The UK branch of Buenos Aires based photography experience company Foto Ruta has announced that its Foto Ruta Clue – Shoot Shoreditch event will take place on Sunday 24th August, from 2 to 6pm. From 4 September - 26 October 2014, the The Photographers' Gallery will be hosting Homegrown, the debut UK exhibition by celebrated American artist Julie Blackmon. Following her previously acclaimed series Domestic Vacations (2008), Homegrown(2009 - 2014) continues to explore Blackmon’s interest with both the harmony and disarray of everyday life. Informed by her personal experiences, Blackmon’s photographs are dominated by vibrant colours, graphic features and patterns. "The stress, chaos and need to simultaneously escape and connect are issues that I investigate in this body of work," Blackmon said. "Caught in a swirl of soccer practices, play dates and work we must still create the space to find ourselves. These issues as well as generational shifts in parenting styles are what I try and explore in these photographs." The gallery is located at 16-18 Ramilliers Street, London.

From Wednesday, 2 September until Sunday, 26 October 2014, the new flagship Foyles bookshop on Charing Cross Road will host a free exhibition of images by Guardian photographer David Levene. The Guardian’s pioneering Eyewitness series was revolutionary when it was introduced in full colour across the centre spread of the newspaper in 2005. Now the only daily print photo feature of this size in the British press, the hugely popular Eyewitness series continues showcase some of the world’s best news photography. Levene has had over 120 photographs featured in the daily slot, and has now chosen ten of his favourites for this exhibition. Each photograph has been blown up to over 1.5m across, allowing viewers to experience these images on a scale at which they have never been seen before. This will be the second exhibition in The Gallery at Foyles, located on the fifth floor of the new Foyles bookshop at 107 Charing Cross Road, and curated by Futurecity to celebrate ‘the word’ in all its forms.

Panasonic has announced its attendance at PhotoLive, the UK’s biggest training event for photography enthusiasts. The company will be showcasing a range of Lumix compact cameras and Micro Four Thirds models including the DMC-GH4 (pictured) and the classically designed DMC-GX7. After a successful inaugural event last year, PhotoLive will be at Leeds Metropolitan University on the 23rd August, Edinburgh Napier University on the 30th August and 200 Aldersgate, St Paul's, London on the 6th September. Canon broadcast lenses were the most widely used broadcast lenses covering the matches of the recent World Cup in Brazil, the company said in a statement. Furthermore, the professional photographers tasked with capturing the events utilised Canon DSLR cameras and lenses more than any other brand. Throughout the tournament, approximately 70 percent of imaging professionals chose Canon DSLRs and lenses to capture and share the memorable moments of the matches, the company claims. At each of the 12 stadiums that hosted football matches in Brazil, Canon Professional Service had teams of technical and professional representatives providing imaging professionals with access to product support, equipment maintenance, and product loans.

An exciting new exhibition showcasing a range of stunning images from some of London’s up and coming photographers opened in West London today. ‘Hidden Rivers’ is free to attend, and is the debut exhibition of a group of photographers who honed their technical skills and creativity on Kensington and Chelsea College’s BTEC National Diploma in photography. The techniques used to produce the featured images include processes dating back to the beginning of photography, right through to digitally generated images, and screen-based work. The exhibition runs until Thursday, 24th July at the College’s Chelsea Centre Gallery on Hortensia Road, SW10 0QS.

Newcastle-based pro lab Digitalab is set to stage a unique six week exhibition of latest work from multi-award-winning Tim Wallace. The lab will display around thirty images shot by Wallace using just one Fujifilm X-Pro1 camera and one 14mm lens in Darwin, an abandoned ‘ghost town’ in the hostile Death Valley desert.: “The sheer scale and beauty of the Death Valley wilderness has always held a fascination for me and the idea of a photographic expedition to an abandoned town in its very heart was irresistible," Tim Wallacce says. Jessops Summer Photo Festival, now in its second year, kicks off today and runs for 7 weeks until (20th August). The first week is Sony Week, with a dozen demonstration days taking place in-store, including two seminars by guest speakers Michael Wayne Plant and Nick Webster. Michael Wayne Plant is a Sony Advocate and social documentary photographer who is constantly learning new ways to work with his subjects on the stories that interest him. He holds a particular interest in Street Portrait photography and will be sharing his top tips for getting that perfect street photograph. He will be showing how he uses the Sony A7 A7R and going through camera settings, sharing tricks and enabling you make the camera work for its customisable features. Now in its 157th year, The Royal Photographic Society’s annual International Print Exhibition is the longest standing exhibition of its kind in the world, dating back to 1854. The selection for this year's event exhibition has been made and the exhibition of 100 prints will open in London on 31 July 2014. The winners, who come from Germany, USA and the UK, will be announced at a reception the same evening. The photographs will be shown in the opening exhibiton at Berkeley Gallery, Greenwich Heritage Centre, Woolwich.

Nikon has announced its sponsorship of a photography exhibition titled, Dennis Hopper: The Lost Album. Hosted at the Royal Academy of Arts in London, the exhibition will present more than 400 original photographs taken between 1961 and 1967 by Dennis Hopper, the American actor, film director, and artist. The photographs were personally selected and edited by Hopper for his first major exhibition at the Fort Worth Art Center in Texas in 1970, and the vintage prints were only re-discovered after his death in 2010. Jeremy Gilbert, Group Marketing Manager at Nikon UK, comments: “Hopper shot some fantastic images that reflected a personal perspective of an interesting period in history. Knowing that Hopper shot his work on a Nikon camera, with no formal training is truly inspirational and we look forward to celebrating his work with support of the exhibition this summer.” Te exhibition will run from Thursday 26 June – Sunday 19 October 2014.

Primrose: Early Colour Photography in Russia is an upcoming retrospective of colour experiments and developments in Russian photography over the course of a century. Primrose will feature over 140 works, many never before seen in the UK, spanning the 1860s through to the 1980s. These will be arranged in five chronological sections, each looking at different periods and the ir prevailing photographic aesthetics. The exhibition will include works by Dmitri Baltermants, Sergei Mikhailovich, Prokudin-Gorsky, Alexander Rodchenko, Ivan Shagin, and Boris Mikhailov among others. The International Photography Hall of Fame and Museum will open its upcoming exhibition, Portrait/Process, on 19th June. Running until 28th September, the exhibition appeals to the voyeur in all of us while exploring the various genres of photographic portraits. Providing a historical perspective on the portrait from the daguerreotype to the smartphone, Portrait/Process is divided into sections exploring the various portrait forms such as the environmental portrait, the self-portrait, the vernacular portrait and the historical portrait. The Opening Reception for the Portrait/Process exhibition will take place on Thursday evening, June 19, 2014 from 6:00 until 9:00 pm. This reception is free and open to the public.
