Brother have unveiled three new colour All-in-One inkjet printers which include the first widescreen color LCD screens. The catchily named MFC-465CN ($149.99), MFC-685CW ($199.99), and MFC-885CW ($249.99) will be available in October. “These new models follow Brother’s blueprint of exceeding the expectations of today’s home and home office consumers by delivering many more features at a better value than the competition”, said Joyce Brittingham, Senior Product Manager at Brother International. “Our new widescreen color LCD models show Brother’s dedication to enhance the user experience and provide a unique customer value”.

The Epson R1900 printer produces durable, superior quality, Hi-Definition photos up to A3+ on a wide range of media. The R1900 includes groundbreaking image processing algorithms and a new formulation of Epson UltraChrome Hi-Gloss Ink technology. UltraChrome Hi-Gloss2 offers a wider colour gamut, natural skin tones and consistent colour with a smooth gloss finish. The Epson R1900 prints onto glossy, matte and fine art paper in cut-sheet and roll format and directly onto printable CD’s and DVD’s. The Epson R1900 will cost £399.99, available November 2007. The Epson R1900 will be available in the first quarter of 2008 in the US for $549.99.

CNET have reviewed the Epson PictureMate Dash (also known as the PM 260) compact photo printer, which can produce a 10x15cm borderless lab-quality photo in just 37 seconds.

“As we played with the printer, we had really high hopes: It’s jam-packed with great features, it’s easy to use, and it blew away the $100 competition in CNET Labs’ speed test. But (and it’s a big but), the picture quality was very disappointing. If you’re after the most features in a snapshot printer, this is the one you should get—just go into it knowing you won’t get the best prints available.”

PrinterInfo have just reviewed the HP Photosmart A626 compact printer, which features the world’s first 4.8-inch color touchscreen LCD, built-in handle, foldup tray and, optional battery.

“Despite the HP Photosmart A626’s quality shortcomings, we really did like the way the touch-screen operates and found the menu design to be very intuitive and easy to learn. The touch-screen buttons also respond fast, and the ability to work with the menu while a photo is being printed is a big plus. The interface with the computer can be fairly easy and can get more complicated if so desired. A printer with a single ink cartridge is usually not much fuss, and this is the case with the A626. The input paper tray is well designed.”

PrinterInfo have reviewed the Canon mini320, a new compact photo printer that produces 7x5 inch prints and features a high-definition 2.5” LCD screen and Easy-Scroll Wheel interface.

TrustedReviews have tested the Canon MP610 PIXMA Photo All-in-One which combines photo lab quality printing with copy and scan functionality.

“Print quality from the PIXMA MP610 is very good, with black print coming through clear and strong and with very little feathering. Graphics print is also well reproduced, with even black print over coloured backgrounds looking clean and well registered. Our photo test prints showed smooth colour gradations in the sky and fine detail in the foreground of the image. There was plenty of detail in darker, shadowed areas, too.”

A survey by J.D. Power and Associates has found that Canon ranks highest among photo printer brands in providing its customers with a satisfying experience. The survey of 814 customers ranked Canon highest with a score of 728 on a 1,000-point scale. Hewlett-Packard followed Canon in the rankings with a score of 707. “While price continues to be the most important factor to customers in shopping for a photo printer, because of fundamental price parity, other aspects of the product, like quality, ease of use and portability are largely defining brands, and are becoming the critical points of product differentiation between them.” said Steve Kirkeby, executive director of telecommunications and technology at J.D. Power and Associates.

The Epson PictureMate Dash and PictureMate Zoom are new 4”x6” compact photo printers that offer up to 200 year print life. Both PictureMate Dash and PictureMate Zoom produce borderless 4”x6” prints in as fast as 37 seconds. Both models feature a large built-in premium photo viewer with a 3.6” total viewing area. The Mitsubishi CP-9800DW is a new digital photo printer that can create a 4” x 6” print in just 8.7 seconds and 100 prints in 15 minutes. The CP9800DW offers four print sizes (3.5” x 5”, 4” x 6”, 5” x 7”, and 6” x 9”) with edge-to-edge printing. “Not only does it produce a print quickly, it does so without any sacrifice to the resolution quality of the print. The HP Photosmart A440 camera and printer dock Series is an easy-to-use, complete photo system. The A440 is compatible with all PictBridge-enabled- and select HP Photosmart E- and M-series digital cameras. The HP A440 has an estimated US price of $179-189 and will be available in September 2007 in North America.

The HP D5360 prints lab-quality photos and laser-quality black text using HP 6 ink color Vivera inks. Featuring a 1.5 inch color LCD display, the D5360 can also print personal photos, designs and text directly onto CDs and DVDs. The HP D5360 will cost $99 and be available in September in North America.

The HP 6988 printer series is aimed at the home and small business customer. Support for wired and wireless networks is included, with print speeds up to 36 pages per minute (ppm) black and up to 27 ppm color. The HP 6988dt also offers an automatic two-sided printing accessory and 250 sheet plain paper tray. The HP 6988 costs $129 and the HP 6988dt $179. Both printers are expected to be available for purchase in September 2007 in North America.

The HP C4385 All-in-One printer, scanner and copier delivers true-to-life photos without a PC. Wireless connectivity, a 1.5 inch color LCD display and Smart Web Printing are all included. The HP C4385 has an estimated US street price of $139 and is available in September.

The HP C8180 All-in-One delivers the fastest and easiest way to print photos at home. The C8180 features a 3.5 inch touchscreen LCD plus built-in wireless, Bluetooth and Ethernet connectivity. Available in September in North America, the HP C8180 will cost $399.99.

The HP C7280 All-in-One offers lab-quality photos, laser-quality documents, with copy, scan and fax functionality. Offering built-in wireless and Ethernet connectivity, the C7280 can print up to 34 pages per minute black and 33 ppm color. The HP C7280 has an estimated US street price of $299 and is available in September 2007.
