Ricoh today announced the upcoming release of a limited-edition 360-degree camera  called the Ricoh Theta SC Type HATSUNE MIKU. Based on the Ricoh Theta SC, this limited-edition collaboration model features an official Hatsune Miku illustration specially drawn by the illustrator KEI on a turquoise body, the theme colour for Miku. The shutter sound has also been modified, to replicate that of a traditional camera. Images shot in 360° can also be imported into the dedicated image editing application “Ricoh Theta Type HATSUNE MIKU” so that Miku can be part of your shot. In addition, this product includes a “dog tag key holder” printed with a serial number (on the first 3,939 units) and an exclusive colour ABITAX case in a presentation box. The dog tag key holder and presentation box feature an illustration by fuzichoco, exclusive to this limited-edition package. Cascable, an iOS-based remote control app that works with a number of Wi-Fi capable cameras, has just been updated to version 3.0. This update includes support for nearly 50 new camera models from Fujifilm and Panasonic on top of the Canon, Nikon, Sony and Olympus models already available. In addition, Cascable now contains a set of geotagging tools which enable photographs to be geotagged without a GPS-enabled camera, alongside numerous optimisations and workflow improvements. The app is available from the iOS App Store. Cascable's Pro features come with a free trial when subscribing from $2 per month, or can be unlocked with a one-time $29.99 purchase.

Version 1.17.0 adds a visual overexposure warning, an overlay for the spot metering area, a grid overlay and a clickable White Balance icon in Video Live View and recording; and fixes bugs. Sony have released a variety of immersive 4K footage recorded by the Sony A7S II 35mm full-frame compact system camera on board the International Space Station (ISS). according to the company, this is the world's first commercial camera to be mounted outside of the ISS used to capture video in 4K. The videos showcase the Japanese islands from outer space with footage taken during day and night, showing off its majestic snow-covered peaks and metropolitan lights right down to the differences in colour tone. It also captured the well-lit cities of the US east coast by night.

Leica have issued a firmware update for the Leica TL2 compact system camera. Version 1.1 fixes the following defect: "When using the Leica TL2 with an external electronic viewfinder (Visoflex) a defect may occur that could stop the camera from working." The Moto G5S Plus is a new, affordably priced dual-camera smartphone from Motorola. The two 13-megapixel rear camera units enable the Moto G5S Plus to offer a range of features including a shallow DOF effect, selective-colour black-and-white images, and more. Nikon Japan have announced the postponement of the release of their Nikon D5 100th Anniversary Edition. This commemorative model, which has a dark metallic gray finish and a stamp noting Nikon’s contribution to the study and exploration of space, was originally scheduled for release on 28th July. The company now says that the product will be available in "early August."
