DCResource have just reviewed the 3 megapixel Canon PowerShot SD200 Digital ELPH (also known as the IXUS 30).
“Good image quality and user-friendly design has become synonymous with the ELPH name, and is the reason why the line is so popular with a wide range of consumers. Extending the brand name’s excellent reputation in the film world, members of the digital ELPH series have always impressed me with their quality and versatility. The SD200 is the 3-megapixel “little brother” to the 4-megapixel Canon SD300 that we reviewed before it. The slimmer design of these two models relative to that of earlier digital ELPHs is a definite plus, and their range of features gives them an edge over many other subcompact point-and-shoot digicams in the marketplace.”

Pocket-Lint have just posted their review of the new 8 megapixel Nikon Coolpix 8800.
“Overall the 8800 has a lot more plus points than minuses. The huge zoom and additional lenses makes it ideal for the serious photographer who still wants the easy of a more compact frame. The functions are generally easy to use although some diligence and instruction scrutiny will be needed to get all the finer nuisances down on pat. The sub £650 price tag will also go a long way towards to securing it as one of the most attractive camera this Christmas, even if it won’t quite fit in your stocking.”

DigitalCameraInfo have just reviewed the 4 megapixel FujiFilm FinePix S5100 digital compact camera.
“Loyal Fujifilm consumers would probably find this camera to be simple to use. However, I test and review cameras of all brands, and when compared to other digital cameras, the FinePix S5100 rates low for ease of use. Setup is difficult to learn and tedious to execute. I will admit that, once I had read the manual and knew where to put my fingers, the camera was much easier to use, but still not as easy as a point-and-shoot should be. Shooting in automatic mode was by far the easiest and most simplified means available on the camera. Changing manual settings such as the aperture or exposure became frustrating when I had to hold buttons down while scrolling with the four-way controller. Some buttons are smaller than they should be, and some buttons seem illogically placed.”

DCResource have posted their review of the 7 megapixel Pentax Optio750Z.
“While it’s not perfect, I do like the Pentax Optio 750Z quite a bit, and it earns my recommendation. It has a stylish, fairly-compact body with a handy flip-out LCD display. Build quality is very good for the most part, save for the cover over the battery/memory card compartment. Despite its size, the Optio packs a 5X zoom lens—great for telephoto lovers who don’t want to carry around a bulky ultra zoom camera. Photo quality is very good, though a bit noisier than the other 7MP cameras I’ve tested. Images were well-exposed, colorful, and very sharp, all with a minimum of purple fringing. You may encounter some blurry corners or vignetting in flash shots while using the 750Z.”

CNET have just posted their review of the 6 megapixel Fuji FinePix E550.
“What are the most important qualities in a compact digital camera? If your answer is a high pixel count, a large LCD screen, and lightning-fast response, you’re a good candidate for the Fujifilm FinePix E550. With its 6-megapixel sensor; big, 2-inch display; and 4X optical zoom, the E550 comes well equipped for both novices and intermediate users. Photo buffs will enjoy the relatively low-noise ISO 800 images and the generous assortment of manual settings. And just about anyone will be impressed by its fast performance. Best of all, the E550 serves up this unusual mix of features and capabilities for a competitive price.”

CNET have reviewed the Konica Minolta DiMAGE X50, a new compact and stylish 5.0 megapixel camera which features a large 2.0-inch LCD screen, enhanced speed and other design improvements.
“While the resulting movie clips aren’t anything to write home about, the X50 lets you edit the footage in-camera and can turn a single frame into a JPEG still image. You can also crop stills in-camera or resize them for e-mailing. A paste-a-picture-within-a-picture feature is fun, and slide shows can be spiffed up with dissolve effects. There’s even an underwater housing for the X50 that’s good down to 130 feet.”

