KODAK EASYSHARE V610Imaging Resource have just reviewed the Kodak Easyshare V610, the world’s smallest 10x zoom digital camera.

“On the other hand, the Kodak V610 does some things brilliantly. I very much enjoyed its many conveniences: using the 10x zoom over two lenses, wireless printing, sophisticated in-camera panoramas, Kodak’s Perfect Touch technology, macro shooting, sports shooting, docking it to make prints and recharge, and even selecting Scene modes (something I’m not found of generally).”

Fujifilm FinePix F470 ZoomImaging Resource have just reviewed the new 6 megapixel Fujifilm FinePix F470 Zoom digital camera.

“Along with being about as slim as you want a digital camera, the Fuji F470 is extremely light at just five ounces with the battery and memory card. Though the camera’s polycarbonate body has a plastic feel in spots, the generous metal accents give it solid durability. This really is a “take anywhere” camera, and under normal daylight conditions the F470 can capture some great pictures, with the rich color you’d expect from Fujifilm. Though the camera struggled in low-light situations when shooting without a flash, and offers barely any manual control, if you’re using the Fuji F470 just for on-the-go snapshots, it’s a steal at just $279.”

In addition, to also compensate for the other major cause of blurred images – movement of the subject – the FX50 / FX07 cameras are also equipped with the world’s first* Intelligent ISO Control (hereafter I.I.C.) and max. ISO 1250 high sensitivity recording at full resolution capabilities within the advanced image processing LSI Venus Engine III. Panasonic LUMIX DMC-FX3Panasonic Press Release

6-Megapixel Panasonic DMC-FX3 with LEICA DC Lens Featuring MEGA O.I.S. and Max. ISO 1600 High Sensitivity Mode

Panasonic today introduced the new LUMIX DMC-FX3, a 6-megapixel camera with f/2.8 3x optical zoom (equivalent to 35 mm to 105 mm on a 35 mm film camera) LEICA DC lens, featuring MEGA O.I.S.(Optical Image Stabilizer) and max. ISO 1600 high sensitivity mode*.

Fujifilm FinePix Z2 ZoomDIWA member LetsGoDigital have the first online review of the new Fujifilm FinePix Z2 Zoom, a 5 megapixel camera with a large 2.5 inch scratch-resistant glass LCD screen and a non-extending 3x zoom lens.

“The speed with which the Fujifilm Z2 processes the pictures is great to use. If we look at picture quality, the realistic colours and fantastic performance of the white balance stand out. In particular, the different ISO values are great to work with, a quality that Fujifilm has also scored well with in the past. The pictures have a good strong contrast and great colour saturation that can be seen directly in the prints. If we add the excellent video features, we can only conclude that Fujifilm has once more made a compact digital camera without compromising the picture quality. “

Fujifilm FinePix F30 ZoomSteves Digicams have published a review of the Fujifilm FinePix F30, which offers ISO 3200, 6 megapixels, 3x optical zoom lens and a 2.5 inch LCD.

“I was very surprised at how low noise levels were, even at ISO 800. Both ISO 1600 and 3200 are also quite low for a camera in this class, due to the in-camera noise reduction processing. Image detail, however, does suffer a bit, making pictures look a bit “fuzzy” when being viewed at 100%. However, the usefulness of this feature greatly out weighs the negative effects.”

Samsung Digimax L60Steves Digicams have reviewed the Samsung Digimax L60, which has 6 megapixels, 3x optical zoom lens, MPEG4 video recording and a 2.4-inch LCD screen.

“Image quality was average for a 6-megapixel consumer model. While the majority of our samples were sharp with pleasing color saturation and exposure, the canon shot was a bit troubling. When you view the image to fit your screen (about 30% for my 19-inch LCD set at 1024x768), the image looks good. However, at 100% you can see lots of chromatic aberrations (purple fringing around highlights) and the subject itself looks pixelated. “

Sony A100CameraLabs have just reviewed the new 10.2 megapixel Sony A100 DSLR camera.

“There’s no denying Sony’s Alpha DSLR-A100 is an impressive camera for the money. Simply having 10.2 Megapixel resolution and built-in anti-camera-shake is enough to elevate it beyond most budget digital SLRs. Olympus mju 720 SWDIWA member and Norwegian website Digit.no have just reviewed the Olympus mju 720 SW, a 7.1 megapixel, 3x zoom, 2.5 inch LCD, weatherproof digital camera.

“The Olympus Mju 720SW is a unique mini camera, not primarily because of its 7.1 MP image resolution and fully integrated 3x zoom lens, but thanks to its water-proof and shock-resistant casing of steel and aluminium. The camera seems to be the ideal choice for any outdoor activities, both on land and at sea, regardless of event or weather conditions. Also parents may now leave the picture taking to careless kids without fear of expensive consequences. Although the price is slightly higher than for ordinary mini cameras, we raised a question whether the extreme exteriour has come at the cost of its inner qualities. Not at all, in most respects the image quality is higher than usual for this type of camera, although the folded lens design does have its weaknesses. Also, the buttons and controls are too small for comfort and the grip is too slippery. At times, the lack of an optical viewfinder is also missed, as the LCD screen does not provide optimum viewing clearity in bright sunlight. Its weak points are too minor to influence on our general impression that the Olympus Mju 720SW has what it takes to satisfy its targeted audience. We have yet to see a mini-compact digital camera in a more versatile, robust and family-friendly package.”

When you’ve got little or no manual control the reliability and accuracy of the automatic focus, exposure and white balance systems is of paramount importance, and it is here where the SD 700 IS really shows its mettle; out of the 750+ shots we took for the gallery no more than a handful had any problems at all with exposure, focus or color.”

There’s little to choose between them - both offer 7 megapixels, 3x optical zoom lens and a 2.5 inch LCD screen. Canon PowerShot S3 ISDIWA member and Norwegian website Digit.no have reviewed the Canon PowerShot S3 IS, a 6 megapixel camera with an image stabilized 12x zoom lens, ISO 800 and a 2 inch LCD screen.

“The best thing about the update from PowerShot S2 IS to S3 IS is the colour. Everything else is either unneccessary, like the increase of resolution from 5 MP to 6 MP and the higher sensitivity to ISO 800, or insufficient, such as the enlargement of the LCD screen from 1.8” to 2” without solving the real problem, namely the fact that the screen is virtually useless in bright sunlight. However, the camera has a heap of features and nice qualities, it is user friendly, fast, extremely well equipped and should win many buyers with its fast 12x zoom lens with optical stabiliser in a compact body. Image quality is generally good for people with ample requirements to perfection and who will use it the same way as their film based camera, making prints directly from the original file. The lens on our test sample did not meet 6 MP resolution, colour fringing was quite disturbing at both wide angle and telephoto, sharpness at telephoto was disappointing and even though JPEG compression is lowered slightly, it is a shame that the camera lacks RAW format option. Despite an excellent software package, we dislike that the full instruction is now available in electronic form only, that rechargeable batteries and charger must be purchased separately and that the capacity of the supplied memory card is a laughing matter. 16 MB internal memory would be far better. Nevertheless, the PowerShot S3 IS is a very fine camera, indeed, only a pity Canon didn’t take the full step in improving the final details to make it perfect.”
