Jennifer Karády and Elley Ho, alongside agencies Fraser Communications and Heward Jue, Inc., have been selected to receive this year's Getty Images Creative Grants. In the project Healing our Hidden War, Brooklyn-based photographer Jennifer Karády and agency Fraser Communications will collaborate with Volunteers of America, Los Angeles (VOALA) to tell the stories of military veterans returning from deployments in Afghanistan and Iraq, revealing the invisible trauma of war and how it affects them. Educating Children | Transforming Worlds, by California photographer Elley Ho and Creative Director Heward Jue will utilize video and print to demonstrate how the Asante Africa Foundation's education programs for children are profoundly transforming lives and communities in East Africa.

Calumet’s seminar academy is set to pilot an exclusive ‘Air to Air Photography’ day for six ‘high-flying’ photographers. For £495 each, delegates will get a full day’s masterclass, complete with a unique airborne photo-shoot ‘sortie’ in the afternoon. “We are teaming up with professional aviation photographer and pilot Keith Wilson and experienced aerobatic and formation pilot and photographer Mick Osbaldeston to offer delegates this matchless introduction to air-to-air photography," said Calumet marketing executive Sian Hamer. "The date currently set for the first seminar is July 8 - so interested photographers need to act fast.” The morning will be spent at The Shropshire Aero Club at Sleap Aerodrome, Harmer Hill, covering all aspects of safety, equipment and technique. Then each delegate boards a high wing Cessna for his or her unique chance to fly in close proximity to another plane that they can photograph.

Rollei has released two telescopic arm extensions for fast and secure attachment of all action cams and compact cameras with a 1/4“ tripod thread. The Rollei Arm Extension S 505mm (€39.95) weighs just 95g and can be easily extended from 20 to 50 cm. The Rollei Arm Extension L 950mm (€49.95) weighs 30g more, but can be extended from 30 to 95cm. The camera adapter for both is made entirely from stainless steel, while the ball head is made from aluminium. Consequently, both are equipped for use under extreme conditions and can be freely adjusted in terms of angle and tilt. Both the S and L versions are available in black, blue, orange and yellow. Each telescopic rod can take a maximum load of 500g.

CamRanger is now compatible with a free Android application available in the Google Play store. CamRanger is a device that wirelessly controls Canon and Nikon digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) cameras. The CamRanger has a wireless range of up to 150 feet for wireless tethering for photography and video monitoring and control. The CamRanger allows wireless tethering for over 30 different Canon and Nikon cameras. The included software includes live view, touch focusing, focus stacking, intervalometer, HDR, changing settings, record and focus during movie, client mode and much more.

DxO FilmPack v4.0.2 is now fully compatible with Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5. Available in two editions, Essential and Expert, DxO FilmPack v4.0.2 can be installed as a plugin for Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4 and 5, Photoshop CS3, CS4, CS5 and CS6, Photoshop  Elements 10 and 11, Apple Aperture 3, and DxO Optics Pro v8.2, and as a standalone application for Mac and Windows - all with the same license.  DxO FilmPack v4.0.2 is available at a discount through June 30, 2013.

Nikon have released a new firmware update for the D7100 DSLR. Version C 1.01 includes 8 modifications, including when movie recording at 1920 × 1080/24p in M exposure mode, subject brightness did not change, even when shutter speed was adjusted.

The Fujifilm X-M1 is a new compact and lightweight compact system camera. Featuring the same 16.3 megapixel APS-C X-Trans CMOS sensor as the flagship X-Pro1, the X-M1 weighs just 330 grams and is about half the size of a regular SLR body. It also offers a 920,000 dot tiltable 3-inch LCD, 5.6fps burst shooting, wireless image transfer, full HD (1920x1080) video recording at 30 frames per second, a built-in flash and hot shoe, ISO200-6400 and a 49 point AF system.

Fujfilm are also announcing the Fujinon XC 16-50mm F3.5-5.6 OIS lens, which will ship as a kit lens with the X-M1. Offering a focal range of 24mm-76mm in 35mm terms, the XC16-50mm lens consists of 12 all-glass elements in 10 groups including 3 aspherical elements and 1 ED element. It will be available in black and silver.

The X-M1 is available in three colours - Black, Silver and Brown In the UK, the X-M1 and XC16-50mm lens kit will be on sale from end July 2013 for £679.99.

The Fujinon XF 27mm F2.8 is a new prime lens for the Fujifilm X-Pro1 and X-E1 compact system cameras. The lens has a fixed focal length of 27mm (41mm in 35mm format equivalent), offering a field of view similar to that of the human eye. Weighing 78g and measuring 23mm in length, it's one of the smallest and lightest single focal length lenses available for APS-sensor mirrorless cameras. The Fujifilm XF27mm lens will be on sale from August 2013, price to be announced.

Fujifilm has announced two X-Pro1 and X-E1 firmware updates which will offer faster auto-focusing and the addition of a “Focus Peak Highlight” function. The first firmware update is available today, and the second on 23rd July. Other new features include a ‘Focus Frame Selection’ option, a second ‘Fn’ button, and aperture control for lenses without aperture rings.

The Aquatica AD7100 is a new underwater housing for the Nikon D7100. Depth rated to 90m/300ft and upgradeable to 130m/425ft, the Aquatica AD7100 offers access direct to the Fn button, and features an internal flash up/flash down capability, a quick access ISO lever that is thumb actuated and a total of three access holes that accept various accessories. The AF-L/AE-L button access is provided with a lever right under the users thumb. Menus buttons are angled to provide better access for your left hand. The Aquatica AD7100 underwater housing sells for $3,199.

The Aquatica AD600 is a new underwater housing for the Nikon D600 digial SLR camera. Along with the comfortable ergonomics usually associated with Aquatica housings, the AD600 also incorporates a number of refinements. Among them, it offers access direct to the Fn button. This is done via an easy to reach and unique design push button that is conveniently located on the rear of the housing. The housing also features an internal flash up/flash down capability, a quick access ISO lever that is thumb actuated and a total of three access holes are provided to accept various accessories. Depth rated to 90m, the Aquatica AD600 underwater housing can be yours for $3,199.

The new Lowepro Transit camera bags are lightweight and stylish. Available in two models - the Lowepro Transit Backpack 350 AW and the Lowepro Transit Sling 250 AW - the bags are "designed to blend in to the urban environment". The Transit Backpack 350 AW has a guide retail price £98, while the Transit Sling 250 AW retails for £82.

Capture One 7.1.3 adds new camera support, bug fixes and beta version of a new catalog importer. It includes file (and tethered support in Capture One Pro) for Canon 700D/Rebel T5i and 100D/Rebel SL1 cameras, as well as 11 other recent cameras. Capture One version 7.1.3 is a free update to owners of Capture One Pro 7, Capture One Express 7, and Capture One DB 7 (digital back) software.

NASA has taken a 1.3-billion-pixel image of the Mars landscape using technology from GigaPan. The 1.3-billion-pixel image was stitched together from nearly 900 individual images. The image highlights the site where Curiosity collected its first scoops of sand at a windblown patch called “Rocksnest,” and extends to Mount Sharp on the horizon.
