Canon PowerShot A85DigitalCameraInfo have posted their review of the 4 megapixel Canon PowerShot A85.

“The Canon PowerShot A85 is perfect for newcomers to the photography world. At $299, the A85 is priced well for a 4-megapixel digital camera. It provides automatic and semi-automatic functions that are solid enough to give a shooter confidence while allowing the flexibility to learn and grow. The A85 is great for starters who are intimidated by other digital cameras, but wish they could operate the bigger, better, faster camera models. Eventually, users of the Canon PowerShot A85 will want to graduate to a camera with more megapixels, but they can still rely on this digital camera as a solid start.”

Panasonic DMC-FZ15Steves Digicams have published the first review on the web of the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ15 digicam.

“The most dominant feature of the FZ15 is its 12x Leica Vario-Elmarit optical zoom lens, with a focal length coverage of 36-432mm in 35mm equivalence. It uses Panasonic’s Mega Optical Image Stabilization technology, which reduces the effect of camera shake in your long telephoto shots, and makes the camera capable of taking handheld shots in lower light levels and at slower shutter speeds without using the flash. In field use, O.I.S. proved to be very effective, producing a high percentage of blur-free shots in conditions that would otherwise have required the use of a tripod.”

Fuji FinePix F440 ZoomCrutchfield Advisor have just reviewed the compact 4.1 Megapixel Fuji FinePix F440 Zoom (which is the bigger brother of the F420 that I reviewed last month).

“How did my photos turn out? In a word, stunning. Now, some credit must be given to the Republic of Ireland, which is a truly beautiful place where it’s easy to snap gorgeous photos. I certainly can’t claim much credit for myself, as I am not a particularly expert or artistic photographer. However, I’ve used cameras in the past which would have rendered even Ireland’s brilliant green hills dull and forgettable. The F440, instead, did a very nice job. Color reproduction was, thankfully, excellent, and the little details were pleasingly crisp. Below, you’ll find some of my favorite photos; they speak volumes for the F440’s surprising photographic prowess.”

FujiFilm FinePix S5100DCResource have just reviewed the 4 megapixel FujiFilm FinePix S5100 digital compact camera.

“Overall the image quality on the S5100 was good and quite an improvement over the S5000. Images are still a little noisier than I’d like to see, but the noise will disappear if you downsize or print the images at a reasonable size. Color and exposure were both good, and images were fairly sharp. Fuji has done a good job minimizing purple fringing on this ultra zoom camera.”

Kodak EASYSHARE DX7590CNET have posted their review of the 5 megapixel, 10x optical zoom Kodak EASYSHARE DX7590 digital camera.

“Photo quality is acceptable if you don’t plan on making enlargements. Colors were bright and saturated and exposures generally good, although we noticed a bluish cast in many daylight photos and a bit of a warm tone in photos shot under incandescent light, even when using a white-balance preset; there is no custom white-balance capability. The dynamic range is squeezed toward the middle—photos lack detail in dark areas and tend to wash out highlights. But the worst defect was pronounced purple fringing, most noticeably around backlit objects.”

Canon PowerShot S70DPReview have published their review of the new 7 megapixel Canon PowerShot S70.

“What the S70 Canon has brought to the party is a superb 28-100mm equiv. lens (and if, like me, you love a true wide-angle this is a real selling point), excellent exposure, sophisticated (if slow) focus and understated, subtle - but effective - image processing. The result is a camera with a comprehensive range of controls, superb photographic quality and excellent handling.”

Sony DSC-P41DigitalCameraInfo.com have just reviewed the 4 megapixel Sony DSC-P41.

“The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P41 is one of the more economically priced Cyber-shot models, retailing for around US $179.95. Containing a surprisingly large 1/2.7 inch, 4MP CCD, this model is armed to surpass most similarly priced models with higher image quality. However, this camera is only capable of 3x digital zoom, with absolutely no optical zoom capability. With limited custom control settings available, the Cyber-shot P41 is clearly made for the point-and-shoot consumer.”

Rolleiflex MiniDigiRollei Logistics, Inc. Press Release 26/10/04

Just 3-Inches High, the New Rolleiflex MiniDigi Has the Look and Feel of the Original Twin Reflex Camera

CONCORD, CA (OCT. 26, 2004) - Two lenses, one above the other. The hand crank lever. The shutter release. The hooded viewfinder. The exposure meter. The coal-black casing. And the RolleiFlex logo.

They?re all part of a new Rollei camera that will hit the US market in November. What?s different from the original, a classic that has attracted the world?s top photographers from its introduction in 1929 to this day, is that it?s much smaller and digital.

Much as auto manufacturers who have applied modern technologies to classic designs, such as the Jaguar ?S?series, the new RolleiFlex MiniDigi has the look and feel of the original, but easily fits in the palm of your hand or pocket. Most importantly, it?s a camera with features that are not only nostalgic, but also unique in the digital world.

Konica Minolta DiMAGE X31PCMagazine have just reviewed the Konica Minolta DiMAGE X31, a stylish new 3.2-megapixel compact digicam that is easy-to-use and affordable.

“Our test shots were decent but not impressive. Daylight photos tended to be a bit dark and a little soft around the edges, with some graininess in the shadows. The images did show good whites and highlights and well-reproduced colors (if a little warm). Our flash shots, though well illuminated, were slightly red and suffered from noise and fuzziness. Close-up shots, as near as 4 inches from the subject, were particularly good.”

Pentax Optio S5iSteves Digicams have reviewed the 5 megapixel Pentax Optio S5i.

“Ergonomics were average. It seems Pentax has not heard our cries about the Power button on past “S” series models. With the camera being so small, I found myself turning it Off when trying to snap a picture. This was very aggravating. Another issue was the left and right “Custom Function” buttons. Though they can be very useful, there needs to be an off setting when you are not planing on using them. I found myself accidently changing exposure compensation countless times.”

Kodak EASYSHARE DX7590Imaging Resource have posted their review of the 5 megapixel, 10x optical zoom Kodak EASYSHARE DX7590 digital camera.

“Low image noise, but a lot of subject detail traded away to manage it. In common with a lot of consumer digicams these days, the DX7590 shows very low noise levels, but it’s obvious from its photos that it is trading away a lot of subtle (and some not-so-subtle) subject detail to achieve this. This effect isn’t too noticeable in shots at ISO 80 and 100, but by the time you get to ISO 200, areas of the subjects characterized by subtle contrast are very visibly smudged-looking. (Marti’s hair in the Outdoor and Indoor Portrait shots is a good example of this.) The camera works well enough under good lighting at low ISOs, but I really don’t consider it usable at ISO 400, and even ISO 200 is marginal.”

Polaroid x530Just in time for Christmas, the Polaroid x530 digital camera that was first announced back in February has now turned up for sale on the UK shopping store Argos, of all places. I’m not really sure that Argos is the best place to sell a cutting-edge digital camera (at least in terms of the Foveon X3 sensor that’s inside it), but hey, at least it’s on sale somewhere (found via DigiCamReview.co.uk).
