This month, the Lomographic Society is celebrating the Lomo LC-A’s 30th birthday. The company is offering everyone a chance to star in their LC-A stop-motion lomo advert; which will air non-stop in their shopwindows telling all the world what Lomography is. The 14th Annual Review Santa Fe Photo Festival, a juried portfolio review conference for photographers, is taking place from 27-28 June 2014. Every year, 100 photographers travel from all over the world for this internationally-renowned event where photographers meet with top publishers, editors, curators, gallerists and others. Many now well-recognised photographers launched their careers at Review Santa Fe. Participants will arrive from 26 U.S. states and 13 countries, including Israel, Belgium, Ireland, Japan, Finland, Columbia, China, Germany, UK and Italy.Additionally, over 40 leading photo professionals will serve as reviewers at the event to seek out new talent. Samsung invites consumers to #DITCHtheDSLR at Ditch Day on New York’s Times Square today from 12pm – 6pm ET. Attendees have the opportunity to trade-in a DSLR in exchange for a new Samsung NX30 (pictured). The event features several unique shooting stations where consumers have the opportunity to experience the full line of mirrorless and SMART cameras in a variety of scenarios. Canon U.S.A. has kicked off its Canon In Action Tour, an educational roadshow ideal for advanced amateur SLR users and filmmaking enthusiasts. The tour includes live-learning seminars and workshops in several major US cities between now and 23 November 2014. Tour attendees will have the opportunity to take part in an in-depth Imaging Essentials Saturday seminar, and/or intensive Sunday training workshops for a nominal fee. Each Saturday seminar covers still-imaging topics ranging from lens selection and composition, to understanding histograms and flash photography with Canon’s versatile Speedlite system. RIBA’s new Architecture Gallery will present the first major retrospective of Edwin Smith, one of Britain’s foremost 20th century photographers. Ordinary Beauty: The Photography of Edwin Smith will display 100 extraordinary black and white photographs from a collection of over 60,000 negatives given by Olive Cook, Smith’s widow and collaborator, to the RIBA Library. From urban scenes documenting British social history to evocative landscape images and atmospheric interiors, the images displayed reveal the genius and breadth of his work. Alongside his images of Britain the exhibition will show photographs taken on his travels to Europe as well as his published books and photographic equipment. Specially filmed contributions ranging from Alan Bennett to broadcaster Gillian Darley offer personal perspectives of Smith’s work. Taking place from10 September – 6 December 2014, the exhibition will be accompanied by a series of talks, films and events.

The exhibition hall of Fundación MAPFRE will be hosting a Henri Cartier-Bresson retrospective from 28 June to 7 September 2014. Featuring over five hundred photographs, drawings, paintings, films and documents; the exhibition has been organised by the Centre Pompidou de Paris with the participation of the Cartier-Bresson Foundation. This is the first major retrospective exhibition to be held in Europe since the artist's death. The exhibition hall is located at Paseo de Recoletos, 23, 28004, Madrid.

Photographer Anthony Epes (of Cities at Dawn fame) has a new exhibition launching next month - a collection of portraits of the players of The Homeless World Cup. He photographed the project at two of their annual tournaments - in Mexico City in 2012 and Poznan in 2013. The project will be exhibited at Downstairs at Mother from 6th-13th June and then transfer to Spitalfields Market as part of the East End Film Festival from 16th-22nd June.

Held in Berlin on 12-13 September 2014, the EyeEm Global Photography Festival & Awards include a global photo competition open for all photographers, from novice to professional. Judges include renowned photography director Anna G. Dickson from The Huffington Post, New York Times photographer Daniel Krieger, Olivier Laurent from TIME magazine, and Stephen Mayes, member of the founding management team at Getty Images. Roca London Gallery will host a photographic exhibition during the London Festival of Architecture (2nd June – 23rd August), exploring some of the capital’s key regeneration projects and their impact on the city’s inhabitants. Entitled Regenerating Capital: Healthy growth, healthy city?, the exhibition will explore the impact regeneration has on green spaces, small businesses, local communities and valued buildings while supporting an increasing population. The exhibition, which is free to visit and open to all, will provide a fascinating insight into how London is coping with the impacts of dramatic shifts within its demography, economy, inhabitants and ecology.

Photographers Lucy Harrison and Katherine Green have collaborated on a new project that surveys the former Warner Estate in the suburbs of East London. The project explores the changing uses of domestic architecture and communities, and compares two points in history of rapid change in East London. A mixture of contemporary photography and oral history will be presented alongside early 20th century photographs as well as other historical material related to the Warner Estate. The exhibition opens on Friday 30th May and runs through Sunday 15th June. To accompany the exhibition, a new limited edition book is also being published and there will be free walks, talks and events throughout.

Photo Shanghai is China’s first art fair dedicated to photography. Running from 5-7 September 2014, the Photo Shanghai fair will see as many as seventy leading galleries exhibit works from fine-art photographers and legendary photojournalists such as Josef Sudek, Edward Burtynsky, Nick Brandt, Robert Polidori, Peter Lindbergh, Patrick Demarchelier, Araki, Mokiyama, Martin Parr, Steve Mc Curry, Sebastiao Salgado and Henri Cartier-Bresson. Sandy Angus, co-founder of ART HK (now Art Basel Hong Kong) and Chairman of Montgomery and the World Photography Organisation, said: “The vast Asian art market has seen considerable growth over the past decade and in that time photography has been an ever-increasing part within the contemporary art space. China has the advantage of a treasure trove of ancient photographs as well as an appreciation of the medium of photography and its place in the art world. An Indian Inflection is a solo exhibition of new work by award-winning photographer, Jack Fillery. The five-week long exhibition at The Borough Barista in London’s St James comprises of 22 photographs taken across India in January 2014. The prints, shot in a limited colour palette, are intended to offer an alternative perspective to typical artistic expectations of India, which Fillery argues often present a rose-tinted view of the country. An Indian Inflection, by contrast, aims to offer a more honest and uncompromising opinion of a nation that is the photographer feels is characterised by polar forces of disorder and unity in equal measure. The exhibition opens on 22nd May 2014 (6pm – 9pm) and will run daily at The Borough Barista and will run from 22nd May until 1st July 2014. The Borough Barista is located at 15 Charles II Street, St James, London, SW1Y 4QU.

Fujifilm and Jessops have teamed up to host a seminar and workshop with leading commercial portrait photographer Jim Marks. Taking place on Saturday 17th May at Jessops Oxford Street, the two-hour seminar will consist of Jim providing a background to some of his favourite work, an overview of tips and techniques, the opportunity to shoot in a studio environment with Jim, and to try Fujifilm's latest products.
