Serif today announced  that its professional image editing app for Mac, Affinity Photo, is now available as a free download for public beta testing. The app boasts true end-to-end CMYK, 16-bits per channel editing, LAB colour, RAW processing, ICC colour management, and compatiblity with Photoshop as well as 64-bit plugins. Although a first beta version, it is already feature-rich with nondestructive photography adjustments like Frequency Separation editing, live blend modes, Inpainting, and advanced retouching. “We’re delighted to be shaking things up with this exciting new app that doesn’t compromise on power and could make creative pros fall in love with photo editing and raster art all over again. Affinity Photo is silky-smooth, accurate at a professional level, and fully-featured — and the beta can be downloaded for free.” says Ashley Hewson, Serif’s Managing Director. Tiffen today announced the availability of its Steadicam SOLO camera stabiliser. Capable of being folded to a highly compact 25 x 6 inch profile, the system readily supports cameras weighing up to 10 lbs. (4.5kg). The closely engineered three-axis gimbal design enables the most precise movements and incomparable stability demanded by professional operators, while the ergonomic foam handle and grips – which control the four-section telescopic post – provide a high level of comfort during the most challenging of operations. Bringing versatility to the set, the SOLO effortlessly converts to a monopod mode for shooting from confined spaces. Other features include a quick-release camera mounting plate, push-on lock, push button release, positive positioning clamping, standard ¼-20 and ⅜-16 camera mounting, and simple dual knob fore-aft vernier adjustment. Canon has unveiled a collection of new models in its acclaimed PowerShot, IXUS and PIXMA PRO product ranges - the PowerShot SX410 IS, IXUS 275 HS (also known as the PowerShot ELPH 350 HS), PIXMA PRO-100S and PIXMA PRO-10S.

The compact PowerShot SX410 IS combines an incredible 40x optical zoom and 80x ZoomPlus technology in a small-scale body. The PowerShot SX410 IS will be available from March 2015 with an RSP of £249.99 / €299.99. In the USA the PowerShot SX410 IS camera is scheduled to be available in March 2015 in red or black for an estimated retail price of $279.99.

The Canon IXUS 275 HS' 12x optical zoom is teamed with Canon’s HS System and 20.2 Megapixel CMOS sensor. The IXUS 275 HS will be available from May 2015 with an RSP of £189.99 / €299.99. In the USA the PowerShot ELPH 350 HS camera is scheduled to be available in April 2015 in black and silver for an estimated retail price of $209.99.

The new PIXMA PRO-100S and PIXMA PRO-10S replace Canon’s existing PRO-100 and PRO-10 printers respectively. The PIXMA Pro-100S will be available from February 2015 with an RSP of £499.99/€599.99. The PIXMA Pro-10S will be available from February 2015 with an RSP of £699.99/€829.99.

The Samsung NX500 is a new compact system camera offering 28 megapixel still photos and 4K video recording. The NX500 has the core functionality of the flagship NX1, engineered into a portable and convenient size. Updated connectivity via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi provides an advanced wireless experience, as well as the ability to seamlessly shoot and share captured experiences.

The Samsung NX500 will come in three colours, Black, White and Brown, and will be available globally from March 2015.
