Imaging Resource have reviewed the Fujifilm FinePix A330 Zoom, a digital camera that offers 3 million effective pixel resolution, 3x optical zoom and a sturdy but stylish body.
“Known for great color and performance, Fuji has also carved out a niche for itself by consistently providing good-quality consumer digicams at rock-bottom prices. The latest in their line of bargain-priced cameras is the Fuji FinePix A330, a 3.2-megapixel digital camera. The Fuji A330 carries on the value-leading tradition of Fuji digital cameras by offering a 3.2-megapixel CCD and 3x optical zoom lens at a low price, and including a longer maximum exposure time of two seconds and four preset scene modes. As you’d expect, the Fuji FinePix A330 trades off a few features and capabilities to achieve its remarkably low cost, but the camera still takes reasonably good-looking pictures in daylight conditions, and is simple enough for even rank beginners to get started with.”

DigitalCameraInfo have posted their first impressions of the new Olympus C-55 Zoom digital camera (also called the C-5500 Sports Zoom in the US) that was announced at the CES show last week.
“The Olympus C-5500 has a full automatic mode, both Shutter and Aperture Priority modes, 11 scene modes, and a manual mode. These provide a versatile range of shooting options for both beginning and intermediate users. Beginners who purchase this camera can expect to keep it for several years. It is easy to navigate and operate, which is a feature that attracts all levels of users. The 2.7 frame-per-second burst mode and 5x optical zoom make this camera a perfect candidate to shoot soccer games or action-packed sporting events. The image stabilization function active on the Movie Mode is a rare feature that only enhances the value of the C-5500. The 5.1-megapixel Olympus C-5500 seems to be an impressive camera and will be enhance the Camedia series when it hits shelves in February 2005.”

Imaging Resource have posted their review of the 7 megapixel Pentax Optio750Z.
“A very small macro area with great detail. Underexposure with the flash, but good detail still visible. The Pentax Optio 750Z performed very well in the macro category, capturing a minimum area of only 1.61 x 1.21 inches (41 x 31 millimeters). Resolution was very high, and a lot of fine detail was present in the dollar bill. Details were soft on the coins and brooch due to the shallow depth of field from the very short subject distance. A moderately high level of image noise interfered with detail definition slightly, but results were still pretty good.”

CNET has just posted a review of the entry-level Olympus D-395 Zoom digital camera.
“The 3.2 megapixel Olympus Camedia D-395 offers a nice set of basic features at a very affordable price. However, its 33mm lens (35mm-camera equivalent) limits its versatility. It doesn’t cost much more to get a camera with a 3X zoom lens, a feature that most people will find is worth paying a little extra for. “

Engadget have posted their initial impressions and a photo from CES of the Olympus m:robe MR-500i photo viewer/MP3 player.
“It’s very pretty, its touch screen interface is hugely appealing, but the MR-500i’s photo-slideshow-set-to-music tilt (they call it “remixing music and photos”) only answers a question that hasn’t been asked (and doesn’t manage to answer the ones that have, like portable video or PDA functionality).”

Steves Digicams has published the first online review of the 5 megapixel Epson L-500V digital camera.
“Overall the image quality when using 2560x1920 Fine mode is good. Our outdoor samples were sharp with good color balance. I did notice that many of our outdoor shots were a bit over exposed, but nothing that a little exposure compensation can’t fix. There was very little noise in high/low contrast areas when using its ISO 100 equivalent as well as slight traces of chromatic aberration (purple fringing) around extreme highlights.”

“As if you couldn’t tell enough before, we’re really stoked on the Kodak Easyshare One Wireless Camera. We already told you everything you need to know about it, except what it’s like to hold. DigitalCameraInfo have published their first impressions of the new waterproof Pentax OptioWP digital camera.
“The design of the OptioWP is subtle; cased in a reflective silver shell, the water-proof imager is not the sexiest camera on the market, but seems to draw an aesthetic parallel to traditional cell phone designs. This digital camera has a sturdy plastic and metal casing that has a two-tone silver color with polished silver highlights. The body is rectangular without any protrusions; the lens remains within the camera body at all times. The lens is in the center of the camera, which is different than most cameras where the lens is placed slightly to the right. For consumers who appreciate symmetry, this may hold appeal as a beautifully elegant design. The flash is on the top right of the front of the OptioWP – in perfect position to be covered by the left fingers of the user. The camera’s interior is designed with rubber gaskets, so water won’t rush into the OptioWP’s mechanized guts.”

ByteSector have just reviewed the new 4 megapixel Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z3.
“One thing is clear; Konica Minolta has fixed a very noticeable bug that was present in the Z2 model. If you read my DiMAGE Z2 review you would be aware of the colour distortion I talked about. Any image that I took with the Z2 would produce a pink hue. Below I have provided an image I took with the Z2 model and a recent image of the same location with the Z3 model. As you can see the Z3 model does not contain the colour distortion and the image appears more natural.”

Digital Camera Info have just published their initial impressions of the Kodak EasyShare-One, which is the first consumer digital camera to include a Wi-Fi chip for remote internet access.
“LCD Screen: This 3-inch beauty folds out from the camera body and rotates to fit back into the camera flush with the rest of the frame. Any time the LCD screen is rotated into position, the camera turns on. With 230,000 pixels, this LCD screen provides high resolution images for viewing and qualifies as a digital photo album. When the Info button is pressed on the side of the screen, information such as the aperture and shutter speed appears on the picture. When handling the demo model, the LCD monitor did get exceptionally warm. However, Kodak representatives said they expect this problem to be fixed by the time the product hits shelves in June.”

DCResource have reviewed the 8 megapixel Konica Minolta DiMAGE A200 digital camera, which incorporates anti-shake technology and a swivelling LCD monitor.
“If you remember the DiMAGE A2 debacle, then you’ll be pleased to hear that the major image softness problems are gone on the A200. Of course, not everyone had those problems on the A2, but I digress. Photos on the A200 were well-exposed and colorful, and noise and purple fringing levels under control. Minolta doesn’t apply too much in-camera sharpening to the images, so personally I’d crank it up a notch in the record menu. With 8 million pixels are your disposal you can make some pretty huge prints from these photos.”

DigiCamReview have reviewed the Kodak Easyshare DX7440, a 4-megapixel digital camera with a 4x (33 - 132 mm equivalent) optical zoom lens.
“The images have good colour with good saturation and contrast. Images appear to have fairly low noise, with good detail, and no signs of corner softness or vignetting. Purple fringing was evident in some of the photos but isn’t a major concern. There is a good range of image sizes and compression options. The macro mode is fairly average. The flash didn’t cause problems when the subject was close. Auto white balance and metering seemed to be good. The movie mode is better than average, at 640x480/13fps and 320x240/24fps with sound - both recorded using MPEG-4 compression. When inside, the camera does a good job of focusing, and the flash is fairly decent.”

DCResource have published their review of the 8 megapixel Nikon Coolpix 8400.
“If you want an ultra wide-angle camera, the Nikon Coolpix 8400 is the only game in town. And thankfully, it plays a pretty good game. While it could be faster in terms of performance, the bottom line is that the 8400 takes good quality pictures with a larger field-of-view than any other fixed-lens digital camera on the market. As expected, a lens that wide will result in some distortion, most notably when you take pictures of buildings or interiors. While its 8 Megapixel images are noisier than what some are used to, they’re competitive with other cameras using this sensor. Be warned that at high ISOs, the noise levels may be unacceptable, especially compared to a digital SLR. Nikon has done a good job keeping purple fringing levels low on the 8400, and redeye was not a problem.”
