Though you'll find some good deals online, you're not going to buy an Olympus Mju 1030 SW unless you also buy into its exterior toughness as it's obviously costing you a little extra over similarly specified competitors. At a time when a lot of rivals shout about features that amount to little more than gimmicks, however, it's good to find Olympus providing the consumer with a unique selling point that is more than just a conversation piece and is genuinely useful. Even though it's boxy and business like in design, the mju 1030 SW is not unattractive. Also in its favour, this is a camera that is fast in operation and as easy to use as it is sturdy as it should be if you're hurtling down the slopes with it or diving into the pool at the villa. The negatives are those unimpressive (at this price point) plastic controls at the rear, and an image performance that is just above average, though the shadow adjustment is a nice touch that provides better results with minimum fuss. The Olympus Mju 1030 SW comes with a two-year warranty, providing peace of mind should you indeed test it to breaking point. Recommended (just).
