Think Tank Photo has just upgraded its Urban Disguise series shoulder bags. The Urban Disguise V2-0 bags are larger than their predecessors, and feature multiple pockets, YKK lockable zipper sliders, a comfortable, padded shoulder strap, and a seam-sealed rain cover. Five models will be available come October, three of which include special laptop / netbook compartments. “This design concept is the culmination of years of observation of photojournalists and other photographers who have jury-rigged their bags to decrease their public exposure,” said Think Tank Photo founder and lead designer Doug Murdoch.  “Whether you are a professional who wishes to maintain a lower profile in dangerous situations or a serious amateur who wishes to lessen the risk of having your gear ripped off, the Urban Disguise’s low profile allows you to carry the right gear with less fear.”

Think Tank Photo has completely redesigned its line-up of Digital Holsters. Available in early October in five sizes, their expandable “Pop Down” section allows them to hold lenses of two different vertical heights with the hood in position or with it reversed. A feature new to V2.0 is the built-in side attachment system compatible with most Modular, Skin, or Multimedia components. The Digital Holsters also feature a side pocket for holding memory cards, a soft flap to cover the camera’s LCD, a shoulder strap, and an externally accessible seam-sealed rain cover in every model.

Kata has launched a new range of light-weight, protective holsters Available in five different sizes and two colours, the Kata Grip DL holsters can be attached to an ordinary belt or photo harness system and also feature a top handle for easy carrying, together with a shoulder strap. Each Grip holster also comes with a Kata rain cover for added protection. Pricing varies between £24.95 for the smallest Kata Grip-10 DL, ideal for a compact or bridge camera, and £69.95 for the largest Kata Grip-18 DL designed to accommodate a pro DSLR with 70-200 f2.8 lens attached (see picture above).

Redrock Micro have announced the new microEVF electronic viewfinder for HDSLR cameras. The Redrock microEVF is the first electronic viewfinder designed from the ground up specifically for HDSLRs, The new Redrock microEVF is an external electronic viewfinder that connects to the camera body and can be placed anywhere for maximum comfort and stability, and can be part of a multi-monitor solution. The microEVF uses a custom made state-of-the-art backlit LED fitted in an attractive, ergonomic housing. Redrock MicroEVF is priced at $595, availability has not yet been announced.

The Complete National Geographic features 121 years of the iconic magazine’s content. Available in a box set of six DVD-ROMs and on hard drive, The Complete National Geographic includes every printed page of the more than 1,400 issues, including over 200,000 photographs, from October 1888 through December 2009. Canon USA is launching the Your Second Shot advertising campaign to promote the Canon HS SYSTEM. Available in the new PowerShot G12, S95, SD4500 IS and SD4000 IS Digital cameras, this system combines the DIGIC 4 Image Processor with a High-Sensitivity sensor. and helps to reduce noise at high ISO levels and expand the camera’s dynamic range. The Your Second Shot campaign’s new commercial was shot entirely with Canon’s EOS 5D Mark II Digital SLR camera and EF lenses. Beginning today, the Your Second Shot campaign can be seen on television, in print and online.

Smart Shooter 1.0 is a new digital photography workflow application for remote capture and advanced camera control. Smart Shooter allows the photographer to fully control their camera from a computer, and is available for both Windows and Mac priced at £32. A trial version is also available for download.

The Nature in Focus Roadshow 2010 is a series of exciting one day photography events around the UK in November. Canon will partner Páramo Directional Clothing and Wild Arena to hold an inspirational roadshow which will celebrate the art of nature and landscape photography. Held at three Wildfowl & Wetland Trust sites, the Nature in Focus Roadshow will provide delegates with the opportunity to learn from experts in the field, attend informative seminars and gain practical advice.

Genius Loci is a new international Photographic Prize aimed at promoting emerging photographers of all nationalities based in Italy and the United Kingdom. There are no fees to enter the Genius Loci competition and the winner will be awarded a cheque for £1,000.
