The Wapping Project \ Bankside has announced the acquisition of two works by British-Iranian photographer Mitra Tabrizian. These include The Long Wait and Deadly Affair, both from the Border series. Both of these pictures have been acquired by the Freer and Sackler galleries at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C. A third Tabrizian image, Tehran 2006, has been acquired by the Los Angeles County Museum (LACMA).

Black Diamond is the first solo show at the gallery by Mishka Henner one of the UK's most significant artists working with the photographic medium. Hosted by Carroll7Fletcher (56 - 57 Eastcastle St. London, W1W 8EQ), the exhibition brings together four distinct but interrelated series of work, based on the collection and mediation of publicly available information sourced through social media, the Internet and drones, and considers the way in which these technologies are used by the government, intelligence agencies and corporations. In the artist's recent Oil Fields and Feedlots series (2013-14), large-scale photographic prints reminiscent of vast Abstract Expressionist canvases represent landscapes carved by industries meeting extraordinary levels of consumer demand for two of North America's most prized commodities: oil and beef. Displayed on plinths filling the rear gallery space, Fifty-One US Military Outposts (2010) is a series of photographs of overt and covert military outposts used by the United States in 51 countries worldwide. Finally, the exhibition also includes new multimedia works from Henner's Scam Baiters series.

Unresolved Dreams is an exhibition of photographs by photojournalist Ed Kashi, currently on display at the gallery@oxo in London. Commissioned by The European Azerbaijan Society (TEAS), Ed has charted the lives of a handful of the approximately one million Azerbaijani internally displaced persons (IDPs) and refugees who are the ongoing casualties of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh. The exhibition runs from 10–13 April, and is open every day from 11a.m. to 6p.m.

​American photographer Mary Ellen Mark has been honoured with the 2014 Sony World Photography Awards’ Outstanding Contribution to Photography award. "Beginning as a freelance photographer often working on film sets, Mark’s career has spanned four decades and seen her travel extensively," the World Photography Organisation said in a statement. "Her work is characterised by a constant vision to make pictures that reflect a high degree of humanism and to capture and acknowledge people on the edges of society." A special retrospective of Mark’s work will be shown at Somerset House from 1-18 May as part of the 2014 Sony World Photography Awards Exhibition.

Capa - Europe 1943-1945 is a new exhibition of vintage Robert Capa prints, hosted by the Daniel Blau Gallery in London. Many of these prints will be exhibited here for the first time, and some are newly recognised as Capa's work. The gallery is located at 51 Hoxton Square, London, N1 6PB. The exhibition will be on display from 4th April until 10th May.

This month Phase One’s David Grover will host three new interactive webinars featuring professional photographers. On Friday 14th March, fashion photographer Jaime DeMarco will respond to attendees' questions and get down into the details of post processing to get the perfect images. On the 19th, LA-based food photographer, Matt Armendariz will talk about his images, while on Thursday, 27th March,UK based landscape photographer Steve Gosling will reveal some of his workflow secrets and respond to questions. Russian Photography is a new online exhibition presented by the Photographic Museum of Humanity (PMH). Curated by Anna Shpakova, Director of Photography at the Russian agency Ria Novosti, this exhibition explores the work of Anastasia Rudenko, Georgy Pervov, Denis Tarasov, Ilya Batrakov and the Grozny Collective Project. "The stories we are presenting today at the Photographic Museum are very diverse: we are introducing photographers from different generations, individual and group projects, and we are showing bodies of work from various genres: from documentary photography to a completely original genre entitled 'photographic realism', coined by the photographer," Shpakova says.

Unscripted is a retrospective exhibition of works by photographer and Arts University Bournemouth (AUB) alumnus Karen Fuchs. Hosted by TheGallery, the exhibition will take place from 13 March - 24 April 2014. ‘Unscripted’ was first shown at M&C Saatchi, London during the 2012 Olympic Games and features a rare collection of unseen Usain Bolt images from 2004-11. Karen is the only photographer who extensively captured unique images of five-times IAAF World Athlete of the Year champion before he really shot to fame as one of the most successful athletes in the world. AUB is located two miles from the centre of Bournemouth, on the border between Bournemouth and Poole. Admission is free.

Flowers Gallery (21 Cork Street,London W1S 3lZ) will host the first European exhibition of South Korean photographer Boomoon. Comprising selected works from his series Sansu, Naksan, Northscape and On the Clouds, Boomoon’s debut UK exhibition will be accompanied by a new catalogue published by Flowers with text by Charlotte Cotton. A monograph published by Nazraeli press (£32) illustrating 33 works from the Naksan series will also be available. The exhibition opens on 26th February and runs until 5th April.

Canon: A Year in Fashion is a documentary film highlighting the relationship between images and fashion. Presented by Andy Torres, the blogger from StyleScrapbook.com, the film tells a story about the symbiosis of photography and fashion as seen by those working behind the scenes. Featured photographers include Clive Booth, Tony Wellington and a number of student photographers who shot catwalk shows from the photographers’ pit for the first time in 2013. ‘Ephemeral’ is the first UK exhibition of photographer and artist Fabian Oefner. Hosted by East London gallery theprintspace, ‘Ephemeral’ celebrates the intersection of art and science in spectacular, split second moments. The 24 images intricately detail natural phenomena that appear in our daily lives, such as sound waves, liquid dynamics, forces of movement and magnetism. The exhibition opens on 6th March and runs for three weeks. The gallery is located at, 74 Kingsland Road, London E2 8DL.

