PictoColor has released a new iOS app called iCorrect OneClick Color. Developed by FreshAir Software, iCorrect OneClick Color for iPad automatically corrects the colour and exposure of photos. The automatic correction can be fine tuned using sliders to independently adjust brightness, shadows, highlights, contrast, saturation, tint and colour temperature. iCorrect OneClick Color for iPad and iPhone are available on the App Store for $2.99.

Epson has announced an upgrade to its suite of free Epson Connect mobile printing solutions. This update makes it easier for users to print photos, e-mails, documents and Web pages from anywhere in the world using an Epson Connect enabled printer and a variety of mobile devices, such as a smartphone, tablet, desktop or laptop computer. DxO ViewPoint is a new software solution dedicated to correcting problems with keystoning and the deformation of subjects located on the edges of photos. “Based on DxO Labs’ exclusive geometric correction technology, DxO ViewPoint allows photographers to easily and efficiently restore the natural proportions of the subjects in their images as an integral part of their workflow,” the company says. PictureCode today released Photo Ninja, a new professional-grade raw converter and image editor. The result of an intensive R&D effort at PictureCode, Photo Ninja was developed with active participation from a diverse group of professional and enthusiast photographers in an extended beta test. Adobe today announced the immediate availability of Photoshop Touch 1.3. Offering core Photoshop features in an app specifically designed for iPad and Android tablets, Adobe Photoshop Touch 1.3 adds Retina display support, the ability to work on high-resolution images up to 12 megapixels, two new effects, smoother animation and scrolling, a new three-finger tap gesture to toggle 100%-percent and fit-to-screen view, a new pixel-nudging mode for precise movements, and support for Apple Photo Stream and two new languages, Russian and Brazilian Portuguese. Adobe Photoshop Touch 1.3 is available as a free update for existing Photoshop Touch customers on the iTunes App Store or on Google Play; new users may purchase the app for £6.99.

Corel today launched Paint Shop Pro X5, the latest version of its photo editing application for Windows. This release includes updates and refinements to features like layer styles, brushes and HDR imaging tools. PaintShop Pro X5 also boasts new creative tools including Retro Lab, an Instant Effects palette and a Graduated Filter effect. Also new to X5 are the social media integration and organisational tools like face recognition and Share My Trip, which gives users the ability to share map-based interactive slideshows. PaintShop Pro X5 is available now in English, French, Italian, German and Dutch for £59.99. Users of PaintShop Pro X3 or higher are eligible for upgrade pricing of £44.99.

The new Mac version of iStopMotion allows users to create high-definition stop-motion and time lapse videos using their iPhone as a camera via the free iStopMotion Remote Camera iOS app. Fully optimised for the MacBook Pro’s new Retina display. iStopMotion 3 also has enhanced app security by being sandboxed and signed with DeveloperID. It is localised in English, German, French, Japanese and Russian. DxO Labs released DxO Optics Pro v7.5.4 for Mac and Windows. With this update, DxO Optics Pro 7 now supports the Pentax K-30 (pictured) and the Sony DSC-RX100 cameras, and adds 400 new DxO Optics Modules, meaning the program now offers a total of 8,000 camera/lens combinations in its library. This update is free of charge for all owners of DxO Optics Pro 7, as well as for photographers who purchased a license for DxO Optics Pro 6 after 1 September 2011.

Adobe has updated Revel, a set of photo viewing, browsing and editing applications and cloud-based storage service formerly known as Adobe Carousel, to version 1.5. “We’ve added many great improvements to Revel with this latest update, but the one we are most excited about is the addition of Albums,” Adobe said in a blog post. “You can now organize all the photos in your library by creating albums for family vacations, photos of the kids, or even random photos you take everyday.  And just like everything else in Revel, albums are synced automatically everywhere you have the Revel app.”

Akvis has released version 14 of Akvis Sketch, a program that digital photos into pencil sketches and watercolour, charcoal, and pastel drawings. This update introduces a new Timeline feature to the Business and Deluxe editions, adds compatiblity with MacOS X 10.8, and fixes bugs.

The Guardian’s Eyewitness photography app for iPad has re-launched with more visual content than ever before. As downloads of the app approach one million, users will be offered dozens of extra images each month through a new ‘Eyewitness Premium’ in-app subscription service, which costs £1.49 a month (or local currency equivalent). The Guardian Eyewitness photography app for iPad is available to download for free from the App Store.

The Lomographic Society has released its first iPhone app. As its name suggests, the LomoKino Maker makes it easier for LomoKino users to digitise their LomoMovies with the LomoKino Smartphone Holder. “Now you can scan and digitize your LomoKino movies even more easily,”  the company says. “The app converts your negatives into positives in one effortless step!” The LomoKino Maker app is available as a free download from the iTunes App Store.

Boinx Software has released a beta version of FotoMagico 4. The latest upgrade to Boinx Software’s slideshow software adds support for multiple layers, a new timeline for fine-tuned control over slides, improved audio syncing, and many additional updates. Nik Software today released an update to the Mac and Windows versions of Snapseed. Version 1.2 includes new features, bug fixes, and a free demo version option. The update is free to registered owners of Snapseed Desktop. Snapseed Desktop normally retails for € 15,95, but until August 16, 2012 customers can purchase the electronic download for € 7,99 direct from the website below.

Athentech’s Perfectly Clear app is now available for Android devices. The company says the Android version is significantly faster than the iPad and iPhone editions (based on its own tests carried out on an ASUS Transformer Prime T300 running Tegra3 quad cores) and comes packed with a number of extra features such as time-saving presets and a multi-photo workflow that allows for multiple images to be loaded and batch corrected at the same time. Currently available for $0.99 in the Google Play Store, Perfectly Clear is compatible with smartphones and tablets running Android 2.3.3 (or newer).

DxO Labs have released DxO Optics Pro 7.5.3 for Mac and Windows, This latest version adds support for the Canon EOS 650D (pictured), the Sony NEX-F3 and the Sony SLT-A37. It also includes more than 300 new DxO Optics Modules, of which 61 are for the Canon EOS 650D and 40 are for the Sony SLT-A37. These modules support additional Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic, Sigma, and Sony lenses for numerous Canon, Olympus, Nikon, Panasonic, and Sony cameras. As of today, the DxO Optics Modules library includes more than 7,500 available camera/lens combinations.
