Redrock Micro have announced the new microEVF electronic viewfinder for HDSLR cameras. The Redrock microEVF is the first electronic viewfinder designed from the ground up specifically for HDSLRs, The new Redrock microEVF is an external electronic viewfinder that connects to the camera body and can be placed anywhere for maximum comfort and stability, and can be part of a multi-monitor solution. The microEVF uses a custom made state-of-the-art backlit LED fitted in an attractive, ergonomic housing. Redrock MicroEVF is priced at $595, availability has not yet been announced.

The Sigma EF-610 DG SUPER is a new flashgun with a powerful Guide Number of 61. Among the advanced features of the EF 610 DG SUPER is a modeling flash function, multi-pulse flash, TTL wireless flash, FP (high speed) flash, rear-curtain Synchro flash and manual flash mode. The autozoom function automatically sets the optimum illumination angle in accordance with the lens’ focal length in a range from 24mm to 105mm. When the built-in Wide Panel is used, the flash can cover an angle of 17mm. For bounce flash, the flashgun head can be tilted up by 90 degrees, to the left by 180 degrees, or to the right by 90 degrees.

The Novoflex MagicBalance is a new compact leveling head. Ideal as a base for 3D cameras and panorama systems, the MagicBalance can be turned 15° in all directions and fixed with only one hand by means of a fixing screw. The Novoflex MagicBalance leveling head will be available from November 2010 for 149 Euros.

The Novoflex Ball NQ is a new low profile ball-and-socket head. The easy-to-move Novoflex Ball NQ permits a 360° rotation and can be locked in any desired position by means of a winged screw. The Ball NQ will be available in November 2010 for 189 Euros.

The new Hama Daytour range of camera backpacks comprises two models, the Hama Daytour Backpack 230 (€139) and the slightly more compact Hama Daytour Backpack 180 (€99). These backpacks can accommodate an SLR camera with an arsenal of eight to eleven lenses. The variable hook-and-loop connectors inside the backpack also allow for carrying a mixture of photo equipment. Both backpacks offer direct access to the camera from above, and the larger “Backpack 230” also features a quick-access on its side. When worn on the front, both versions present themselves as an excellent support when taking photos, the manufacturer says.

The Rogue FlashBender system of flexible light modifiers has just been launched in the UK market. The system uses built in positionable rods which allow FlashBenders to be moulded and held firmly in place so that light can be directed to exactly where it’s needed. Constructed from tough Cordura nylon, FlashBenders fit quickly and easily to a wide range of shoe mount flash units using the integrated Velcro fastening strap, and when not in use the FlashBenders will fold flat and fit into a camera bag. There are three models available, the large reflector measures 25x 28cm, the small 25x 18cm and the bounce card/flag, which includes a black fabric attachment so that light can be blocked rather than reflected, measures 13x23cm.

The Nissin MF18 is a feature-rich ring flash with a guide number of 16 in metres at ISO 100/21°. The Nikon SB-700 is a new system flash that has a multi-step zooming head covering the angle-of-view range of a 24-120mm lens in FX format. Moreover, the new Nikon SB-700 also incorporates FX/DX-format identification that optimises zoom settings based on the user’s camera body. The flash supports Nikon’s wireless TTL operation and can also be set up as a commander unit or a remote slave. The Nikon SB-700 also features a new Quick Wireless Mode with A:B (light ratios) for quick setting of multiple flash units. This makes it easy and quick to control two remote flash units in i-TTL mode. With a guide number of 38 (in metres at ISO 100/21°) at the 120mm setting, the recycle time of the SB-700 is approximately 2.5 seconds for full power with NiMH batteries, and approximately 3.0 seconds with AA Alkaline batteries. At Photokina, Ilford will unveil the new Infovinyl 3D Photo System co-developed with Photoplast. With this system, Ilford is targeting production houses, giving them a unique point-of-sale display option. The Infovinyl 3D process works by manipulating a traditional 2D photo into a 3D image, developing the standard Infovinyl media through regular RA4 equipment and applying the new Infoseal coating to the media. This seal is the differentiating ingredient which enables the entire 3D process, Ilford claims. Finally, the sealed Ilfovinyl is formed on a 3D mould. Ilfovinyl 3D Photo System samples will be available for preview at Photokina, and the product will be launched in October. Other Ilford products to be showcased at Photokina include Galerie fine-art papers and Omnijet commercial display solutions.
