Image Quality
The HP Photosmart 375 image quality is excellent straight out of the box. Prints made on the HP Premium Photo Paper were glossy and true to the original image, with no discernible colour shifts. I was amazed by the colour accuracy - there was no need to mess around with ICC profiles or Adobe Photoshop to obtain accurate colour rendition. The HP Photosmart 375 really did deliver "what you see is what you get" prints. The HP Premium Photo Paper also has a nice weight and feel similar to a traditional print from a photo lab.
There are a few things to note, however, about prints made by the HP Photosmart 375. The prints are not touch dry straight out of the printer - I left them overnight to dry fully before handling them. They are also not waterproof in any way. If you wet your finger and run it along the print, it will leave a smudge mark behind, as shown below.
So they are not as hard-wearing as traditional prints from your local photo lab, which is what you might expect from a 6x4 inch print. Putting them straight into a photo album would probably be a good idea. The only other aspect that detracted slightly from the image quality was a halo effect along the edges of objects that could be seen if you held the photo at a 90 degree angle. It kind of looks like an image that has been oversharpened. This effect cannot be seen when viewing the photo face-on though.
