Medium format zoom lenses are a rarity, so the Fujifilm GF 45-100mm f/4 is welcome for that fact alone. However, this near-standard zoom (with an equivalent 36-79mm focal range) is also an impressive optical performer, though its sharpness dips slightly at the tele end – and there is an apparent anomaly at f/8 (at least with our review sample). An excellent all-purpose optic, it would be a valuable addition to any GFX owner's kit bag.

Latest in the line is this 45-100mm f/4 zoom and it will be especially interesting to consider whether or not this becomes a viable alternative to the top of the line "full-frame" cameras in terms of handling and quality of results. So, time to dip our toes in the water and test out the temperature, using the 51.4MP Fujifilm GFX 50S body.
