Nikon Z 14-30mm f/4 S Review

Sharpness at 16mm
Our sharpness tests are carried out by photographing a real-world subject rather than a test chart. The Nikkor Z 14-30mm f/4 S was attached to a Nikon Z7, which in turn was mounted on a sturdy tripod. Self-timer mode was activated to steady the camera completely. Any slight tonal changes you may see across the crops are a result of slight changes in natural light during the shooting session.
The full frame at 16mm
At f/4, the centre of the image is very sharp, maintaining that sharpness through f/5.6 and f/8. Sharpness drops slightly at f/11, and again at f/16. At f/22, the image is softest, but again, it’s only problematic if closely examining the image at 100%. At the edge, sharpness is best between f/5.6 and f/8.