CNET have just reviewed the Konica Minolta DiMAGE X31, a stylish new 3.2-megapixel compact digicam that is easy-to-use and affordable.
“The camera is very compact, stylish and pocketable due to the internal lens. The screen updates smoothly and is clear. The camera is easy to use, the menu systems being easy to use. The 3x optical zoom is good. Camera handling, button layout and design are okay, the camera could do with some more buttons. The camera speed is good in use and has a quick zoom, shot to shot time is also quick, and the camera has an especially quick switch on time. Unfortunately there is no custom white balance, or manual ISO settings.”

AnandTech have just posted their review of the 6 megapixel Fuji FinePix E550.
“In our review, we found the FinePix E550 to be a great performer. The camera proved itself to be fast and responsive in many of our tests. For example, start up, shot to shot, and shutter lag times were very speedy. The E550 is also capable of producing some well-exposed and detailed images. Furthermore, in RAW mode, we noticed a considerable increase in dynamic range (both in highlight and shadow detail). The camera produces clean low noise images (even in long exposures) consistently. Considering the low price tag on the E550, we were very impressed with its overall performance.”

Fotodiip have just reviewed the 5 megapixel Pentax Optio S5i.
“In my humble opinion advantage of 5 MP-s over 4 is not sufficient enough to tolerate slow write times. I don’t need 4 frames per second shooting speeds but I do want decent frame to frame speed. When I have to lower resolution and/or quality setting then is there really a point in putting more into the camera in the first place? Maybe I’m barking up the wrong tree and I should get a different camera because it’s not possible to get this size/speed combination at this point of time at all…”

Steves Digicams have posted their review of the new 8 megapixel Nikon Coolpix 8800.
“The substantial handgrip and well-placed controls make the 8800 comfortable to use, and the vari-angle LCD viewfinder makes it easy to get shots that would be impossible to compose using an optical or fixed EVF type viewfinder. The EVF (Electronic ViewFinder) has a dioptric adjustment and a deep eyecup offset far enough from the camera body for comfortable viewing. Both viewfinders are effective in conditions ranging from bright Florida sun to dimly lit interiors, where the live image will “gain-up” so you can properly compose the shot.”

Steves Digicams have published their review of the 4 megapixel Sony Cyber-shot DSC-L1.
“I was pleased with the ergonomics of this camera. Even though it is about the size of a Snickers candy bar, its controls are well placed and functional, which makes one handed shooting a snap. The menu system is logically organized and when using Program mode it allows you to quickly change settings. There is one feature however that I feel could be improved; the size of its LCD. This is the only viewfinder and at 1.5-inches it’s quite small when you compare it to other cameras in this class.”

Steves Digicams have just reviewed the 5 megapixel, twistable Pentax Optio X.
“The most noticeable feature on this camera is its swiveling body. You can rotate the LCD 270. We found this to be a handy feature, especially when you are trying to capture a picture in a crowd; simply rotate the LCD and hold it over your head. This 2.0-inch monitor is the only viewfinder and we found it works good outdoors, although because it has a reflective coating there are still some angles that reflect the sun and make it difficult to use; this is when it would be nice to have an optical viewfinder. However, the LCD does “gain up” when shooting in low-ambient lighting, which is a plus.”

Pocket-Lint have published their review of the Ricoh Caplio R1 digital camera.
“The camera’s wide-angle zoom lens is extremely versatile, allowing you to cram in plenty of the scene you wish to shoot. On close inspection though, particularly of wider images, the periphery of the lens is not sharp, loosing critical bite at the edges. The lens also exhibits alarming barrel distortion, although to be fair, most wide lenses exhibit this problem to some degree.”

DigiCamReview have just reviewed the Kodak Easyshare CX7330.
“When outside image quality is good sometimes very good - the images have rich saturated colour, and good detail although images could do with a slight sharpen, and edges can look a bit like pastel colours. Images have fairly low noise. There is little purple fringing. Image compression doesn’t seem to cause jpeg artifacts, although there is a fairly poor range of image sizes and no compression options. The macro mode is average. The flash didn’t cause problems when the subject was close. Auto white balance and metering seemed to be good. The movie mode is about average, at 15fps with sound. When inside, the camera does an fairly good job of focusing, the flash is fairly decent, colours are very good, although edges can be a bit pastel looking.”
