Pocket-Lint have posted their review of the 5 megapixel, 10x optical zoom Kodak EASYSHARE DX7590 digital camera.
“However, the two compression – or quality – settings of Standard and Fine don’t give enough control. I’d go as far as to say the extra million pixels over its forbear make no difference in terms of detail captured and here’s why.
Even the top quality ‘Fine’ setting compresses images to heavily meaning details in shots such as landscapes become smoothed away. While this is not an issue (or even noticeable) on ‘standard’ 6x4-inch prints, on larger prints over A4 for example, the lack of detail becomes evident and a sort of blocky smudging.”

DCResource have published what can only be described as an enthusiastic review of the 8 megapixel Canon EOS 20D DSLR.
“I’ll be blunt: the Canon EOS-20D is the best reasonably priced digital SLR that I’ve tested. And by reasonably priced I meant under $2000. There’s so much to like about the 20D, I don’t know where to start. Photo quality is excellent, with photos having an ultra smooth look to them. Color and exposure were both accurate. Personally I’d crank the sharpness up another notch, but that’s just me. Noise levels are very low, even at ISO 1600—try that with your fixed-lens camera!”

DigiCamReview.co.uk have just reviewed the 3 megapixel, entry-level Pentax Optio S30 digital camera.
“Apart from slightly soft images - which can be corrected by changing the in camera sharpness setting - the Pentax Optio S30 produces excellent photos. The images have rich saturated colour, and good detail. Images have fairly low noise. There is little purple fringing. Image compression doesn’t seem to cause jpeg artifacts, and there is a very good range of image sizes and compression options. The macro mode is average, but the super macro mode is excellent. The flash didn’t cause problems when the subject was close - and performed brilliantly in super macro mode. Auto white balance and metering seemed to be good. The movie mode is better than average, recording unlimited videos at 30fps with sound. When inside, the camera does a fairly good job of focusing, the flash is fairly decent, colours are very good, although images are slightly soft.”

CNET have reviewed the Fujifilm FinePix A330 Zoom, a digital camera that offers 3 million effective pixel resolution, 3x optical zoom and a sturdy but stylish body.
“We were pleasantly surprised by this camera’s image quality. Our test shots, even of a moving freight train, were generally well exposed and sufficiently sharp. The FinePix A330 has a tendency to slightly underexpose, but we see that as a plus since it rarely clipped highlights. We can more easily live with less detail in the shadows. Image noise was minimal, and the FinePix A330 did a nice job with macro shots. All in all, we think most snapshot photographers will be pleased.”

PC Magazine have published their review of the new 5 megapixel Nikon Coolpix 5200 compact digital camera.
“There’s a lot to like about the Nikon Coolpix 5200: It’s small, handy, and stylish, and it’s jammed with great features. It takes reasonably sharp pictures. It could be speedier, though, and exposure and color-accuracy issues prevent it from receiving top honors.”

Steves Digicams have published their review of the 8 megapixel Nikon Coolpix 8400.
“I expected the 8400 to shine indoors, and it did if there was enough available light to help its autofocus system. If you frequently find yourself with your back pressed against a wall or into a corner to compose indoor shots of rooms or people, you’ll appreciate the field of view offered by the 8400’s wide zoom. Its powerful (by consumer digicam standards) flash covers the wide field of view fairly well, with only a slight drop off in illumination at the corners of the image. For consistent corner-to-corner flash illumination at full wide angle, you’ll need to use an SB-600 or SB-800 speedlight.”

DigicamReview.co.uk have just published the first web review of the entry-level HP Photosmart M307 digital camera.
“The design is okay, the size is okay, the camera is quite compact and pocketable, the camera is fairly stylish depending on your tastes. The decent size 1.8” screen updates smoothly and has fairly accurate colour. The camera is very easy to use, the menu system is easy to use and the help system is very good. There is a fairly good amount of options and features available (such as the scene modes, and quick video button). The 3x optical zoom lens seems to be good but noisy. Camera handling, and button layout are quite good. The camera speed is good in use and has a quick zoom, and shot to shot time is okay.”

CNET have published their review of the new 7 megapixel Canon PowerShot S70.
“Though it fails to garner the same across-the-board high marks as its predecessors, the Canon PowerShot S70 nevertheless acquits itself very well as an enthusiast’s compact. A 7-megapixel camera with a 3.6X zoom lens, the S70’s first-rate photos and flexible feature set appeal now as much as they ever did. Only poor battery life and average performance hold it back from attaining better grades. “

DPReview have published a review of the new 5 megapixel Panasonic DMC-FX7.
“It is a tribute to Panasonic’s designers that they managed to squeeze as much as they did into the FX7’s diminutive body, and there’s no denying it is the kind of camera that simply begs to be taken everywhere you go. The screen is fantastic (though the resolution isn’t high enough to really take advantage of the extra size), it’s fast, fun to use and capable of surprisingly good results. The Leica lens is certainly no slouch in the resolution stakes, exposure is - though by no means perfect - as good as any other camera in this class, and the auto white balance very good indeed.”

Photo.net have published a very short review by Josh Root - 120 minutes to be exact - of the Epson RD-1 digital rangefinder camera.
“With the RD-1, you can set the camera to “Raw” quality, and then turn on the “black & white” mode. The photos on the review screen will show up as black and white images, but when you run the files through the raw converter, you have to option of going back to color again. Because, since you are shooting in the Raw mode, no information is actually thrown away. If you decide that you don’t like the way that the RD-1’s B&W conversion turned out, you can start over and just do it as you normally would in Photoshop.”
