Pentax K10DLuminous Landscape have reviewed the Pentax K10D, which offers 10.2 megapixels, shake-reduction, dust removal system, 22-bit colour, three new shooting modes, 2.5 inch LCD screen and 11 point auto-focusing.

“One can’t really get the measure of a complex camera like the Pentax 10D after just a week of use and a few hundred frames. But, it didn’t take me long to discover that this is a camera that the sophisticated user will find to be a pleasure to work with. Image quality is on a par with virtually anything else on the market, the camera is very feature rich, the price is right, and it therefore isn’t a stretch to say that the K10D is probably the best value in a 10 Megapixel DSLR at this time.”

Nikon D80DigitalCameraInfo have just reviewed the new 10 megapixel Nikon D80 DSLR camera.

“The Nikon D80 is a well-built, easy-to-operate 10-megapixel DSLR with good image quality, good auto focus and features for both experienced photographers and snapshooters. The D80 is slower than the Nikon D200, and its controls are less convenient, but the D80 beats the more expensive camera in some measures of image quality. Though there are cameras with more features and very good image quality available for less, it’s clear why the D80 costs what it does: it’s better-built, it has better auto focus, and better controls. It may not be a bargain, but its price is justified.”

Canon PowerShot A710 ISDPReview have reviewed the new Canon PowerShot A710 IS digital camera.

“The A710 IS takes the formula established with the A700 - well-priced, compact camera with big zoom and full photographic control - and adds the one thing that was missing, an effective optical image stabilization system. And in doing so it makes a good camera immeasurably better. The extra megapixel offers little if any real advantage; the resolution is increased slightly at ISO 80, but at higher ISO settings the slightly stronger NR soon gets rid of that.”

Nikon Coolpix S7cePhotoZine have reviewed the new Nikon Coolpix S7c, which offers 7 megapixels, a 35-105mm lens and electronic Vibration Reduction.

“The lens is internal and doesn’t extend at all, which makes the camera start thin and stay thin. It’s easily pocket sized and the build quality is very good. It’s just annoying that buttons on the top are so awkward. Handling is generally good, but there’s only the smallest knurled area to put a thumb to hold it, and invariably, fingers go over the lens or onto the LCD. You’ll also spent no little time polishing the chrome bits. The only problem is that on cold days, the very smoothness of the camera makes it slippy to hold and easy to drop.”

If this data is extrapolated to the general public, it translates into Americans having almost 500 billion digital photos. Additionally, when asked how they were going to photograph the holiday and New Year’s parties they planned to attend, point and shoot cameras remain the preferred choice, with 55 percent of survey respondents indicating they planned to use them. Digital SLRs were a popular second choice, with 37 percent of respondents indicating they planned to use them to capture holiday memories. “In the hands, the camera feels satisfyingly solid. The concave lip/grip below the K10D logo is a great little consideration for times when it’s necessary to hold the camera with the left hand. For those unfamiliar with the floating sensor stabilization design, it can be a bit unsettling to hear the sensor rattle around when the camera is off, but you’ll get over it when you see the image results, especially at slow shutter speeds in low light.”

Olympus SP-510 UZImaging Resource have reviewed the 7 megapixel, 10x optical zoom Olympus SP-510 UZ.

“The Olympus SP-510 does capture very nice images in daylight and under adequate indoor lighting conditions. Macro shots I took of the few flowers in my neighborhood still growing this late in the season had lively but not overly saturated color. The Olympus ED 10x f/2.8-f/3.8 aperture optical zoom lens provides very good sharpness, though because the camera uses digital image stabilization instead of hardware-based optical image stabilization, some shots I took at the full 10x zoom were not very sharp, especially in low light conditions when the camera automatically boosts the ISO.”
