Sharpness at 14mm
The sharpness tests for this review were carried out using a real-world subject rather than a test chart. The Sony FE 14mm F1.8 GM lens was attached to a Sony A7R IV camera body, which in turn was mounted on a sturdy tripod. Self-timer mode was activated. Slight tonal changes are due to slight changes in natural light during the session.

Centre sharpness is outstanding even when shooting wide-open at f/1.8, through to f/11, with f/16 being adversely affected by diffraction.
The edge performance is almost as good as the centre, with f/2.8-f/11 producing the sharpest results.
