TeoreX has released a new version of its intelligent resizing utility iResizer. Version 2.5 brings built-in aspect ratio presets for easier conversion of images to printer-friendly formats, optimised memory usage and a number of usability improvements. Users can now pick a destination aspect ratio, select the image elements they want to preserve, click a button - and watch the photo transform magically into a format that fills the target paper size completely while all important elements of the image remain intact. The program is available for Windows XP or higher and for Max OS X 10.7 or higher for $19.99.

Canon has announced the upcoming launch of Digital Photo Professional (DPP) 4.0. The latest version of DPP - available for download at the end of this mont - has been updated with a number of new features and enhancements, These include faster, real-time adjustments, better integration with EOS Utility, movie playback support, improved raw file workflow, enhanced highlight recovery, and much more. A new colour adjustment palette allows hue, saturation and luminance adjustment for eight individual colour gamuts, enabling the user to adjust one specific colour in isolation without affecting the image as a whole. For those photographers with dual monitors, DPP now allows a secondary monitor to be used as the preview window on the primary display. Do note that DPP 4.0 will be compatible only with 64-bit operating systems.

Adobe has unveiled a new suite of mobile apps and complementary hardware that connect Adobe Creative Cloud to your iPad. Adobe Sketch is a social sketching iPad app for free-form drawing, Adobe Line is the world’s first iPad app for precision drawing and drafting, while Photoshop Mix is billed as the most precise app for compositing and masking on iPad. Photoshop Mix also offers powerful cloud-based imaging technology on iPad for the first time, including Upright, Content Aware Fill, and Camera Shake Reduction. It offers non-destructive photo enhancements, selections, the ability to cut-out and mix images, and the ability to open and save PSD files. In addition to these apps, the company also released an iPhone version of Lightroom Mobile, and a couple of hardware devices including Adobe Ink, a digital pen, and Adobe Slide, a digital ruler. These devices work in tandem with Adobe Sketch and Adobe Line.

Adobe will announce updates and  new features for its Creative Cloud service on 18th June. The company has already released a video giving us a sneak peek of a new feature called Focus Masks. Cinemagraph Pro for Mac has received an Apple Design Award at the World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) in San Francisco. Flixel’s professional desktop application for creating living photos was launched back in late February 2014 and the company reported sales of over $250,000 in its first quarter of launching the software. “This is a great honor for our team,” says Flixel’s co-founder and CEO, Philippe LeBlanc. “We are absolutely thrilled to see Cinemagraph Pro receive such a prominent recognition from Apple.”Flixel’s Cinemagraph Pro for Mac is available for purchase on www.flixel.com and the Mac App Store. AKVIS has released version 3.5 of its MakeUp application for MacOS and Windows. This update adds a Share button, which allows you to quickly post images from the program to Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Tumblr and Google+, fixes some bugs and promises improved raw file processing. Registered customers can upgrade to version 3.5 for free.

Brian Griffith has released Iridient Developer 2.4.1 for Mac OS X. This update includes hot and dead pixel filters, and adds support for the Sony: DSC-RX100 III. Additionally, the monochrome channel mixer conversion controls now have a "preserve luminosity" option to make interactive editing of channel mixer blends easier; and the Open dialogue box now has raw sizing options for using common fixed aspect ratios when loading raw images. JPEG export speed has also been improved along with various other bug fixes and improvements. This release is a paid upgrade for users who originally purchased a license prior to 1 November 2012.

Adobe have released Camera Raw 8.5 Release Candidate for Photoshop CS6 and CC. This update adds support for the Canon PowerShot G1 X Mark II, the Fujifilm FinePix S1, the Nikon 1 J4 and V3, the Olympus OM-D E-M10 and the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH4 cameras, fixes an issue with reading lossless compressed Nikon raw files from nine older Nikon dSLRs, and adds profiles for fourteen lenses from Fuji, Nikon, Sigma and Tamron.

Apple has announced OS X Yosemite. “Yosemite is the future of OS X with its incredible new design and amazing new apps, all engineered to work beautifully with iOS,” said Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering. The company is introducing the OS X Beta Programme, which gives customers early access to Yosemite and invites them to try out the release and submit their feedback. Mac users can participate in the OS X Beta Programme for Yosemite this summer and download the final version for free from the Mac App Store this autumn.

Apple has unveiled version 8 of its iOS operating system. This update adds some interesting enhancements to the Photos app, including automatic and manual horizon straightening, intelligent cropping, and a suite of smart editing tools. Another new photo feature is iCloud Photo Library, which gives you access to all of your photos and videos anytime, anywhere, across your enabled devices. iOS 8 will be available this autumn for iPhone 4S and newer, iPod touch 5th generation and newer, as well as iPad 2 and later devices.

PhotoMania has recently launched a mobile version of its photo effects and sharing app. Available for Android and iOS, PhotoMania Mobile allows users to apply several single-click enhancements to any photos on their mobile devices with a range of painting, sketch, vintage and texture effects. Both the Android and iPhone editions are available for free.

Zoner has just rolled out a number of enhancements to Zonerama.com, its free cloud photo service. Sporting a new, more responsive design, Zonerama now dynamically adjusts to optimise the photo viewing experience no matter what device you access it on. New social features, such as the ability to follow photographers and rate their albums, have also been added, giving Zonerama a greater degree of interactivity. Finally, Zonerama now supports Google’s Chromecast, so users can wirelessly “cast” their photos from a mobile device or laptop to their TVs.
