Leica has announced that firmware update 2.1, along with Leica Image Shuttle 3.4 and the Leica Tethered Plug-in 1.1.0 for the Leica SL are now available to download. The Leica Image Shuttle 3.4 software improves workflow efficiency for tethered shooting with the Leica SL, and allows the camera to be controlled from a computer via USB. Additionally, the Leica Tethered Plug-in 1.1.0 establishes a direct connection between the Leica SL and Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 6 / CC via USB cable. The shutter release can be activated from the plug-in and the images captured can be displayed immediately in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 6 / CC. Firmware Version 2.1 is required to take advantage of these software updates. Registered Leica SL owners can opt to download the new firmware and software from the Leica Owner’s Area, or take their camera to their nearest Leica Store or Leica Customer Care in the UK for a complimentary update service.

Sony today announced the availability of a new radio-controlled lighting system. Designed for compatibility with Sony’s Alpha interchangeable lens cameras and external flash units, the new lighting system will include the FA-WRC1M wireless radio commander as well as the FA-WRR1 wireless radio receiver. The new system will start to ship in September 2016 with the FA-WRC1M Remote Commander priced at approximately €420 and the FA-WRR1 Remote Receiver priced at approximately €240.

The Sony Planar T* FE 50mm F1.4 ZA is a new full-frame lens for their E-mount camera system. This 50mm prime lens features a large F1.4 maximum aperture that offers impressive contrast and outstanding resolution that are hallmarks of the ZEISS brand. The new Fujifilm X-T2 compact system camera can shoot at 11fps with the with the VPB-XT2 battery grip attached, or a slightly slower 8fps if the grip isn't fitted.
The key difference is that shooting at 11fps is limited to 73 JPEGs / 30 Lossless Raws / 27 Uncompressed Raws, whereas at 8fps shooting appears to be unlimited, at least when the VPB-XT2 battery grip is fitted.
Here are a couple of video clips showing the Fujifilm X-T2 in action on both settings until the camera's buffer is full (using the JPEG setting).

The Fujifilm EF-X500 is a high-end multi-function external flash. The EF-X500 is a hot-shoe mount flash with the maximum guide number of 50. Its support for the FP mode (high-speed flash sync) means the flash can be fired at any shutter speed. The EF-X500 also supports multi-flash lighting. Firmware 2.0 for the X-Pro2 will add the new autofocus algorithm that is implemented on the new X-T2, incorporate compatibility with the new hot-shoe mount flash EF-X500, improve the parallax correction function, and add more Auto Power Off settings. The Fujifilm X-Pro2 Firmware 2.0 will be available for download in October 2016.

The Laowa Zero-D 12mm f/2.8 from Venus Optics is a new ultra wide angle lens for 35mm full-frame cameras. Available in Canon ,Nikon, Pentax and Sony E mounts, the Laowa Zero-D 12mm f/2.8 is comprised of 16 elements in 10 groups, including 2 aspherical elements and 3 elements made of glass with anomalous dispersion. This manual focus lens offers a field of view of 121.96°, 7 aperture blades, minimum focusing distance of 18cm, and an aperture range of f/2.8 - f/22. The lens is so new that we don't have an official picture yet (we've shown you the Laowa 15mm f/4 Macro lens instead), and the scheduled release date is "more likely to be August rather than July", according to distributor UK Optics Ltd.

Sigma have revealed availability and pricing for the new Sigma sd Quattro compact system camera. Building on the concept of the SD1 Merrill, the sd Quattro features a Sigma SA lens mount, making it compatible with all of the Sigma Global Vision lenses in the Contemporary, Art and Sports lines. Equipped with a 19.6-megapixel APS-C size sensor, the camera offers a combination of contrast-detect and phase-detect auto focus, plus a focus peaking function for manual focus enthusiasts. The high-resolution 2.36-million-dot electronic viewfinder features near-100% viewfinder coverage and a 1.09 magnification ratio. O-rings and environmental seals around buttons and seams prevent the intrusion of dust and water, making the camera suitable for use in adverse weather conditions.
