CameraLabs have published their review of the recently announced 10 megapixel Panasonic DMC-FZ50 camera.
“In its defence though, the FZ50 still has a fantastic lens and excellent creative control, but apart from the new Function button, the best aspects are essentially the same as its predecessor. Sure, the FZ50 may resolve slightly more detail at its lowest ISO, but we’d happily swap this for better performance at higher sensitivities. Certainly if you demand better quality at high ISOs, you’ll be better off with a budget DSLR.”

Imaging Resource have reviewed the new Nikon Coolpix P3 camera, which offers 8.1 megapixels, 3.5x optical zoom lens and a 2.5 inch LCD.
“The Nikon Coolpix P3 produced crisp prints at 8x10 inches, and somewhat softer but still acceptable ones at 11x14. As always though, the real test of print size came at the higher ISO settings. Here, the Nikon P3’s ISO 400 images were a little soft and noisy when printed at 8x10 inches, but we think well within the range of what most consumers would be satisfied with. ISO 200 shots looked quite clean at 8x10.”

PCMagazine have published their review of the new Lexmark P350 Portable Photo Printer, which features new Evercolor II ink technology and PerfectFinish Photo Paper.
“A more global issue, though, is that most of the P350’s photos show a slight case of differential gloss, with some areas reflecting light better than others. You can see this effect only from some angles, but at those angles it gives the photos an odd look. You also have to be careful about how you handle photos you care about, because they’re relatively easy to scratch. After I finished evaluating photo quality, I noticed several subtle scratches that were caused just by shuffling through the stack and sliding the back of one photo over the front of another.”

Megapixel.net have reviewed the new 10 megapixel Nikon D80 DSLR camera.
“In summary, the D80 is an important step beyond the D70, and is an excellent alternative to the more expensive D200. Compared to its predecessor, the D80’s autofocus is much faster, its sensitivity range is greater and it is equipped with a 2.5-inch LCD monitor. Just as important, the 10.2-megapixel resolution of the D80 allows it to capture even finer details than had been possible with the D70. Last but not least, the D80 can be mated to a vertical grip that supports a second shutter release for vertical shots, something that was unavailable on the D70.”

TrustedReviews have taken a look at the Canon Digital IXUS 850 IS (known as the Canon SD800 IS in the United States).
“Another stand-out feature is the lens. Most 3x zoom compacts have a wide-angle setting equivalent to around 35-38mm, but the IXUS 850 has a 3.8x zoom with a range equivalent to 28-105mm, ideal for landscapes or big group shots at close range. As usual with Canon optics, the lens is of very high quality, producing extremely good edge-to-edge sharpness, and with less wide-angle spherical distortion than most. Combined with the Digic III processor it provides some of the best image quality I’ve seen from a pocket compact. Colour rendition is especially good; even when I deliberately tried to confuse the auto white-balance setting it still got it right. The only criticism I could find was some minor blue fringes on some high-contrast edges, but only under certain conditions.”
