Sony S700Steves Digicams have reviewed the Sony DSC-S700, which offers 7.2 megapixels, 2.4 inch LCDa, ISO 1000 and a 3x optical zoom lens.

“Image quality is pleasing for an entry-level 7-megapixel model. Outdoors, the majority of our images were sharp, well exposed, and showed good color saturation. When viewing an image at 100%, you can see some traces of image noise, even at ISO 100. However, these are average amounts and it is unlikely you will see this in your prints. Just remember, as the sensitivity is increased, so is the amount of noise in your photos.”

Casio EX-Z1050TrustedReviews have reviewed the Casio EX-Z1050, a 10.1 megapixel digital camera which features a new 2.6-inch wide, 14:9 aspect ratio LCD display.

“I found the overall picture quality to be outstanding. The EX-Z1050 uses very low file compression, so it can take full advantage of the extra resolution generated by that big sensor. File sizes average around 5MB, but go as high as 7.5MB for some more detailed subjects. While the gain in fine detail over a seven or eight megapixel camera isn’t hugely significant, it is there if you look.”

Canon IXUS 70DCResource have reviewed the Canon Powershot SD1000 camera (called the Digital IXUS 70 in Europe), which is Canon’s slimmest optical zoom camera.

“Overall, the PowerShot SD1000’s photo quality is very good. The photos taken with the camera have accurate, saturated colors, pleasing sharpness, and minimal purple fringing. It did seem like my photos were overexposed by a 1/3 stop, and if you agree you may want to fool around with the exposure compensation on your own camera. There’s also the corner blurring that I mentioned earlier, though this won’t show up unless you’re making very large prints, or viewing the image at 100% on your computer screen.”

Panasonic DMC-FZ8Megapixel.net have just reviewed the new Panasonic DMC-FZ8 camera.

“Clearly, the DMC-FZ8 seems to be a bit more prone to noise than we would like. It does offer, however, a RAW format that makes it possible to circumvent most of the problem with minimal effort using the software included with the camera. Moreover, an adjustment to the camera’s default settings — as long as the camera is used in the more advanced modes — usually produces good images, and will allow users to take full advantage of a good and powerful lens and and an effective stabilization system.”

Pentax w30Steves Digicams have reviewed the Pentax W30, a waterproof digital camera offering 7.1 megapixels, 3x optical zoom and two new Shake Reduction modes.

“When one sees the Optio W30 (or any of the “W” series models for that matter) one of the first questions asked is “how can it take pictures underwater?” With a quick flip of the battery/memory card door, you can see how this is accomplished. There’s a rubber gasket inside the door that blocks out any precipitation. Just remember, even though this camera is capable of capturing images underwater, the JIS Class 8 waterproof rating has a limitation of 3 meters (about 10 feet) for no more than 2 hours at a time.”

Pentax M30Steves Digicams have reviewed the Pentax M30 camera, which offers 7.1 megapixels, Digital Shake Reduction and Face Recognition AF and AE in an ultra-slim body.

“With the M30, you can choose from ISO 64, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, or even 3200. As you can see from our photos on the samples page, ISO 200 and below show average amounts of noise. However, 400 and above start to show a lot of noise. In fact, 1600 and 3200 are pretty much useless, as these images could not even produce a nice 3x5-inch photo. Your best bet is to leave the ISO set to Auto, as it does well at keeping the sensitivity as low as possible.”

Panasonic DMC-TZ3PCMag have reviewed the Panasonic DMC-TZ3 camera, which fits a 10x optical zoom, 7.2 megapixels and 3 inch LCD screen into a compact, stylish body.

“One thing our previous superzoom PC Mag Editors’ Choice camera lacked was a true wide-angle view. Thankfully, this 7.2 megapixel digicam sports a nice wide viewing angle in addition to its 10X optical zoom and big, bright 3-inch LCD screen (among a host of other user-friendly features). Did we mention the price is pretty reasonable, as well?  Learn why the DMC-TZ3’s pics are so special by reading the whole review.”

Canon IXUS 70TrustedReviews have reviewed the Canon Powershot IXUS 70 camera (called the Powershot SD1000 in the USA), which is Canon’s slimmest optical zoom camera.

“Canon’s noise control system is usually very good, and the IXUS 70 is no exception. There is no visible noise from 80-200 ISO, only a slight amount at 400, and even at 800 and 1600 the noise reduction system greatly reduces visible colour distortion, although there is considerable loss of detail especially at the highest setting.”

Olympus Mju 770 SWePhotoZine have reviewed the Olympus mju 770 SW digital camera, which can survive falls from up to 1.5m, is waterproof to 10m depths, as well as being freezeproof to -10 degrees Celsius.

“When placed in burst mode, the 770-SW was able to take 3 shots very quickly, with less than 1 second between each burst, but then could take no more within the 10 second test as the buffer had become full. The macro mode, which according to the product specifications focuses at 20cm wide-angle actually appears to focus at a much shorter distance when put to the test - more like 10cm.”

“The Coolpix S200 is a high quality entry-level camera. It offers a metallic body and excellent finishing, a good monitor and produces good quality images with reasonably bright lighting conditions. “With its high quality imaging, competent feature set, and under $200 price point, the Canon PowerShot A550 can more easily meet the needs of a very wide audience of photographers. “Though it’s not the flashiest or slimmest model on the market, the Casio EXILIM EX-Z700 has a lot going for it. With a 7.2 megapixel sensor, a fairly standard 3x zoom (38-114mm equivalent focal range), and a 2.7-inch LCD, the Casio EX-Z700 doesn’t break any new ground, but it is a good little camera.”

Casio EX-S770Imaging Resource have just reviewed the slim Casio EX-S770 camera, which offers 7.2 megapixel still images and records high-quality movies in MPEG-4 format.

“No one else makes ultraslim cameras like Casio, and its latest model in the svelte EXILIM line—the 7.2 megapixel EX-S770—raises the style bar once again. As I remarked in a review of the Casio EXILIM EX-S600 last year, EXILIM cameras look a lot like the popular RAZR cell phones from Motorola, and the new Casio EX-S770’s resemblance is even more pronounced. And like the latest RAZRs, the Casio S770 comes in different colors including silver, red, and purple.”

Casio EX-Z75CNET have reviewed the Casio EX-Z75, which features a 7.2 megapixel sensor, Anti-Shake DSP mode and other advanced functions.

“While the EX-Z75 does a decent job dealing with color—we saw adequately accurate color reproduction in our test images—it disappoints in most other areas of image quality. Its automatic white balance did a decent job of neutralizing color when shooting under our lab’s very yellow tungsten hot lights, but we were still left with a very slight yellow cast in our images.”
