The Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 180–400mm f/4E TC1.4 FL ED VR is the first Nikon telephoto lens to have a built-in 1.4x teleconverter. Priced at a whopping £10,999 / €12,400 / $12,399, the Nikon 80-400mm f/4 promises edge-to-edge sharpness throughout the zoom range, even when shooting wide open, plus built-in Vibration Reduction (VR) which offers a four-stop advantage. Sales of the Nikon 80-400mm f/4 lens will start on March 8th 2018.

The AF 14mm F2.8 EF is Samyang's first ever autofocus lens for Canon full-frame DSLR cameras. The optical construction features a total of 15 lenses in 10 groups that include 7 special optic lenses to maximise image quality. The compact Samyang AF 14mm F2.8 EF weighs only 485g without lens caps and hood and also features weather-sealing and a built-in AF/MF switch.

The Samyang AF 14mm F2.8 EF lens will be available globally from February, with a suggested retail price of £649 in the UK.

The Sony E 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 OSS is a new compact, lightweight APS-C lens. Featuring a versatile 18-135mm focal length, aperture range of F3.5-F5.6 and optical SteadyShot stabilisation, the Sony 18-135mm lens produces outstanding corner-to-corner sharpness throughout the entire zoom range, while its maximum magnification ratio of 0.29x and minimum focus distance of 0.45m promises pleasing bokeh and background defocus. The Sony E 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 OSS (SEL18135) will be available from February 2018, priced at approximately £570 / $600 US / $780 CA.

Sony will also be releasing a new silver colour option for the popular A6300 camera. The sleek new silver camera body will be available in February 2018 at select retailers in Europe.

The new Hasselblad XPan lens adapter for X System cameras allows photographers to use their legacy XPan lenses on the X1D. The XPan Adapter will be available in mid-January and will retail at €179 / US $179 / £159 / RMB ¥ 1,580 / JPY ¥  21,999 incl. VAT.

Meyer Optik Goerlitz announced today that it is developing the next generation of the Primoplan 75/1.9, dubbed the the P75 II. Meyer Optik has reduced the lens' minimum focal distance by almost 30% to just 55cm or 1.8 ft, improved image contrast and resolution, and added support for mirrorless medium format cameras such as the Hasselblad XD 1 or Fuji’s GFX 50s.

Launched to celebrate the 50th anniversary of The International Leica Society (LHSA), the Leica APO-Summicron-M 50 mm f/2 ASPH. ‘LHSA’ special edition lens boasts design details from its 1954 predecessor alongside modern, outstanding imaging performance. The ‘LHSA’ lens is available in two colors, the outer brass elements of the lens and the lens hood are finished either in black paint or in silver chrome, and is limited to just 500 units: 300 in black paint finish and 200 in silver chrome. The lens will be available in January 2018 for $9,595.

The Leica Noctilux-M 75 mm f/1.25 ASPH. lens opens up entirely new opportunities in portrait and close-up photography. The Leica Noctilux-M 75 mm f/1.25 ASPH. will be available at the beginning of 2018 for $12,795 / £10,250 (incl. VAT).

Official sample images taken with the new Sigma 16mm F1.4 DC DN Contemporary lens are now available. Sigma Japan have published 3 full-size Sigma 16mm photos, whilst Sigma Canada have posted a gallery of samples from a pre-production lens. The Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN | Contemporary is expected to begin shipping in December with a suggested retail price of $599.95.

The Mitakon SPEEDMASTER 135mm F1.4 is the world's fastest 135mm lens, newly available in 7 different mounts. First launched in 2015, the Mitakon 135mm f/1.4 is now available in Canon EF / Nikon F / Pentax K / Sony E / Sony A / Fuji Film G / Leica L mounts for ¥330,000 / $3000. The new version can be pre-ordered for an initial part-payment of ￥60,000 here.

The Panasonic LEICA DG ELMARIT 200mm F2.8 POWER O.I.S. is a compact and lightweight super-telephoto lens. The Panasonic 200mm f/2.8 lens offers a 400mm super-telephoto focal length equivalent, f/2.8 maximum aperture, built-in optical image stabilisation, a rugged dust/splash/freeze--proof design, and a triple linear motor system and max.240 fps sensor drive for high-speed, high-precision auto-focusing.

