The Fujifilm FinePix Z33WP is a new waterproof digital camera that can be used up to 3m underwater. The 10 megapixel Fujifilm Z33WP features a 2.7 inch LCD screen, 3x optical zoom lens, Automatic Scene Recognition mode, Face Detection and one-touch movie button. The Fujifilm FinePix Z33WP will be available in late March for $199.95.

The Fujifilm FinePix Z30 is a new 10 megapixel digital camera designed specifically for the younger generation. The Fujifilm Z30 is even sleeker than its predecessors, the Z10 and Z20, and additionally features Automatic Scene Recognition mode, a 2.7 inch LCD screen and a 3x optical zoom lens. The Fujifilm FinePix Z30 will be available in pink, orange and black in March for $179.95.

The Fujifilm FinePix J250 and J20 are new digital cameras aimed at budget-conscious buyers. The Fujifilm J250 offers a 3.0 inch LCD, 5x wide-angle zoom lens (28mm-140mm), Automatic Scene Recognition mode, mechanical and ISO-based stabilization. The Fujifilm J20 is just 17.4mm thick and houses a 10 megapixel CCD sensor, 3x optical zoom lens and a 2.7 inch LCD screen. The Fujifilm FinePix J20 will be available in black and silver in February 2009 for $129.95, and the Fujifilm FinePix J250 in black in March 2009 for $199.95.

Olympus have released new firmware updates for the mju 1060 (pictured) and FE-370 compact cameras. Version 1.2 improves the sound quality of movies edited on the camera.

Canon have released a new firmware update for the PowerShot G10 camera. Version 1.0.2.0 corrects the following phenomenon.

If RAW images are captured by continuous shooting under the ISO 1600 setting, abnormal data is recorded and a magenta cast appears in the second and subsequent RAW images. This phenomenon also occurs in the second and subsequent recorded RAW images captured by single shooting, but only if the LCD monitor display mode is set to the OFF position.
This phenomenon cannot be confirmed when images are played back on the camera’s LCD monitor. It can only be confirmed if image processing software (such as the Digital Photo Professional software bundled with the product) is used to develop RAW images on a PC.

* Images that have the magenta cast phenomenon cannot be fixed.
* The phenomenon only appears in RAW images, and does not appear in JPEG images or images appearing on the LCD monitor display.
* The phenomenon only occurs if the ISO Speed Dial is set to ISO 1600 manually, and does not occur if the ISO speed is set to other values (such as ISO AUTO or ISO HI).

The Samsung ES10 is a new 8.1 megapixel digital camera aimed at beginners. The ES10 has an 8.1 megapixel 1/2.5” CCD sensor, 2.5 inch LCD screen, 3x zoom lens (38~114mm), and features Self Portrait, Face Detection and Beauty Shot modes. Available in silver, black, white and pink, the Samsung ES10 has only been announced in Japan so far.

Canon have released a new firmware update for the PowerShot SD880 IS. Version 1.0.1.0 corrects a phenomenon that when the following settings are used in combination, if the shutter button is pressed halfway to focus during shooting (AND the AF frame magnifies), but the shutter button is released without taking the picture, the camera will lose power.

Setting details
  1. The shooting mode switch is set to Special Scene Mode (SCN), Kids&Pets.
  2. AF Point-Zoom on the menu is set to On.
    (When the AF frame is in Face Detect or Center, and the Servo AF is OFF, the AF Point-Zoom can be set to On.)

Please note that, if the shutter button is pressed halfway, and the picture is then taken, this phenomenon will not occur. If loss of power does occur, pressing the power switch will restore the camera to its normal operation.

The Pentax Optio E70L is a new 10 megapixel entry-level camera. The Kodak Easyshare C180 is a new entry-level 10 megapixel point-and-shoot compact camera. Featuring a 3x zoom lens (32–96 mm), Face detection and Blur reduction, the Kodak C180 also offers Kodak’s Perfect Touch technology, ISO speeds up to 1250, a 2.4 inch LCD screen and 16mb internal memory. The Panasonic DMC-TZ7 is a new 10 megapixel compact camera featuring a 12x, 25mm wide-angle lens and 720p video recording.
