Casio EXILIM PRO EX-P600Steves Digicams have today reviewed the 6 megapixel Casio EXILIM PRO EX-P600 digital camera.

“The image quality of the EX-P600 is very good, it captures sharp and well saturated pictures. Flesh tones were very accurate and well exposed. The 4x Canon zoom lens covers a 35mm equivalent of 33-132mm and has a 4x digital zoom feature. There is moderate barrel distortion at full wide angle but almost no pin cushioning at full telephoto. The zoom lens is quick and smooth as it goes from wide angle to telephoto. The indoor shots were also well saturated but not as sharp, maybe due to a lack of a focus assist lamp for low-light shooting.”

Konica Minolta DiMAGE A2Michael Reichmann over at Luminous Landscape has attempted to pick a winner from the crop of 8 megapixel digital cameras that he has been reviewing in the last couple of months.

“Of course the question that everyone wants to know, and which I receive countless e-mails asking, is - which one is the best? Since I know of no on-line or magazine reviewer that will provide you with a straightforward answer to this (and they’re probably wise not to), I’ll do my best to answer the question. You may not like the answers though.”

Olympus Introduces The CAMEDIA AZ-1 Compact Digital Camera Featuring The World’s First Mobile Advanced Super View Display for Enhanced Viewing Enjoyment

- World’s first Mobile Advanced Super View Display
- New album functions and 23 Scene Program modes
- Easy operation with new control dial

Olympus Corporation (President: Tsuyoshi Kikukawa) is pleased to announce the introduction of the 3.2-megapixel CAMEDIA AZ-1 compact digital camera with 3x optical zoom. In addition to full range of camera features, the CAMEDIA AZ-1 is equipped with a sharp, clear, Mobile Advanced Super View Display that makes it equally suitable for use as a photo viewer.

With its Mobile Advanced Super View Display and new album functions, the CAMEDIA AZ-1 is an entirely new type of camera that offers “shooting,” “viewing,” and “sharing.” The Mobile Advanced Super View Display offers high contrast and a wide viewing angle, and its incorporation into the CAMEDIA AZ-1 marks the first time that this display technology has been utilized in a digital camera or other such mobile device. The 2.5-inch display has a resolution of 210,000 pixels, and its large size and excellent image quality make it ideal for both reviewing and appreciating photos. In addition, New Album and slideshow functions allow users to organize images in the camera, and there is a Camera Album function that allows images edited on a computer to be uploaded and viewed on the camera. By taking advantage of the large, high-definition Mobile Advanced Super View Display, users can easily use the CAMEDIA AZ-1 as a portable photo album that allows them to share their favorite photos with other people wherever they go.

The CAMEDIA AZ-1 is also equipped with 23 Scene Program modes that allow users to obtain optimum image quality in a wide range of shooting situations. Ease of operation is also enhanced by a new control dial that allows various functions to be selected using only the thumb and forefinger of the right hand.

Kodak Easyshare DX7630Steves Digicams have today reviewed the new 6 megapixel Kodak Easyshare DX7630.

“The DX7630 features a Schneider Kreuznach Variogon 3X optical zoom lens with a focal length ranging from 39 - 117mm in 35mm equivalence. The lens produces sharp images throughout its zoom range, but with a bit of barrel distortion and pin cushioning present at the wide-angle and telephoto extremes. The lens is quite fast; with a wide-open variable aperture range of F2.8 (wide) to F4.8 (tele), it will allow for a higher than expected shutter speed and enable you to hand-hold the camera in lighting conditions that might otherwise require a tripod or some other form of camera support.”

Konica KD-420ZYesterday DP-Now published a comprehensive review of the Konica KD-420Z digital camera, which is actually exactly the same model as the Minolta G400.

“In most areas, the 420Z is an easy camera to get up and running with. Being quite a small and slim design doesn’t detract from general ease of use as most of the controls are logically placed. The camera is also responsive, with few situations arising where you have to wait for the camera. If there is a weakness, it’s that some settings are hidden away inside the menu system and there is no video-out port for connection to a TV.”

Konica Minolta DiMAGE A2The technology website ByteSector have just reviewed the new 8-megapixel Konica Minolta DiMAGE A2 digital camera.