The Panasonic 200mm lens will go on sale in December 2017 with an RRP of £2,699 (€3,099). The free bundled 1.4x Teleconverter (DMW-TC14) increases the focal length to 560mm.

Hasselblad is expanding the XCD lens range to a total of nine lenses in 2018 with the addition of the XCD 135mm f/2.8 and XCD 80mm lenses. The XCD 135mm f/2.8 lens comes with a dedicated 1,7x converter that extends the tele lens to 230mm f/4.8, while the XCD 80mm is set to become the highest aperture lens that Hasselblad has ever introduced. 

In addition, the previously announced XCD 22mm ultra-wide-angle lens has been updated to 21mm with an aperture of f/4.0, the XCD 35-75mm zoom lens will have f/3.5-4.5, and the XCD 65mm lens will have f/2.8.

Panasonic is offering up to £100 (€120) cashback when purchasing a Lumix or Lumix G-Series camera and £100 (€120) off Panasonic and Panasonic Leica Lenses. All cashback is available from 25^th October 2017 – 30^th January 2018 from participating retailers.

Nikon today announced that operations of their consolidated subsidiary Nikon Imaging China (NIC) will be discontinued. In practice, this means the closure of a factory in Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province, which used to manufacture digital compact cameras, as well as lens units. Nikon says, "due to the rise of smartphones, the compact digital camera market has been shrinking rapidly, leading to a significant decrease in operating rate at NIC and creating a difficult business environment." In future, the Nikon will focus more on high value-added products - which probably means DSLR cameras, flashguns and interchangeable Nikkor lenses. The closure of the Wuxi City plant is effective today. Nikon Imaging (China) Sales Co., Ltd. (NICS), the company’s sales subsidiary in Shanghai, continues in full operation as normal.

Ricoh today announced a new generation of high-performance Star-series lenses optimised for high-megapixel digital SLR cameras. The first two lenses developed for the new-generation of Star-series quality—the HD Pentax-D FA* 50mm F1.4 SDM AW and the HD Pentsx-DA* 11-18mm F2.8—will be on display as reference products at Photo Plus Expo 2017 at the Javits Convention Center in New York (October 26-28) and SALON de la PHOTO 2017 in Paris (November 9-13). The HD-Pentax-D FA* 50mm F1.4 SDM AW is an all-weather full-frame standard prime with a newly-developed Supersonic Direct-drive Motor for faster, quieter AF operation. The HD-Pentax-DA* 11-18mm F2.8 is an ultra-wide-angle zoom lens for APS-C cameras. The full-frame lens will be available from spring 2018, while the zoom lens will hit the shelves in summer 2018.

Tamron today revealed a new ultra-telephoto zoom lens, 100-400mm F/4.5-6.3 Di VC USD, for full-frame Canon and Nikon DSLR cameras. The lens delivers fast and precise AF performance and 4 stops of image stabilisation (Vibration Compensation in Tamron parlance) thanks to the manufacturer'shigh-speed Dual MPU (Micro-Processing Unit) control system. The optical formula comprises 17 elements in 11 groups, includinglens elements for optimal optical design and aberration correction; and an electromagnetic diaphragm system in both the Canon and Nikon versions. The lens is compatible with Tamron's 1.4X tele converter and the Tamron TAP-in Console that enables lens customisations for focus adjustments, VC mechanism adjustments and more. Additionally, an Arca Swiss compatible tripod mount is available as an optional accessory. The new Tamron 100-400mm will be available in both Canon and Nikon mounts from 16th November for $799.

Olympus Japan have released a pair of high-resolution sample photos captured with their brand new M.Zuiko Digital ED 45mm f/1.2 PRO lens. Taken with the lens mounted to an Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II compact system camera, these M.Zuiko Digital ED 45mm f/1.2 PRO samples were taken at f/1.2 and f/1.6.