As part of the Kings Place Words on Monday series, PhotoVoice has announced an illustrated talk by award-winning photographer Nick Danziger. "More than anything else Nick Danziger is a traveller, a storyteller and an explorer of places and situations that most of us would never dare to go near," the organisers say. "He is a contemporary everyman, through whose eyes we can begin to understand the outside world." The event is taking place at Kings Place, 90 York Way, London, N1 9AG, from 7pm on 3rd March. SmugMug Films have launched their second video in the series, Jessica Ambats – Capturing the Beauty of Flight. Jessica Ambats is an air-to-air photographer (meaning she takes photos of planes from planes) and instrument-rated pilot based in Santa Monica.  Her images capture not only modern and historical planes performing feats thousands of feet above our heads, often close enough to capture the exhilarated expression of the pilot on board, but also the gorgeous scenery below. 'Kesh Angels is a solo exhibition of work by the Moroccan-born, UK-based artist, Hassan Hajjaj. Hosted by Taymour Grahne Gallery, ‘Kesh Angels presents a unique take on the vibrant street culture of Morocco and pays tribute to the biker culture of the young women of Marrakesh in a series of photographs, limited edition objects, an installation, and a video. The exhibition is also accompanied by a book on the last decade of Hajjaj’s work, published jointly by Taymour Grahne Gallery and Rose Issa Projects. Hajjaj's images will be on display from tomorrow until 2nd March.

Eivissa is a new series in a rapidly growing portfolio of work by talented international photographer Annelies Damen. Hosted by Embassy Tea Gallery, 195-205 Union Street, London, SE1 0LN; this is her first London exhibition of work developed while on location on Ibiza (Eivissa, is the Catalan name for the island). The show encompasses the running theme in her work which is the exploration and celebration of women surrounded by the natural world. The photographs will be on display from 6-9 March 2014.

London from the Rooftops is a new exhibition of works by North London photographer James Burns. Hosted by theprintspace gallery in Shoreditch, the exhibition features 66 new images captured from the city’s tallest buildings. The exhibition will run from 27th of January until 11th of February 2014, Mon - Fri 9am - 7pm. The gallery is located at 74 Kingsland Road, E2 8DL London. Admission is free.

The Sony Global Imaging Ambassadors programme is a new initiative celebrating the beauty of photography. Through this programme, Sony will work closely with a range of photographers with diverse styles from across the globe. Inaugural participants include William Klein and photographers from the leading international photo agency, Panos Pictures. Yoshiyuki Nogami, Senior General Manager, Marketing Division, DI Business Group, Sony commented: “The Global Ambassadors Programme is an extremely exciting project that allows Sony to lend its technical expertise to some of the world’s leading photographers to enable them to bring their creative visions to life. From Sony’s perspective, we are able to gather valuable feedback about what photographers want from their equipment which will shape our new product development and help us move towards our goal of providing the best digital imaging products available in the market.”

Olympus UK's latest pop-up event is an exhibition of vintage photographs by Denis O'Regan. Taken in the 1980s with an assortment of Olympus OM series film cameras, these images were all shot on the band's record breaking 1984 "Sing Blue Silver" tour. The show has been put together to celebrate the impending release of Denis's coffee table book "Careless Memories," which contains hundreds of exquisitely restored, previously unseen photographs, taken mostly during the North American and Japanese legs of the band’s tour. Open until 5th December, the exhibition venue is located at 15 Foubert's Place, just off London's famous Carnaby Street.

A Day at Home is a new photographic series by Charlotte Colbert. With playful nods to Bourgeois’ “femme-maison”, the visuals of ruins and fairy tales, Colbert questions the daily insanity of being human, more specifically within the context of the home. Shot on location, in a derelict house in Bethnal Green, the ruins become a character in themselves, the murky mindscape from which one cannot escape. The series will be on display at Gazelli Art House, a commercial art organisation dedicated to providing a new setting for the creation of contemporary art, from 29th November – 12th December 2013. Gazelli Art House is located at 39 Dover St, London.

Lowepro has confirmed its support for two teenage wildlife photographers – Alex Berryman and Kyle Moore. Over the past 3 years, North East Hampshire based Alex Berryman, now aged 16, has focused particularly on the birds of Britain. His work has been published in numerous national magazines, including BBC Wildlife Magazine, RSPB Phoenix magazine, Bird Watching and the Telegraph newspaper. Kyle Moore (pictured) is a 15-year-old wildlife and nature photographer based in Suffolk. His favourite subjects to photograph include barn owls, foxes, deer and kingfishers. Loraine Morgan, Senior Marketing Manager said: "We are very proud to already support some of the UK’s top photographers - but equally excited to be supporting and guiding the next generation... Both Alex and Kyle’s skill and enthusiasm caught our eye and we are really pleased to have them on board."
