Trusted Reviews have just reviewed the 5 megapixel BenQ DC C50 digital camera.
“This is a camera that can only really justify its five megapixels of resolution when used in conditions of bright sunlight where the apparent noise was kept to a minimum. That said, when zoomed to 100% pixel noise is still discernable. More positively, shooting on a bright day revealed that the colour balance was commendably accurate and chromatic aberrations across the scope of the zoom were minimal. The digital zoom also appeared to work well but you?ll probably get better results by enlarging pictures within a photo-editing software package. The macro setting proved to be its only other plus point as I was able to get in close and maintain focus and a decent exposure even with the flash - albeit with a sprinkling of undesirable noise in the final result.”

Shutterbug magazine have posted their review of the Fujifilm Finepix S20 Pro digital camera, which sits at the top of the FinePix range.
“First, let?s look at some of this camera?s strong points. The lens is fabulous. I typically use a 28-105mm f/2.8 lens on my digital SLRs and it?s heavy; this thing is a featherweight. You do have to use the buttons on the camera back for zooming operation so it?s a little slower than turning a lens manually, but it?s no big deal. My files all looked sharp with great contrast and the focus seemed more accurate and quicker than my FinePix S2 Pro.”

DigiCamReview.co.uk have posted their review of the 3 megapixel, 3x optical zoom Pentax Optio 33LF digital camera.
“The camera is compact, and fairly stylish, its main selling point is the 1.6” rotating-swivelling screen that lets you take pictures of yourself, friends, family etc. The screen updates smoothly as well, but is a bit low-res / grainy. The camera is very easy to use, the menu systems easy to use and well laid out. The 3x optical zoom is a useful feature to have. Camera handling and design are good. The camera speed is good in use and has a quick but noisy zoom, shot to shot time could be quicker. The built-in scene modes, digital filters and panorama mode help make this camera easier to use as well.”

PCMagazine have published their review of the new 5 megapixel Sony DSC-W1 digital compact camera.
“In general, however, the pictures were quite good. In addition to crispness, the colors-a bit on the warm side-really popped, though we noticed some minor posterization in some highlights. In our flash-invoked shots, illumination was very strong and well balanced, and the image was sharp with excellent color reproduction.”

CNET have reviewed the 5 megapixel Pentax Optio S5i.
“Although definitely targeting snapshooters who are looking for an ultracompact and stylish camera, the Optio S5i also offers enough features to please those who will want to tweak their photos as their skills grow. Pentax couples an array of fun features with the image quality you’d expect from a 5-megapixel shooter.”

DPReview have just posted their review of the 6 megapixel Fuji FinePix E550.
“The FinePix E550 Zoom is an incredibly capable camera that punches above its weight both in terms of features and image quality. The handling and speed of operation are superb, and the range of controls comprehensive. The 32.5-130mm lens offers more versatility than the more common 38-115mm equiv. found on many similar cameras, and is very sharp across the frame. Resolution is excellent, noise very well controlled and the colors really jump out at you. The ISO 800 mode is not only usable, but very useful too - the low noise means you can often get away without using flash in social situations.”

DCResource have just reviewed the 4 megapixel Canon PowerShot SD300 Digital ELPH (also known as the IXUS 40).
“Although I think image quality has gone downhill a bit since its predecessor, that doesn’t stop me from putting the Canon PowerShot SD300 Digital ELPH high on my list of favorite ultra-compact cameras. It’s got a stylish, ultra-thin metal body, a 3X zoom lens, a big 2-inch LCD, first-rate movie mode, and robust performance. The SD300 is about 1/3 inch thinner than the S410 and it’s small enough to go everywhere with you. The lens is still 3X, though its new design lends itself to increased purple fringing and blurry edges, the main image quality issues that I found.”

Imaging Resource have just cast their beady eye over the new 4 megapixel Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z3.
“High barrel distortion at wide angle, but low pincushion at telephoto. Good sharpness in the corners, variable chromatic aberration. Optical distortion on the Z3 was slightly higher than average at the wide-angle end, where I measured approximately 0.9 percent barrel distortion. The telephoto end fared much better, as I found only 0.05 percent pincushion distortion there. (While high at the wide angle end of its range, this is much less distortion overall than it’s common to find in long-zoom digicam lenses.) Chromatic aberration was low at wide angle to “normal” focal lengths, but increased to a rather high level by the time I got to maximum telephoto.”

CNET have reviewed the 5 megapixel Canon PowerShot SD20 Digital ELPH.
“Images were crisp, with good saturation and accurate exposures, although there was a tendency to overload highlights, and we noticed some purple fringing around backlit areas. Flesh tones tended to be a little yellow. Noise wasn’t a problem until we used higher ISO settings (ISO 200 and 400), and the SD20 has automatic noise reduction for exposures of 1.3 seconds or longer.”

DigitalCameraInfo.com have just reviewed what is sure to be a popular digital camera, the 5 megapixel Canon PowerShot A95:
“Overall, the Canon PowerShot A95 is in the top 30 percent of compact digital cameras in terms of color reproduction. This model tends to over-saturate reds and pinks, but this is common among point-and-shoot digital cameras as these colors are used to render skin tones. To avoid the unflattering depiction of white flesh, many digital cameras will correct for this to create a more favorable rendition of skin. So even though the Canon PowerShot A95 does not receive a perfect color score, some point-and-shooters may prefer the camera?s embellished look, maintaining a naturalistic base for its tones while asserting somewhat of a refined filter on top.”

DCResource have reviewed the 5 megapixel Canon PowerShot SD20 Digital ELPH.
“The Canon PowerShot SD20 Digital ELPH is what I call a “secondary camera”. It’s the go-anywhere camera that’s always on hand to capture the moment. For more serious endeavors, that’s where you bring out your primary camera—the PowerShot G6, Coolpix 8700, whatever. With that in mind, the SD20 is a very nice ultra-compact camera that can fit in your pocket, ready for action at any time. It takes very good 5 Megapixel photos without major delays like shutter lag. The camera is mostly point-and-shoot, though I appreciate the manual white balance and long shutter speed controls. The camera has an AF-assist lamp for focusing in low light, though I found it hard to see anything on the LCD in those conditions.”

DigiCamReview.co.uk have today reviewed the new HP Photosmart R707, a stylish 5 megapixel digital camera.
“Image quality is good - the images have really good pleasing colour, good detail although images could do with a sharpen and suffer from corner softness. Images have fairly low noise depending on how much adaptive lighting changes the image, and there is very little purple fringing. Image compression doesn’t seem to cause jpeg artifacts, and there is an additional high quality (4 star) mode for even higher quality images. The macro mode is fairly poor, although for the odd macro photo will probably be fine.”

Imaging Resource have just reviewed what is sure to be a popular digital camera, the 5 megapixel Canon PowerShot A95:
“The PowerShot A95 is one of the few digital cameras that just seem to get everything right, with very few weaknesses. In virtually all respects (color, resolution, image noise), its images are good to excellent, and its range of features and capabilities is hard to beat for the price.”

Not much has been heard about the Polaroid x530 digital camera that was announced back in February, which was interesting because it uses a variant of the Foveon X3 sensor that is also used in the Sigma DSLR range. Well, a Japanese first look/review of the Polaroid x530 has turned up, although I obviously can’t give you any more details than pointing you to the website (found via DigiCamReview.co.uk).
