“Weightlessness in a void of white evokes the endless possibilities for fun that out there for everyone - not just kids.”
“Great composition, color, and exposure. Excellent timing on the shot. When I look at the pic, I’m waiting for the sled to hit the ground, which gives the impression of movement in my mind.”

Judges Comments:
“Beautiful effect on the water. Very serene photo. It evokes a sense of peace and quiet, and yet you can almost hear the water coming down the creek.”
“This photograph captures the theme, Movement, immediately. The flowing water, the flow of the stream from top to bottom, and the mixture of whites, grays, and blues add to the feeling of movement. The contrast of the intense green moss also make an impact against the cool water and create a strong composition.”
Prize: Photobird.com one-year subscription with 100 megabytes of storage space, kindly donated by Photobird.com.

“Excellent perspective on this photo. It’s a welcome change from the viewpoint most people have of horse races and puts the viewer right there next to the action.”
“Good compostition with the winning horse exiting the frame and the chasing horses entering it.”
Prize: 1 copy of Digital Photography Captured Volume 1, kindly donated by KnowledgeTrek.

You’ve probably already noticed that PhotographyBLOG has been updated today - I’ve arrived back in the UK after my very enjoyable 10-day trip to Tenerife (to be greeted last night by snow and sub-zero temperatures!). Normal service has now been resumed, although I still have to read the 1,900 emails in my inbox :-) (although about 90% of them will probably be spam). So if you’ve emailed me during the last 10 days, you should have a reply by tomorrow morning.

Hola! Just a quick post from mostly cloudy, sometimes sunny Santa Cruz in Tenerife (this already sounds like the beginning of a postcard!). It looks like the site is running itself well enough without me - I’ll have more time on Wednesday so expect to see a bigger update then. Remember that I won’t be answering email until Monday March 1st.

I’m off to Santa Cruz in Tenerife on Wednesday for a 10-day trip to soak up the sun and photograph the Carnival, which apparently is the second-biggest in the world after Rio de Janeiro (at least that’s what the guidebook claims). Consequently I won’t be answering emails or updating PhotographyBLOG until I arrive back on March 1st. The Photo of the Week competition will also return on that day.

I’ve just been idly browsing through my website visitor stats and noticed these three entries:

1720 http://www.steves-digicams.com/pma2004_index.html

It seems that both Luminous Landscape and Steves Digicams linked to my site and PMA Roundup page, and I didn’t even realise until 5 minutes ago! So thanks to Michael and Steve for sending that extra traffic my way :-)

Judges Comments:
“This photograph captured my attention right away with the image of the reflection in the puddle. The strong contrast of the white clouds against the black of the buildings draws my eyes right to the center, and the vertical lamp post(reflection and real) draws my attention to the entire composition. An interesting idea.”
“One of the few black and white entries, of a scene that many photographers would have walked right past.”
Prize: 1 copy of Digital Photography Captured Volume 1, kindly donated by KnowledgeTrek.

Shortcut PhotoZoom Pro is a software program that promises to resize your photos without losing any quality. I needed a program like Shortcut PhotoZoom Pro for two reasons. I wanted to create a 30x20 inch print at 254dpi from a Canon EOS 10D source file, and I also needed to interpolate some 10D files up to 48Mb in size for submission to an image library. So did Shortcut PhotoZoom Pro deliver on its promises? Find out in my review.
