional photography show takes place next week. Held on 9-10th December at Olympia Conference Centre, London, Nikon Solutions Expo covers the complete photography workflow, from inspiration, to tips and advice on getting the right shots, to software processing and printing. A selection of high profile photographers will also be giving talks at the show, including Alex Bailey, Joe Cornish and Donovan Wylie. Entry to the Nikon Solutions Expo is free when you register online.

Photo Iconic is running two photography workshops with Intrepid Travel in London, UK. Taking place on Wednesday 10th December, the two courses are Creative digital photography and Travel photography with a digital camera. Each course costs £40, but all participants receive £100 in vouchers towards Intrepid trips and Photo Iconic courses.

HP is running a series of free seminars, in collaboration with Magnum Photos, with workshops on the new HP Designjet Z3200 Photo Printer. The HP Photography and Printing Master Class Road Show will visit seven cities from London to Dubai between now and February. Each seminar will feature an inspirational presentation by a Magnum photographer followed by workshops focusing on the Z3200. Participating Magnum photographers include Thomas Hoepker, Alessandra Sanguinetti, Donovan Wylie, Patrick Zachmann, Carl De Keyzer and Martin Parr.

The Master of Professional Studies in Digital Photography degree is designed for working professionals looking to improve their skills in digital image capture. Starting in Autumn 2009, the one-year course takes a unique approach by combining web-based education with a summer residency. “This program is ideal for anyone who has a deep passion for exploring the confluence of photographic aesthetics and digital technology but can’t relocate to New York for a full calendar year of study.
