Calumet has unveiled a new range of new line of supersized digital photo frames. Available in three sizes, 8.4 inches, 10.4 inches and 15 inches, the Calumet digital photo frames are easy to set up, offer remote control operation, and can be placed on a flat surface or hung on a wall. The Calumet Digital Photo Frames retail for $109.99, $179.99 and $279.99. The line of optional interchangeable frames retails from $9.99 to $16.99.

Bob Dylan by Jerry Schatzberg is a new photo exhibition opening at the Proud Central gallery in November. Schatzberg says of Dylan, The collection will be premiering exclusively at Proud Central in London and will be the only opportunity to view this selection of images. “As a photographic subject, Dylan was the best. You just point the camera at him and things happen.” The Bob Dylan by Jerry Schatzberg exhibition runs from 21st November 2008 to 25th January 2009 and entry is free.

The Canon PowerShot SX110 IS is a new ultra-zoom camera with a 10x, 36-360mm, image stabilised lens. Announced just one year after the 40D, the new EOS 50D is Canon’s latest semi-pro DSLR camera. With a price-tag just over £1200 / $1399 body only, the Canon 50D is firmly aimed at the prosumer, who will use it as their main camera, and the pro photographer looking for a reliable and relatively inexpensive backup body. The main headline-grabbing feature is the 15.1 megapixel CMOS sensor, which makes the 50D the market-leading APS-C camera in terms of megapixel count. Canon have also massively expanded the ISO range, with a top speed of 12800 matching the more expensive Nikon D700 / D3 cameras, while the new Digic 4 processor promises to maintain the usual high image quality that we’ve come to expect from a Canon DSLR. The WPPI 2009 photography show takes place in Las Vegas from February 14th-19th. During October Canon U.S.A. will contribute $150,000 to the American Cancer Society in recognition of breast cancer awareness month. Photokina is over for another 2 years, so we’ve looked back at some of the most notable developments from the World’s biggest photography show.

Leica S System
Undoubtedly the greatest surprise of this year’s Photokina was Leica’s announcement of the new S system. The German manufacturer did not simply launch a new, high-resolution camera with an assortment of lenses to go with it. They did not simply introduce a new mount either. Instead they announced a completely new camera format, something that hasn’t happened since the debut of the FourThirds system five years ago.
