ThinkCamera have reviewed the Ricoh GX100 digital camera, which features a 10.01 megapixel CCD, fast 24-72mm wide zoom lens and a removable electronic view?nder.
“Those with geeky historical knowledge of the camera industry often talk about how the original Leica of 70+ years ago changed the way 35mm film was thought of and paved the way for the acceptability of smaller, lighter cameras. Although today, Leica makes a digital heir to that heritage in its M8 camera, one can’t help thinking the stunning Ricoh Caplio GX100 is the little camera that takes on what the Leica originally did so well. Ricoh’s made another classic here.”

PhotoReview have reviewed the Canon G9, a 12.1 megapixel update of the G7 compact camera, with a 6x zoom lens, 3 inch LCD screen and the return of RAW mode.
“Robustly built, comprehensively feature-packed and small enough to slip into a jacket pocket, the PowerShot G9 has a lot in its favour. Because it offers many of the same shooting controls and supports raw file capture, it would make an excellent compact back-up camera for DSLR users. It would also provide some useful features that are not provided in DSLRs. You get good range of video formats (including widescreen) and facilities for adding sound bites to pictures or making audio recordings.”

TrustedReviews have reviewed the Nikon Coolpix L11 digital camera, which offers 6 megapixels, 2.4 inch LCD screen, 3x zoom lens (37.5-112.5mm), maximum ISO of 800 and a choice of 16 Scene modes.
“I was surprised to find that despite the obvious similarities between the L10 and L11, the latter has significantly better image quality. Whether the 6MP sensor simply suits the lens better, or some slight changes have been made to the lens for this model I do not know, but the L11 suffers from slightly less wide-angle barrel distortion, and the image is noticeably sharper right across the frame, with no trace of the slight chromatic aberration that I noticed on the L10.”

Prizes range from an RSPCA photoshoot to top of the range cameras.

PCMag have reviewed Adobe Photoshop Elements 6, the latest version of the No. 1 selling consumer photo-editing software.
“Unlike most competitors, Adobe has the advantage of starting with an extraordinarily powerful program, Photoshop. The developers’ challenge is to make the application useful to mere mortals, rather than the editing professionals who use it daily. I never doubted that Photoshop Elements would be powerful—the question was whether it would be usable. That appears to have been a major focus of the new version, and the results are very good.”

DigitalCameraInfo have reviewed the new Canon EOS-1D Mark III DSLR camera.
“The focus problem is a tragic flaw worthy of Sophocles. We used the Mark III with a 24-70mm and a 70-200mm zoom. Those lenses should not challenge the 45-spot autofocus system, but the problem was bad enough to show up with it. After the firmware fix, we couldn’t reproduce the problem, but that’s really not good enough. It doesn’t prove the problem is fixed for more challenging conditions. Canon is in the difficult position of proving a negative: that the focus problem no longer exists.”

CNET have reviewed the Samsung NV11 camera, featuring a Schneider lens, Smart Touch user interface, 2.7 inch high definition LCD, 10 megapixels and 5x optical zoom lens.
“Thanks to relatively low noise at all but the highest sensitivity settings, the NV11’s photos look quite good. The camera reproduces colors rather well, and its two separate manual white balance settings offer flexibility when shooting between two nearby locations, like on a shady porch and in a sunny backyard. The photos aren’t perfect, though; the NV11 tends to blow out highlights, especially when using the camera’s onboard flash. We also noticed some minor processing artifacts creep up around fine details, such as textured fabrics.”

CNET have just reviewed the 10 megapixel Samsung NV10 digital camera.
“Though its Smart Touch interface takes some getting used to, the Samsung NV10 is a nice compact camera. Its responsive shutter, manual controls, and attractive images make it a fine choice for casual photographers who want a lot of options without a lot of bulk. If you’re willing to spend a bit more, though, consider instead the Samsung NV11. The NV10’s bigger, slightly heavier brother boasts a more powerful zoom and both aperture- and shutter-priority modes, two much appreciated improvements over this model.”

Steves Digicams have reviewed the Sony Cyber-Shot S650, a new entry-level digital camera with 7.2 megapixels, 1/2.5 inch CCD, ISO 1000 and 3x optical zoom lens.
“The Cyber-Shot S650 fits well in your hand and can be easily tucked away in a pocket or purse. There are very few controls, but they are conveniently placed within reach of your fingertips. The S650 features a small 2.0-inch LCD, which I found a little hard to use. This is the only viewfinder on the camera, and I found the screen more or less impossible to see in bright sunlight. In marginal lighting, the display gains up nicely, making this digicam useful in low light conditions.”

Eddie Tapp joins Scott Sheppard to explain how he maintains consistent colour throughout his workflow on the Inside Digital Photo radio show. Eddie shares some steps with Inside Digital Photo on the elements of good color management starting with white balance using a target while on location, calibrating your monitor, and different equipment to use to measure and monitor your color. Eddie warns users about the dangers of “tweaking” color in their PhotoShop files using an uncalibrated display as this can significantly remove critical color data from the file and ultimately impact the quality of final output. Eddie and Scott also discuss output color profiles and the importance of choosing the right color space within PhotoShop to ensure great prints.
