Major online retailers now list the Sigma DP2, accepting pre-orders. Amazon and B&H both quote a price of $649 for the camera, though neither has it in stock yet. Amazon says, “usually ships within 1-2 months”, while B&H expects the it to become available by May. Nikon have released a new firmware update for the Coolpix S60 camera. The following improvements have been made in version 1.1:
- The speed at which the displayed image changes with dragging in full-frame playback mode has been increased.
- The method used to enable playback zoom (enlarge image display) in full-frame playback mode has been modified.
- After using the HD Pictmotion function, sound did not begin immediately with playback of a movie. This issue has been resolved.

Official sample images from the Sigma DP2 compact camera are now available. 17 images taken by four different photographers can be downloaded at the full 1760x2640 pixel resolution. Disappointingly, none of the images use an ISO speed faster than 200, and some of the have been “retouched by the photographer”. The Sigma DP2 is a compact camera with a 14 megapixel Foveon X3, APS-C sized sensor, 41mm lens with an aperture of f/2.8 (f4 on the DP1), and the “TRUE II” image processing engine.
