Rollei has introduced two touch-screen cameras, the Rollei Compactline 360 TS and 370 TS, which will be on display at Photokina and available at retail from the end of September. The Rollei Compactline 360 TS is a 12-megapixel model with 4x optical zoom starting at 28mm, and 720p HD video recording functionality. The Rollei Compactline 370 TS is the same thing with a 14-megapixel imager. Both cameras include a 3-inch LCD touchscreen display with gesture support. The recommended retail price of the 360 TS is €99.95, while that of the 370 TS is €129.95.

The Casio EX-Z800 and EX-S200 are new compact cameras featuring Single Frame SR Zoom which extends the zoom range. The 14.1 megapixel Casio Z800 and S200 both offer a 4x optical zoom lens that starts at 27mm wide-angle, CCD-shift image stabilization mechanism, Premium Auto and Dynamic Photo functions. The EXILIM Card EX-S200 is a slim, high-quality, card-sized camera that is just 17.8 mm thick and only 14.9 mm at its thinnest part, while the EXILIM Zoom EX-Z800 is compact enough to fit in the palm of the hand. The Casio EX-Z800 and EX-S200 will both be available at the beginning of September 2010.

Panasonic has released firmware updates for the Panasonic Lumix LX3 and TZ7 (ZS3) digital compact cameras. Version 2.2 for the LX3 and version 1.3 for the TZ7 both optimise software processing without affecting camera performance.

The Samsung ST80 is a new Wi-Fi enabled, 14.2 megapixel point and shoot camera. The ST80 supports Wi-Fi and Samsung’s AllShare (DNLA) connectivity, as well as offering a 3 inch wide touch-screen LCD, 3x optical zoom, and 720p HD video recording. The Samsung ST80 will be available in September for $249.99 / £199.99.

Fujifilm has posted three full-resolution sample photos taken with the new Fujifilm Finepix F300EXR, a compact camera that mates a 24-360mm equivalent zoom lens to Fuji’s new generation EXR sensor. The sample shots were all taken at ISO 100, and include a still life, a portrait and a landscape photograph.

The Samsung PL200 is a stylish yet competitively priced 14.2-megapixel, 7x zoom point-and-shoot digital camera that also shoots HD video. The lens, whose 35mm equivalent focal length range goes from a relatively wide 31mm to 217mm telephoto, features optical image stabilisation. Other highlights include a three-inch rear screen, Smart Auto scene recognition technology, Beauty Shot and Smile Shot modes, as well as Blink Detection and Face Detection. Available from September, the Samsung PL200 is expected to hit the shelves at a price of about $180 / £149.99.

The Samsung ST600 and ST100 are two new 14.2 megapixel DualView compact cameras. Featuring Samsung’s revolutionary dual LCD technology, the ST600 and ST100 are the new flagship models of the Samsung DualView camera family. Both models feature a larger 1.8” front LCD screen, Smart Auto (Still & Movie) scene recognition technology and Smart Gesture User Interface. The Samsung ST600 has a 5x optical zoom / 27mm wide lens, while the ST100 offers a 5x optical inner zoom / 35mm angle lens. The Samsung ST600 and ST100 will be available in September for $329.99 and $349.99 respectively, and both will retail at around £299 in the UK..

Fujfilm today announced the Finepix Z800EXR, with next generation EXR sensor and hybrid high speed autofocus. The next generation EXR sensor in the Fujifilm Finepix Z800EXR incorporates a “Phase Detection pixel built-in CCD” that has the ability to intelligently decide between the two focusing systems on the camera. For example, when a bright, high-contrast subject is positioned in the centre of the frame, Phase Detection AF is chosen by the camera for speed; and in dark scenes, Contrast AF is employed for accuracy. Available in matt black, red, gold or shell pink, the Fujifilm Finepix Z800EXR also combines a large and high-resolution 3.5” touch-sensitive LCD with a 12-megapixel Super CCD EXR sensor, a 36-180mm equivalent Fujinon 5x optical zoom lens and ISO levels of up to 1600 at full resolution. Image stabilisation and HD video recording round off the features list. The Fujifilm Z800EXR will be available in late August 2010 at a retail price of $229.95.

The Fujifilm Finepix F300EXR is a sleek, 12-megapixel compact camera that combines intuitive use with a 24-360mm equivalent 15x Fujinon lens and Fujifilm’s next generation EXR technology with hybrid high speed autofocus. The next generation EXR sensor in the Fujifilm Finepix F300EXR incorporates a “Phase Detection pixel built-in CCD” that has the ability to intelligently decide between phase detection AF and contrast AF depending on subject and light levels. Fujifilm quotes a frankly unbelievable focus speed of 0.158 seconds for the system, which is probably a best-case scenario, but still incredible for a digital compact camera. Other highlights include a 12-megapixel EXR sensor, a new image stabilisation system, a 3” high-contrast LCD screen with a resolution of 460,000 dots, 360° Motion Panorama, and HD movie capture. The Fujifilm Finepix F300EXR will be available in late August 2010 at a retail price of $329.95.

Fujifilm has introduced the 14-megapixel Fujifilm Finepix JX280 ultra-compact digital camera with a 28-140mm equivalent 5x zoom lens, AF tracking, HD video recording and a Motion Panorama mode. Encased in a high-grade metal body, the JX280 is not only well protected from bumps and scrapes, but gives a simple, yet elegant design appearance. The Fujifilm JX280 will be available end of August 2010 at a retail price of $149.95.

Samsung has issued firmware updates for the Samsung EX1 and the Samsung TL500 (which are identical cameras but require different firmware updates nonetheless). Versions 006291 (for the EX1) and 006254 (TL500) deal with an intermittent error occurring when the camera is turned on by holding down the playback button, and improve overall system stability.

Ricoh has posted a firmware update for the Ricoh GXR system. Version 1.18 resolves an issue with the CA-1 wired remote release, and provides bug fixes for each of the currently available lens modules. Specifically, it cures a problem with the focus limiter of the A12 module,. fixes a bug with the autoexposure lock function of the S10 unit in shutter speed priority mode, and deals with audible noise heard in movies captured by P10 module when the VF-2 electronic viewfinder is attached.
