ViewPLUS have introduced the Lumiere 4K x 2K digital camera system that takes standard Nikon F mount lenses and can output 12-bit raw uncompressed 4096 x 2048 images at 60 frames per second to the host PC. Additional features include external frame synchronisation to standard HD formats, such as 480i, 480p, 1080i, and 1080p; CVBS and S-Video bi-level and tri-level input signal synchronisation; and an opto-isolated general purpose input/output connector for synchronising to external devices such as a light source. The Lumiere camera system also includes Lumiere-REC, a software development kit that allows users to record image data and output to movie industry-standard CinemaDNG RAW file format, and Lumiere-RT, an application that can be used in conjunction with CUDA technology to colour process and display full 4K-width colour images in real time on a 4K monitor or four high-definition monitors. Starting at JPY 8,400,000, the Lumiere camera system is available to order now from ViewPLUS.

ViewPLUS Introduces Lumiere 4K x 2K 60 FPS Digital Camera System

International Technical Exhibition on Imaging Technology and Equipment 2009

YOKOHAMA, Japan—(BUSINESS WIRE)—ViewPLUS, a leader in the development of advanced digital imaging systems for computer vision and scientific research, today introduced the Lumiere 4K x 2K digital camera system at the International Technical Exhibition on Imaging Technology and Equipment in Yokohama, Japan.

The Lumiere camera uses a customized 8 megapixel CMOS sensor and a PCI Express (PCIe) x4 interface to output 12-bit raw uncompressed 4096 x 2048 images at 60 frames per second (FPS) to the host PC. The camera is compatible with standard Nikon F-mount lenses. Additional features include external frame synchronization to standard HD formats, such as 480i, 480p, 1080i, and 1080p; CVBS and S-Video bi-level and tri-level input signal synchronization; and an opto-isolated general purpose I/O (GPIO) connector for synchronizing to external devices such as a light source.

The Lumiere camera system also includes Lumiere-REC, a software development kit (SDK) that allows users to record image data and output to movie industry-standard CinemaDNG RAW file format, and Lumiere-RT, an application that can be used in conjunction with CUDA technology to color process and display full 4K-width color images in real time on a 4K monitor or four high-definition (HD) monitors.

“Lumiere provides several distinct advantages over standard video cameras that output full video signals,” says Shigesumi Kuwashima, President and CEO of ViewPLUS. ”The camera’s four-lane PCIe external cabling interface takes advantage of the low-latency processing power of the CPU and the Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) on the PC, enabling raw data transfers of up to 700 megabytes per second. In addition, we are providing users with two ways of handling such a large amount of data. Lumiere-REC is ideal for users interested in raw, uncompressed, high quality video, while Lumiere-RT is useful for those interested in real-time display and monitoring.”

The Lumiere camera system, starting at JPY 8,400,000, is available to order now from ViewPLUS.
