Panasonic DMC-FZ3Imaging Resource have reviewed the new 3 megapixel, 12x optical zoom Panasonic DMC-FZ3 digital camera.

“On the whole, I was favorably impressed with the Panasonic DMC-FZ3, although personally think that the somewhat more capable 4-megapixel FZ15 is a better value, despite its $100 higher list price. The FZ3’s all-plastic case keeps the camera light, but also leaves it with a slightly cheap feel in the hand. As with the FZ15, the FZ3’s biggest limitation is a very slow shutter response, although its shutter lag when “prefocused” by pressing and holding down the shutter button prior to the shot itself is amazingly fast, and the camera is also quite fast from shot to shot in its continuous-shooting modes.”

Nikon Coolpix 3200DigitalCameraInfo have just reviewed the 3-megapixel Nikon Coolpix 3200 compact digital camera.

“There are a few concerns about handling. When extended and engaged, the zoom lens tended to be a perfect place for the fingers of my left hand to rest, potentially obscuring the final image. This is less of a concern when the user is looking at the 1.6-inch LCD screen, as the user can actually see the guilty fingers. However, when using the real-image optical zoom viewfinder, the user is unable to discern whether or not the lens is being masked. Also, the microphone for the camera is located directly behind the shutter button for the camera, potentially recording noise from my fingers rather than the action. This is particularly a drawback in movie mode.”

Olympus C-70 ZOOMSteves Digicams has posted the Internet’s first review of the 7 megapixel Olympus C-70 Zoom (called the Olympus C-7000 Zoom in the USA).

“We were pleased with the overall image quality in SHQ mode. Our outdoor samples were sharp, well-exposed, and colors are nicely saturated. As we have seen on past cameras from Olympus, its Auto white balance setting was very accurate, with it being on the money most every time. There was very little noise in high/low contrast areas as well as virtually no traces of chromatic aberration (purple fringing around extreme highlights.)”

Olympus Mju - mini DIGITALSteves Digicams have just posted their review of the diminutive and stylish 4 megapixel Olympus Mju Mini digicam (called the Stylus Verve in the USA).

“We had mixed feeling about the ergonomics of this little camera. The controls are well placed, and its menu system was easy to navigate. However, you will have to learn how to hold it as its shape in rather unique. The problem is, when holding the camera with two hands your left index finger lands right on the flash. We found the “pinch” method (left thumb and index finger) worked well.”

Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z10Pocket-Linte have just reviewed the 3.2 megapixel Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z10 digital camera, which features fastest-in-class startup, 8x optical “Mega-Zoom,” fast and reliable autofocusing, and energy efficient design.

“Technology has always been Minolta?s forte, and the merger has not dappened this ability. So, for example the Konica Minolta Z10 has inherited the AF of the older company, with predictive AF, which tracks the speed and movement of the subject so can predict where the AF should focus at the press of the shutter button. The camera?s fast, with a half-second start up, focusing within three tenths of a second and fast shutter release time lag.”

Panasonic DMC-FX7DCResource have published a review of the new 5 megapixel Panasonic DMC-FX7.

“The FX7 proves that little cameras can have image stabilizers too. If you’re tired of blurry photos (especially indoors), the FX7 can help. Sensors in the FX7 detect camera movement, and an element in the lens is shifted to compensate. This lets you use shutter speeds 3-4 stops slower than what you can use on an unstabilized camera. For example, a 1/30 sec shutter speed will result in a blurry photos for most people (unless you have hands of stone), but with image stabilization you’ll most likely get a nice, sharp photo.”

Canon PowerShot A400DigiCamReview.co.uk have reviewed Canon’s new entry-level digital camera, the PowerShot A400.

“Image quality is good - the images have accurate and pleasing colour, and good detail although images could do with a sharpen, unfortunately there is no option to increase sharpness in camera. Images have fairly low noise and there is very little purple fringing. Image compression doesn’t seem to cause jpeg artifacts, and there is a good range of image sizes and compression options. The macro mode is very good. The flash didn’t cause problems when the subject was too close. Auto white balance and metering seemed to be fairly good. The movie mode is good although limited in length and frame-rate.”

FujiFilm FinePix E500 ZoomImaging Resource have just reviewed the FujiFilm FinePix E500 Zoom, which is equipped with a 4.0 megapixel sensor and a 3.2X wide angle optical zoom lens.

“Generally good noise levels, and a good job of balancing image noise against subtle shadow detail. Image noise was generally low on the E500, increasing to only moderate levels at ISO 200. At ISO 400, while the noise level was high, the grain pattern was fine and tight. To its credit, the E500 doesn’t trade away too much detail in its effort to suppress image noise, something other digicam makers would do well to emulate.”

Panasonic DMC-FZ15Imaging Resource have published the first review on the web of the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ15 digicam.

“Generally good noise levels, relatively little loss of subject detail. The FZ15’s image noise levels are about average among cameras of its class, but the best news is that it seems to give up relatively little subtle subject detail in the process of suppressing its sensor noise. Particularly at low ISO, there’s still good detail to be found in hair, foliage, etc. A menu option lets you tweak the anti-noise processing, but its effect is fairly subtle.”

Kyocera Finecam M410RThe last review of the morning from Popular Photography is of the Kyocera Finecam M410R, a 4.0 megapixel digital camera with a high-powered 10x optical zoom and high-speed lens.

“Fast shooting? Yes! Set to single frame, it will fire as fast as you can lift lightly off the shutter button and fire again - if you turn off the instant review. In continuous run, you can fire at 3.3 fps, with focus and exposure set on the first shot, to the capacity of the card (exactly our test result with a high-speed SD card). Even more impressive: you can set the M410R to refocus and meter every shot at 2 fps, again confirmed in our tests.”

Sony DSC-W1Popular Photography have published their review of the new 5 megapixel Sony DSC-W1 digital compact camera.

“Apparently, the larger body of the W1 provides room for features missing from the T1: an optical viewfinder, more powerful flash, a slot for a standard-sized Memory Stick, and space for two rechargeable NiMH AAs (included). Its black-and-chrome body is well-balanced, easy to hold, yet small enough to fit into a pocket. Like the T1, menu fonts and icons are now easy to read, thanks to the large 2.5-inch TFT LCD screen.”

Casio EXILIM PRO EX-P600Popular Photography have posted their review of the 6 megapixel Casio EXILIM PRO EX-P600 digital camera.

“There’s plenty of grippable area for the right hand and very little for the left - you’re likely to inadvertently press some of the buttons on that side. The LCD screen is typical Casio: bright, contrasty, fine-grained, with readable menus. And the optical viewfinder is genuinely usable, with moderate magnification, plus enough eye relief that even eyeglass wearers can see the entire full-frame area. Not SLR viewing, but better than many compact camera squintfinders.”