“It is a fantastic camera for a professional because it gives absolute manual control. It has a very high capture resolution and colour depth, there are no distortions or colour issues that have appeared in previous models. If I had the money, I would personally buy it for its advanced applications and the 8 mega pixel resolution. I love the manual focus and zoom rings.”

FujiFilm FinePix F610LetsGoDigital has published its review of the FujiFilm FinePix F610, a 6-megapixel digital camera that was first announced back in November 2003.

“The camera lies comfortably in the hand, although I can imagine that some consumers will have to get used to photographing vertically. The complaints of the slow reactions of a digital camera don’t apply for the FinePix F610; Fujifilm has sorted out that problem. The camera starts up swift as an arrow, even more so considering the optical zoom lens has to be positioned. Also the automatic focus, the fast interval of release and the possibility to shoot 5 images in a very fast speed make this FinePix F610 a rapid guy.”

Olympus C-8080 Wide ZoomDCResource have just reviewed the new 8-megapixel Olympus C-8080 Wide Zoom digital camera.

“The Olympus C-8080 Wide Zoom is an 8 Megapixel camera that holds its own against the competition, despite having a lens that doesn’t have as much telephoto power as the competition. Image quality is very good, though expect the above average noise and purple fringing that have become hallmarks of 8MP cameras.”

Olympus CAMEDIA C-60 ZOOMAs usual Steve’s Digicams is first off the blocks with a review of a new digital camera. This tme Steve has assessed the 6 megapixel Olympus CAMEDIA C-60 ZOOM.

“The overall image quality in SHQ 2816x2112 is good. It has good color balance and saturation. The white balance in AUTO works well and there are five white balance presets but no manual set option. You can see a visible “roughness” in open blue sky areas. This is visible in both JPG and TIFF images, so it isn’t compression artifacting but rather some sort of imager noise. It isn’t much of a problem as the six-megapixel images create photo-quality prints from 4x6” right up to 13x19” size.”

Nikon Coolpix 8700ePhotoZine have published their review of the new 8-megapixel Nikon Coolpix 8700 digital camera.

“A typical consumer might think that an eight megapixel camera is going to easily out perform a five megapixel camera. Manufacturers are capitalising on this fact to keep consumers buying their cameras and tempting them to ‘upgrade’. Whilst it’s true that in some areas an eight megapixel camera will out perform a five megapixel camera the increased resolution also introduces some problems, namely increased levels of image noise at higher ISO’s. Another noticeable problem on the Coolpix 8700 is above average amounts of purple fringing.”

Konica Minolta DiMAGE A2Dphoto.us have just posted the first part of their review of the new 8-megapixel Konica Minolta DiMAGE A2 digital camera.

“As I’m used to shooting with a couple of Canon 1D’s and several thousand dollars worth of lenses whenever I am working, I was very anxious to see how the latest crop of “Top Shelf” fixed lens digital cameras handled. A camera can have all the bells and whistles and whizz bang gizmos in the world. But to me, it all boils down to whether or not the camera can make a picture you are proud of.”

Canon PowerShot S1Crutchfield Advisor have just reviewed the Canon Powershot S1 IS digital camera, which offers 10x image stablised zoom, 3 megapixels and high-quality 640 x 480 video at 30 frames/second with sound.

“Canon’s S1 combines capable automatic digital photography with some really advantageous features. The optical zoom was as powerful as I expected, although I personally found it as useful for capturing candid-style photos of friends and family, or easy close-ups of small objects, as I did for zeroing in on distant subjects or scenes. (I strongly recommend the S1 for parents who want to snap digital shots of their kids; with its telephoto zoom lens, it’s a fantastic way to capture a moment without getting close enough to intrude upon it.) And the Image Stabilizer did a wonderful job of correcting for my unsteady shooting style.”

“The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T1 is an impressive camera that packs a 5 Megapixel CCD, robust performance, VGA movie mode, large LCD, and even an AF-assist lamp into an ultra-compact metal body. It does so at a hefty (list) price, though: $550. That’s a lot of bucks for a point-and-shoot camera.”
